The following post contains spoilers for "Andor."
"Andor" has completed the first of two seasons in the story leading up to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," and we've added some great new characters to a galaxy far, far away. Since this is "Star Wars" we're talking about, it only makes sense that one of the very best of them is a droid. It was easy to fall in love with the boxy B2EMO, the companion to Maarva (Fiona Shaw), Cassian's (Diego Luna) adoptive mother. He is a bit grumpy here and there, and he's not so good at lying, but mostly, he's just watching out for the friend he loves and is protective of her after so many years together. Droids may have a shelf life, but if they stay in good condition, they'll sadly outlive many of their human buddies.

The Dream Syndicate will release their third studio album in four years this spring with The Universe Inside, the Paisley Underground pioneers’ exploration of krautrock and electric jazz.

Of the four new albums here, two feature a modern-rock journeyman in exuberant form and back to work, against extraordinary odds. Another affirms the full-strength return of a great American band, 30 years after they broke up. And they are all rich in the exhilarating — and healing — chime of electric guitars.
There are comebacks in rock & roll, even resurrections. Then there is Scott McCaughey. In November 2017, the singer-guitarist-songwriter of the Minus 5 suffered a near-fatal stroke on the road, erasing a life of songs with his many bands including the Young Fresh Fellows,...

If John Travolta never gets his live acting career back on track he can always rely on voice acting. Bolt may be the best thing Travolta's done in the last ten years (if you ignore the extras on the set). It never seeks to break the mold of the buddy road trip formula, but it does find new tricks to play on the dog-cat relationship that has been an animation staple since who knows when. Cave paintings, I think. As it turns out, all the cat versus dog dynamic needed was a dramatically overconfident dog and a horribly jaded cat - Bolt fetches and then delivers.
Bolt (John Travolta) lives in a Truman Show-esque existence. He thinks he's a superpowered spy dog capable of barking sonic booms, jumping over helicopters and turning machine guns to slag with his heat-ray emitting eyes. Pretty...

Kung Fu Panda shut out its competition in every major feature film category at the 36th annual Annie Awards celebrating 2008’s best animated movies. The DreamWorks Animation pic bested critic favorite Wall-e and other nominee Bolt for “Best Feature.”
The surprise win is the first time DreamWorks has beaten a Pixar film for the top prize since 2001’s Shrek over Pixar’s Monster’s Inc. Panda took home fifteen statues Friday night and tied for the most wins ever. The Annie Award has matched the “Best Animated Feature” category at the Academy Awards every single year but one.
I thoroughly enjoyed Kfp, but I was under the impression that Wall-e was a better film all around. While DreamWorks Animation has stepped up its game in recent years, Pixar’s animation was exceptional. This is a major upset, especially since Wall-e went home with nothing. The Oscar race just got even more interesting.

The Academy Awards are slowly creeping up, just three months away now with buzz seeming to only surround a handful of movies. But one piece of the puzzle and a solid indicator of the “Best Animated Feature” Oscar are the Annie Awards, now in their 36th year.
DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda earned 16 total nominations, a tie for the most in the history of the ceremonies. The other movies to pull that off were 2004’s The Incredibles and 2005’s Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Since the Annies started, the Annie Award for “Best Animated Feature” has predicted the Oscar winner every single time but once.
This is huge for DreamWorks, who makes successful animated movies like Shrek, but hasn’t seem to put out the quality of film that Pixar seems to churn out on a regular basis. Just for comparison, this year’s expert pick for...

On Monday, December 1, the International Animated Film Society, Asifa-Hollywood, has come out with an announcement of 2008 Annie Awards' nominations. Dominating the list is "Kung Fu Panda" with 17 nods for the animated features category as well as for video games category.
In the feature film category itself, this DreamWorks Animation comedy has collected in total 16 nods. One comes from the production category, that is Best Animated Feature, whereas the rest from the individual nominations. For the Best Voice Acting title, "Panda" has managed to put three of its voice actors, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong and Ian McShane, to compete with voice actors from "Wall-e" and "Bolt". Additionally, it also gives directors John Stevenson and Mark Osborne a shot for Best Animated Film Director.
Beside "Kung Fu Panda", other movies collecting multiple nominations for Annie are "Bolt" and "Wall-e". "Bolt" has earned 9 counts and "Wall-e" has landed on 8 nods. Both of which...

The players: Directors: Chris Williams, Byron Howard, Writers: Dan Fogelman, Chris Williams, Voice cast: John Travolta, Susie Essman, Miley Cyrus, Mark Walton, Malcolm McDowell
Facts of interest: None.
The plot: Bolt is a super-dog who spends most of his time emarking on perilous adventures to protect the world from bad guys, at least until he discovers none of it is real and he's just the star of a TV show.
Our thoughts: “Bolt” is Walt Disney’s latest computer-animated family adventure, and unlike other projects the studio has previously tackled without the support of Pixar, this one pretty much hits all the right notes. The world of Bolt the super-dog is exciting, explosive and touching, and being part of it for 96 minutes feels darn good.

