Actor Rainn Wilson has blasted legendary rockers Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin for wearing make-up and women's clothes - branding them too girly.

The Office star portrays a washed-up drummer given a second chance at stardom in new movie The Rocker, and is a huge fan of the heavy rock genre.

However, Wilson dropped his loyalty to his beloved groups after the bandmembers adopted effeminate styles.

The actor says, "I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock. I loved AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, but as soon as it started to get girly, as soon as they were wearing women's blouses, mascara and eyeliner - guy-liner I call it - as soon as it went there then it kind of lost me."

On the off-chance you've never seen Rainn Wilson as Dwight K. Schrute on The Office, Dwight, next to his brother Mose, might be the best new creation on TV since Tobias Funke on Arrested Development. He's both exactly like and positively unlike anyone you've ever met.

It's a real skill when an actor can portray a character who is instantly believable and completely foreign, and it serves comedies particularly well.

It appears that Wilson has honed his skill again as Robert "Fish" Fishman in this summer's The Rocker. Fish is a drummer. Or was a drummer, at any rate. Back in the 80s, he played in the hair metal outfit Vesuvius, but he was eventually booted from the band. Twenty years later, Fish sees his chance at fame again with the band A.D.D.

There's only one problem: The rest of the members of A.D.D. are all in high school.

I'm kind of glad we have a new poster for The Rocker to show you. The first one was almost creepy. It had that familiar Olan Mills portrait studio look, and kid with Rainn Wilson's rather toady facial features. I suspect a little Photoshop, but it's still off-putting.

The new poster tells us a little more of the movie's story: Wilson plays a one-time hair metal band drummer who watched that spandex well dry up years and years ago. Now he sees his chance to hit it big again...by joining a local high school band.

Sure, it's Rainn Wilson in his underwear, and we're not exactly doing backflips over that, but it's still better than the creepy kid scenario. Let me ask you: Anybody else notice a Lars Ulrich resemblance? Maybe it's just me.

The Rocker arrives, fully dressed, in August.

Michael Bay says that "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen," will not be a setup for a third film and insists the project will be completely self-contained. The Office star Rainn Wilson is reaching out to the woman who beat him in a high school election nearly 25 years ago, so he can offer her a job.

The 42 year old, who plays Dwight Schrute in the U.S. version of the comedy show, made the appeal during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday.

He told Leno how he had campaigned and lost an election to be class treasurer, explaining, "I lost in a landslide. Erin O'Neil was senior class treasurer.

"I'm starting a production company, and I could use a production accountant. Erin did such a nice job being treasurer for our senior class. She did a great job raising money for pizza day. I'd like to invite her to have a job. Erin if you're watching..."

In April, dozens of scripted shows will return to the broadcast networks. Thank goodness! Though I've already posted details on the returns of "The Office" (here and here) "30 Rock," "Ugly Betty" and "House," I thought I'd collect all the information I have in one place.

First, here's a chronological list of return dates (to see the return dates sorted by network, go here).

Second, for those who want more than just return dates, I've got details on what will happen on many shows, in addition to the ones mentioned above, on the second half of this item.

If you don’t spot a favorite show on either list, by the way, be aware that some programs aren’t returning until fall, and the fate of several others has not been officially announced yet. There's more info on what's returning in the fall here.

It's been approximately 87 years since NBC showed a new episode of "The Office." Not that I've been keeping track.

Ok, seriously, the last fresh episode of the comedy aired Nov. 15, which technically qualifies as forever ago. So it was cool to come across a little information on what will happen when the show returns April 10.

But before I get to that, here's a bit more info on Nbc's comedies: "Scrubs" and "30 Rock" return April 10 also. "My Name Is Earl" returns with a two-parter April 3, and NBC Universal Ceo Jeff Zucker will provide an allegedly "insightful recap" on what's already transpired on "Earl," according to Nbc's press site. I cannot wait for that Zuckeriffic moment! Also, Alyssa Milano and a tabloid celebrity (no, not Britney) are guest stars when "Earl" returns. There's more on all that below.

Reese Witherspoon, Rainn Wilson, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen, Kiefer Sutherland and Will Arnett will lend their voices to Paramount Pictures' Monsters vs Aliens, which has been described as a reinvention of the classic 1950s monster movie into an irreverent modern-day action comedy, according to Usa Today. The DreamsWorks sci-fi spoof, landing March 27, 2009, also transforms a once-tacky Ike-era gimmick into an eye-popping 21st-century experience as the first computer-animated feature to be shot in 3-d.
