Michelle Williams starred with Christina Ricci in the 2001 drama film Prozac Nation. Portraying Ruby, a Harvard roommate of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Wurtzel (Christina Ricci), she only had a few lines in the movie.

Born on February 12, 1980, in Santa Monica, California, Ricci was just 20 years old when filming the nude scenes for Prozac Nation.
Just a few months younger, Michelle Williams was born on September 9, 1980, in Kalispell, Montana, and celebrated her 21st birthday on September 9, 2001.
During the filming of the nude scene in Prozac Nation, Christina Ricci’s co-star, Michelle Williams, provided support by monitoring the footage. She ensured Christina felt comfortable with how she was being portrayed by watching the scene unfold on the screen and reassuring her that everything looked appropriate.

Shooting has wrapped on Venom: The Last Dance and with a little over five months before it arrives in theaters, we're hoping an official first look is somewhere on the horizon.
Sony Pictures could do with a win after delivering flops like Morbius and Madame Web, but only time will tell whether the Venom threequel can give them one. After all, most fans aren't expecting much from Kraven the Hunter, a movie recently pushed back to December 13.
Now, a first look at the stunt team's crew gift has been revealed and it may reveal Venom: The Last Dance's big bad.
As you can see in the X post below, green is being used for the "3" in the movie's logo, while three green slashes can also be seen across the Symbiote's unmistakable face.
Looking at the comics, we have to believe this is meant as a reference to Lasher.

Opulent to outrageous, elegant to excessive, Monday night’s Met Gala red carpet was equal parts star-studded and visually stunning. Then again, with Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth as the evening’s co-chairs, how could it not?
Fold in scores of other stars — were there ever this many at a Met Gala — including Nicole Kidman, Alexandra Daddario, Barry Keoghan, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Williams and Serena Williams, and the 2024 Met Gala ranked as among the most thrilling and stylish in recent memory.
This year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” took its cue from the 1962 short story of the same name by J.G. Ballard, which dovetails nicely with the latest Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, which opens to the public on Friday, May 10. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is an artist who needs no introduction. The multi-millionaire singer has wowed her audience with her music since she started in the industry with Destiny’s Child. After some additions and replacements, the girl group ended up with Beyonce alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams in 1990.

But a decade and a half later, the singers decided to go their own way, and Beyonce ended up being a sensation in the music world with her solo career. She is not only a singer but has also tried her hands at acting, like Dreamgirls (2006) and The Lion King (2019). The latter is spawning a prequel movie with Beyonce returning to voice the character of Nala opposite Donald Glover’s Simba. But the new movie is once again, hinting at some nepotism debates to start soon.

Alien artist Hr Giger was involved in a number of film projects in the 1980s and 90s. We talk to filmmaker William Malone about some amazing films that never happened.
Given just how genre-defining 1979’s Alien was, it’s perhaps surprising that Hr Giger, the Swiss artist who designed the title monster, wasn’t involved in more films. His creations appeared in the likes of Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986), Species (1995), plus a little-seen German indie comedy horror called Killer Condoms (1996), but none were as high-profile or influential as Alien.
In the wake of that genre-defining space horror, other artists and designers tinkered with Giger’s unforgettable xenomorph in its sequels. Giger wasn’t involved in the making of Aliens, Alien Resurrection or subsequent prequels or spin-offs, and his work for Alien 3 was barely used. Instead, Giger had the curious habit of coming up with concepts and artwork for...

In 2014, Gayle Rankin made her Broadway debut in Sam Mendes’ revival of Cabaret, playing the supporting role of Fraulein Kost. Now, exactly a decade later, Rankin is playing the lead role of Sally Bowles opposite Eddie Redmayne in a new Broadway production that opened April 21.
“I feel like a completely different person,” says Rankin, as she sits in her dressing room in a red dressing gown, with her blond hair clipped back. “It’s so rare that you get to see your life marked by something so actual, by a piece of work. And what a piece of work to be able to gauge where you are as a human being.”
In recent years, the Scottish actress — who grew up south of Glasgow — rose to prominence with a series of film and TV roles, including The Greatest Showman and HBO’s Perry Mason, and most notably as Sheila the She-Wolf...

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we revisit the packed limited series race, which has seen three new contenders premiere in the last three weeks.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’ve circled back to what is arguably the most competitive Emmys category this year: limited series. It feels like as good a time as any to return to my favorite race – particularly with “Shōgun” and Anna Sawai dominating the discourse, as well as the premiere of our dark horse favorite “Under the Bridge.” We talked about both shows this week with our voices, and I must say, it feels heartening — dare I type, Siri pay “Vindicated” – to have been so right about “Shōgun.” We both loved that show way back in February and the response has been off the charts.