Animated charmer falls into awkward place
The era of family animation spiked with irony and winking asides for adults in the audience arrived with the CG format, and together the new traditions have come to dominate what was once a conservative standby in Hollywood. DreamWorks briefly co-opted Disney’s habitual dominance of the format with the Shrek franchise, but Disney decisively reclaimed it with its fateful (and bluntly expensive) acquisition of Pixar in 2006.

Bolt
Featuring the voices of John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, and Mark Walton
Directed by Byron Howard and Chris Williams
Rated PG
Disney’s Bolt should not be confused with a Disney Pixar film. It’s high praise to suggest that it could be, and while it lacks the remarkable writing of the very best Pixar movies, the quality of the animation and the entertainment value is not far off the pace.
Actually, Bolt may help Disney level the playing field with Pixar, which is already getting much stronger competition from DreamWorks with films like Kung Fu Panda. This is fast-paced, funny, creates memorable characters, and offers as much for adults to enjoy as it does the wee ones.
Bolt (John Travolta) is the star of his own primetime show, on which he saves the planet every week with his adoring co-star, Penny (Miley Cyrus). He believes he’s blessed with superpowers,...

Bolt Directed by: Byron Howard, Chris Williams Cast (voices): John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Susie Essman, Mark Walton Running Time: 1 hr 30 min Rating: PG Plot: This animated movie has Bolt (Travolta) the dog as the star of the biggest television show, but he doesn’t understand that none of it is real. When he believes his television owner, Penny (Cyrus), has been kidnapped, he escapes from his handlers and ends up alone, and without his special effects powers, on the streets of New York. Who’s It For? Kids who don’t scare easily. It’s mildly enjoyable for adults, but, honestly, it might give young children nightmares. Expectations: From the previews, I thought I was going to really like this movie. I have a weakness for smart animation with subverted veins of adult humor. Walt Disney Pictures have brought forward a brand new trailer of its family comedy animation, "Bolt". Opened with a shot of a hamster cage in a mobile home, the video footage slowly gets closer to each of the hamsters kept inside their 'glass house'. The scene then moves on to show that a TV-obsessed hamster is channel-surfing in front of the tube and finds one show he likes, "Bolt the Super Dog".
Presenting Bolt as a super dog in front of the camera and an ordinary one off, the trailer reveals many never-before-seen footage from the Chris Williams and Byron Howard-directed movie. It displays the comic adventures of the superstar dog has to undergo as he tries to find his way back to where he belongs, in the arms of his owner, Penny.

Feeling pressure from Monsters vs. Aliens, Walt Disney Pictures has responded with a CG-animated trailer of their own. While we can assume that they will never be able to outdo the film's extended action clip, we do have a new trailer for Bolt.

A music video in support of Miley Cyrus' new song "I Thought I Lost" which features John Travolta and serves as a soundtrack for computer-animated movie "Bolt" has been debuted. On the music video, Cyrus and Travolta's in-video performance is sometimes intercepted with a scene showing the title character of the movie, Bolt, and his owner and co-star, Penny, fleeing from bike riders' chase through the Big Apple's busy traffic.
"Bolt" is an animated comedy movie starring John Travolta as Bolt, a superstar dog accidentally shipped out from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, Susie Essman as a jaded houscat named Mittens, Mark Walton as TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino and Miley Cyrus as Penny. The family movie is directed by Chris Williams and Byron Howard and will hit the U.S. theaters on November 21.

A new extended clip from the latest Disney's animated motion pictures, "Bolt", has been unraveled. Called "The Chase", the three-minute video footage uncovers the scene where Bolt and his co-star Penny make their way through the busy traffic in order to avoid capture from the bike riders who are hot on their tails.
Being a non-Pixar Disney animation, "Bolt" puts together a story of a super star dog who is accidentally shipped out from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City. Having to find his way home and learning that he is indeed an ordinary dog like any others outside the studio, he joins forces with a jaded, abandoned housecat named Mittens and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino. Soon enough, he finds out that he doesn't need his imaginative superpower to be a real hero in life.

This November, Disney will release Bolt, the studio's latest computer animated cartoon. As the most family-friendly flick new to theaters around Thanksgiving, it doesn't take a genius to predict that this one ought to do pretty well. After all, kids will love it because it's about a dog. Kids will love it because it's animated. And kids will love it because Miley Cyrus voices one of the characters.
If you don't think millions of parents will have to plunk down $30 or more to see this one, you're wrong.
The good news is that Bolt looks like it's at least OK. Tough to tell from the trailer if it's going to be really good, but I have cause to be skeptical because we've seen some bad animated movies this year, particularly Fly Me to the Moon. This does look a lot more entertaining than that one, though.
