Here's hoping that the "final talks" John Malkovich is currently having with Summit Entertainment turn into a firm commitment because we can't imagine anyone better to join the studio's zombie flick Warm Bodies than him.
According to Variety Malkovich would play General Grigio, who's obsessed with the destruction of the zombie threat. Jonathan Levine is writing and directing the film based on the novel by Isaac Marion, which will star Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, and Rob Corddry. Shooting starts this month.
Based on the book by Isaac Marion, the story follows an existentially tormented zombie named "R" (Hoult) who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims. It starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies, and maybe the whole undead world.
Bruna Papandrea is producing through her Make Movies banner along with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman via their Mandeville Films banner.

Former "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" correspondent Rob Corddry has seen and done a lot in his career. Everything from firing guns while intoxicated to going back in time via hot tub to nail hot chicks. Now it's time for the man to move into the big leagues by tacking zombies. Definitely the next logical step, wouldn't you say?

Last month we reported on Nicholas Hoult’s attachment to the forthcoming Warm Bodies, a Zombie/romance “mash-up” at Summit Entertainment to be directed by the creator of The Wackness, Jonathan Levine and based on the popular novel by Isaac Morrison.
Now, just a few days later, it appears the film may have its female love interest, another young and upcoming star in Teresa Palmer who has entered talks. She is set to play the daughter of a military leader in a war between zombie’s and humans in what studio marketers are calling “Twilight meets Dawn of the Dead meets Shaun of the Dead.” The reason for the Twilight link is that Hoult plays a member of the undead (a zombie) who falls in love with the girlfriend of one of his victims (Palmer).
