Are sunny days in store for fans of the Days of Our Lives TV series? In an exclusive with soap reporter Michael Maloney, for TV Line, NBC Entertainment Chair, Robert Greenblatt, says negotiations to renew NBC's last surviving soap opera are set for February. The daytime drama is currently in its 51st broadcast season.
Days of Our Lives premiered on NBC, November 8, 1965. The soap marked its 50th anniversary with a bicentennial celebration of the show's fictional Midwestern town setting, Salem USA. This was no festive fête for Salem's finest (or worst). Fan-favorite Peter Reckell returned, so that his character Bo Brady could rescue and reunite with Kristian Alfonso's Hope Williams Brady, only to die in her arms, the next day.

Days of Our Lives is not giving up Hope, as star Kristian Alfonso has inked a new deal to remain with the NBC soap.
“I love my Days family, I love my job and I love our fans,” the actress said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter (who first broke the news).
Alfonso has portrayed fan-fave Salem detective Hope Williams Brady — and half of the super-couple, Bo and Hope — since 1983, after the character suffered a case of Soras (that’s “Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome,” for the uninitiated).

Here at AfterElton.com, people aren't shy about naming their TV crushes, whether it's a sometimes-brooding, sometimes-happy-go-lucky roguish time traveler, a gruff, strong-willed police officer or a cable TV decorator stud. But there had to be someone who started it all for each of us. The one who first made our young selves one day notice that there was more to these TV shows than just the spaceships, cartoons, and things blowing up. Someone who made our pulse race and previously non-tingly parts go all tingly.
That was the hot topic of conversations at the AfterElton break room this week: Who was your first TV crush?
The responses we got varied quite a bit. Some people remembered the teen idols of their youth, some people remembered a character who didn't make the wardrobe department work very hard, while others remembered someone who ... surprised us.
But we don't want to just hear from Ae writers.

X Kristian Alfonso has played the pivotal role of Hope Williams Brady on "Days of our Lives" for almost two-thirds of the daytime drama's 45-year history. Surprisingly, she has only contended for one Daytime Emmy with a 1985 bid for "Best Ingénue the precursor to the Younger Actress category. She admits to being surprised at that recognition as she had only recently joined the show. While the Daytime Emmys may have been chilly to her, she continues to select her sample episode every year. As she told Gold Derby, "I look for a tape in which I am not just emotional all the time." Alfonso admits to being too critical of her own performance, so she seeks out the opinions of others. Among those whose counsel she values is "Dool" executive producer Ken Corday, "the captain of our ship." He is the son of Ted and Betty Corday, the husband and wife who created the series.

'Days of our Lives' turns 45 on Nov. 8. For 27 of those years, beloved fan favorites Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso have been entertaining viewers as star-crossed lovers Bo Brady and Hope Williams Brady.
As one of the most romantic super-couples on soaps ever, Bo and Hope have battled everything over the decades starting with her father's resistance to their romance to her trying to kill him while zoned out on prescription meds.
The couple's current conflict has Hope incarcerated, having been convicted for crimes she committed while under the influence. She may -- or may not -- get out of the big house in time to hang her bulb on the Horton Christmas tree (the traditional ceremony is a favorite among 'Days' viewers.) But fans in the Los Angeles area can see the actors, along with the rest of the cast, at a...