For those like myself, who adore witnessing Anya Taylor-Joy grace the scene in enchanting gowns adorned with flowing fabrics and soft pastel hues, it’s time to prepare for a shift.
She’s undergoing a style metamorphosis, embracing a fusion of ethereal textures and an all-black aesthetic.
Anya Taylor-Joy captivates with sartorial duality, first in a sophisticated Christian Dior black midi dress with sheer details and opera gloves at the Dior Pre-Fall show, then exuding edgy allure in a studded Ludovic de Saint Sernin mini dress alongside Chris Hemsworth at CinemaCon 2024 (Credit: Instarimages)
Lately, Anya has been gravitating towards a darker palette, likely influenced by her role in her upcoming movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which will hit theaters on May 24.
In this film, she embodies the titular character Imperator Furiosa, a member of a motorcycle horde and a younger iteration of the role Charlize Theron portrayed in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

The intensely poetic dark passion behind “Blue Valentine” seeped into even its road to the big screen, according to writer/director Derek Cianfrance.
During IndieWire’s “Screen Talk” live at the New Directors/New Films festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art, Cianfrance told podcast co-hosts Ryan Lattanzio and Anne Thompson that he believed the project itself was “cursed” for more than a decade due to its stalled production process. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams eventually were cast as an ill-fated married couple struggling to maintain their love across years together.
Cianfrance began writing the script for the Oscar-nominated feature while at Sundance 1998 after the premiere of his debut film “Brother Tied.” It took him 12 years and 66 script drafts until “Blue Valentine” was finally released in 2010.
“For ‘Blue Valentine,’ I spent so many years [on it]. People said, ‘Just make the movie,'” Cianfrance said. “For me on that movie,...

The Fabelmans (2022), arguably Steven Spielberg’s most personal movie to date, had everyone talking. Starring Michelle Williams and Paul Dano, it’s a semi-autobiographical tale that’s loosely based on the director’s childhood and his early years as a film director.
However, Spielberg’s reluctance to delve into his family’s history stemmed from worries that his parents would suffer, so the project was dropped for twenty years. Regardless, with seven Oscar nominations upon its release, The Fabelmans has generated a lot of Oscar buzz.
James Cameron’s Avatar
Does that encourage other filmmakers to document their own life stories on screen? Well, the director of Avatar and Titanic, though, is not going to take that route. James Cameron remains surprisingly uninterested when it comes to sharing the story of his own journey to success on the big screen because he finds it “boring”.

Whenever a big teen drama comes to an end, there’s the inevitable question: “Where does the cast go from here?” The teen TV pipeline can catapult its stars anywhere from Lifetime flicks to Oscar-winning films (just look at Michelle Williams) to career pivots into music, fashion, or directing. Some stars take a brief hiatus from acting, like Dylan and Cole Sprouse during their years attending NYU, while others never return to Hollywood at all. Whatever path they ultimately choose, it can understandably take a while for former teen show stars to figure out their next move.

The glamorous (and handsomely paid) actors and actresses who bring our favorite films and TV shows to life often captivate us, but let us not forget that the real heroes are the artistic wizards behind the camera: the directors. They are in charge of choosing the ideal cast and setting the overall direction of the production, which includes what you see on screen.
Christopher Nolan, the genius behind Inception and Interstellar, and James Cameron, the maestro of Terminator to Titanic who maintained the excitement for Avatar 2 in 2022, more than ten years after the first film’s release, are two auteurs who established their careers through writing and directing in their own iconic styles.

Saturday Night Live mocked Donald Trump’s most recent venture — promoting the “God Bless the USA Bible” — on its most recent episode.
The product, which is “inspired by” country musician Lee Greenwood’s song “God Bless the USA,” is being sold for $59.99. It includes the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance and the handwritten chorus to “God Bless the USA.”
In Saturday’s cold open, Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) noted that it’s Easter — “the time of year when I compare myself to Jesus Christ. That’s just the thing I do now and people seem to be Ok with it. I’m gonna keep doing it. And if you think that this is a bad look, imagine how weird it would be if I started selling Bibles. Actor Heath Ledger died tragically young in 2008 at the age of 28. The loss of the actor at such a young age not only was a huge blow to his family, friends and fans, but also left a huge hole in film history since we will never know what the actor would have accomplished in his later years.
It makes his death even more tragic in a strange way in that Ledger just seemed to be hitting his stride as an actor. His performance as The Joker in “The Dark Knight,” released shortly after his death, brought him critical raves and a posthumous Oscar as Best Supporting Actor.
Ledger began acting as a teenager on television in his native Australia. A series of successful roles there and in a few Australian films led to him being cast in the American teenage comedy “10 Things I Hate About You.” With his teen idol good looks,...

The highest grossing director of all time, Steven Spielberg enjoys high-brow classics as much as crowd-pleasing blockbusters. Known for “Jurassic Park,” “Indiana Jones,” “Jaws,” “West Side Story” (2021), and more favorites, the beloved American filmmaker premiered his semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans” in theaters last November.
The movie, nominated for seven Oscars (winning none), tells the story of how Spielberg came to be Spielberg — chiefly through the lens of his parents’ traumatic divorce. Boasting a cast that includes not just Michelle Williams and Paul Dano as Spielberg’s mom and dad, but also David Lynch in a rare acting opportunity, “The Fabelmans” was described by IndieWire’s David Ehrlich as an epic rendering of “the breakup that launched a million blockbusters.”
Following the contemplative mood of two-ish years in Covid-19 lockdown, the 2022 fall film season was chockfull of projects meditating on the role — and, in the case of “TÁR,” responsibility — of artists. How...

