Received an Academy Award nomination for his cinematography in
Tora!ToraTora!.
Spent most of his life in Los Angeles, where he played polo for
University of Southern California. He happened into his first job, as
an apprentice cameraman for Disney, after meeting Walt and Roy Disney
at a polo field.
While on location at Wheeler field for "Tora! Tora! Tora!" (1970), the crew photographed him by a large sign that read "Keep Wheeler Clean.".