The delicious “Mary & George” may well serve up a feast of Emmy nominations. This limited series on Starz stars Julianne Moore as the Countess of Buckingham, who groomed her son, George Villiers (Nicholas Galitzine), to seduce King James I (Tony Curran). The Countess uses her son as a pawn to scheme her way to riches, titles, and influence in 1600s England.
The series, adapted by award-winning playwright D.C. Moore from Benjamin Woolley’s bestseller “The King’s Assassin,” is a sumptuous period drama. The show is in the same vein as Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Oscar-winning “The Favourite,” swapping out the usual stuffy nature of such fare for a raucous, romp through history.
Moore, who won the Best Actress Oscar in 2015 for “Still Alice,” is on reliably good form here. She chews up every scene and commands the screen with authority. Galitzine, meanwhile, proves he is more than just the most...

James Van Der Beek and Kerr Smith are looking back at filming Dawson’s Creek and recalled some death-defying experiences they had on jet skis at the time.
This week, the two actors told People magazine at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, that things would sometimes get a bit wild behind the scenes of the hit teen drama when they were filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.
“A couple of the guys on the crew had boats and you know we had the guest stars come in and the writers come in every episode and we would take them out on the water on the weekends,” Smith, who played Jack McPhee, recalled. “We’d stop and eat crab in the morning yet. And we’d fill up the boats with whatever we needed. We would barbecue out on the island. We all had jet skis.”

While Sony’s Spider-Verse movies Madame Web and Morbius both laid eggs at the box office (to put it mildly), another live-action franchise from the studio has been minting money – the Venom films. Despite pretty awful reviews, the first movie made $856 million worldwide. The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only made just over $500 million (still a lot of moolah), but that was due to opening during the pandemic (it was actually the third highest-grossing movie of the year). With the third film pretty much guaranteed to make money no matter how it fares with critics, Sony is moving it up slightly on the release calendar, with it now set for October 25th, 2024. The movie also has a new title, Venom: The Last Dance.
This pre-Halloween weekend propelled Five Nights at Freddy’s to a huge opening, and Sony is no doubt hoping to score with horror audiences as well as superhero fans.

It's become something of a tradition here at Tfe to guess which just-celebrated actor will be back soonest for another Oscar season. Last year at this time you (collectively) guessed that Cate Blanchett (29%), Michelle Williams (15%), Paul Mescal (15%) and Barry Keoghan (9%) would be the quickest to return. Nobody returned immediately but of those four only Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) seemed like a real possibility this time around. But his film and even his performance were divisive so that happens.

Ryan Gosling began acting as a kid and has never looked back. Having made his acting debut on the show- The Mickey Mouse Club alongside future stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera, he has shined through as a performer in the years he has spent working as an actor.
Whether it be his dancing skills for La La Land or taking on the risky role of Ken in Barbie, Gosling has never been one to back away from challenges. He unknowingly gave one such challenge to himself when he was filming The Place Beyond the Pines. Ironically, this was the film in which he played the role of the love interest of Eva Mendes, whom he married in reality later.

Given the back-to-back additions of Alicia Vikander and Viola Davis to the list of Best Supporting Actress Oscar winners with the five highest amounts of screen time, one might have reasonably expected subsequent recipients of the award to follow suit. However, since they all clocked in under 29 minutes, none of the last half dozen victors even cracked the top 30, and that trend is almost sure to continue in 2024. Indeed, all but one of the category’s five current hopefuls are nominated for performances that are shorter than at least half of the ones that have ever merited this honor.
The 2024 supporting actress nominees have an average screen time of 29 minutes and 48 seconds, or 22.97% of their respective films. These amounts are almost four minutes and over 3% greater than last year’s. In terms of physical time, their average is the 16th highest in the category’s 88-year history, while their percentage mean is the 25th highest.

Another big award show took place this weekend (in addition to the SAG Awards), the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which celebrates indie film and TV. One thing about this awards show is that their idea of independent sometimes makes me scratch my head a bit, with HBO’s big-budget The Last of Us nominated a whole bunch in the TV category, along with Netflix’s Beef and several other streaming shows, which I’m not sure one could call independent. For films, there’s a $30 million budget cap. For TV, I’m honestly not sure what the benchmark is because Last of Us was notoriously an expensive show to shoot, costing at least $100 million.
Indeed, The Last of Us won some key awards on the TV side, winning Best Supporting Performance (for Nick Offerman) and Best Breakthrough Performance (for Keivonn Montreal Woodard). Over on the film side, American Fiction and...
