Jessica Chastain is one of Hollywood’s most vocal advocates of gender equity. So many on Twitter reacted with alarm at the fact that Matthew Newton, named as the director of her upcoming movie “Eve,” has a history of physical assault accusations, including against two ex-girlfriends.
Newton has said his history of mental illness, drugs and drinking are responsible for the charges, and he has repeatedly sought help. He pleaded guilty in 2007 to one count of common assault on his ex, Brooke Satchwell, but the conviction was later overturned after his psychiatrist said he suffered from depression and was unlikely to reoffend. But he faced more assault accusations later, involving then-girlfriend Rachael Taylor.
Given the reversal of the conviction on the common assault charge, it does not appear that he has ever been convicted. He has not had any apparent trouble with the law since 2012, the year he says he became sober.

Jessica Jones season 2 was a hugely important one for the relationship between the eponymous super-powered super-sleuth and her adoptive sister, Trish Walker. The former child star turned wannabe journalist went off the deep-end, eventually killing Jess’ troubled mother, which split them apart. What’s more, due to an experimental procedure she’d put herself through earlier in the season, Trish’s last appearance in the finale teased that she’d developed enhanced reflexes.
Fans familiar with the comics were sure this meant that Trish was about to become Hellcat, her superhero alter-ego on the page, when Jj returns. And now that season 3 of the hit Marvel/Netflix drama is going before the cameras, a set video that’s leaked online only adds more fuel to the theory. Seen via the link below, it features actress Rachael Taylor performing her own stunts, as we see her running up a wall and back-flipping off of it.

Marvel's Jessica Jones is currently in production on its third season. The series recently began shooting in New York City and this season, series star Krysten Ritter, will be making her directorial debut.
We don't know what episode she will be directing or any details on the story, but she's excited to get behind the camera! This is what she had to say in a statement:
"I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins."
I think it's pretty awesome that Ritter will get to direct an episode and I'm sure that this won't be the last time she directs something.

Good news, Jessica Jones fans! Star Krysten Ritter has confirmed that season 3 of the Marvel/Netflix show should go before cameras very soon, meaning we could a new batch of episodes as early as next year. On the other hand, it means we’ll have to deal with the emotional fallout of the recent season 2, as Jess and her adoptive sister Trish Walker, usually the only person she can rely on, had their bond irrefutably shattered.
In case you don’t recall, Trish spent much of the last run on an obsessive quest to give herself similar powers to Jessica. After undergoing a dangerous procedure, she then killed Jess’ mother, Alisa. Sure, she was a disturbed murderer and Trish said she was trying to save her sister, but it’s still going to be difficult for Jess to get over that. In fact, the last time we saw them, Jess disowned Trish as her family.

“From the very beginning when we started this journey, Jessica has always been a character who has been very of its time,” Marvel’s Head of TV, Jeph Loeb, told Variety on Saturday.
Loeb appeared at Netflix’s Fysee panel event, moderated by Variety’s own executive editor of TV, Debra Birnbaum, in honor of the second season of Marvel’s “Jessica Jones.” Rachael Taylor, who plays Jessica’s best friend-cum-sister Trish Walker, praised how the series “always puts character first while diving into all these different social issues. It’s so unexpected for a genre show but such a joy for us to play.”

Despite the upcoming competitive online streaming service from Disney, the parent company to Marvel Comics, Jessica Jones Season 3 will reside at the home where it began.
Jessica Jones Season 2 premiered a month ago on International Women's Day, and while it wasn't received with quite the fanfare of Jessica Jones Season 1, it is still the most highly regarded of the Marvel series airing on Netflix.
Critics and fans alike have come to love the portrayal of the gritty, embittered, and emotional Jones by its star, Krysten Ritter.

Marvel’s superhero drama has been renewed for a third season at Netflix, the streaming giant said Thursday.
Season 2 dropped last month, three years after the show’s initial run in 2015. In Season 2, fans were given a little more of Jessica and Trish’s backstory as they take on a case close to Jessica (no spoilers, promise).

Season 2 featured all female directors, something Ritter told TheWrap is “something to celebrate.”
“Obviously created by a woman, stars women, this season it felt just so on-brand and exciting moment to celebrate these female filmmakers,” she said ahead of the Season 2 premiere. “They didn’t go into it with this intention it happened organically and that to me is really exciting.”
Krysten Ritter stars as the titular superhero, along with Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg executive produces, as does Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. “Jessica Jones” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

If you're a fan of Marvel's Jessica Jones series, you'll be happy to hear that Netflix has renewed it for Season 3! I personally love what Marvel and the creative team have done with this Jessica Jones series. The first season was so good, and even though some people didn't care for Season 2, I thought it was fantastic! I thought it told a great and powerful story with incredible character development.
There's no word on what the plot of Season 3 will be, but Kristen Ritter will reprise her role as the hard-drinking, super-powered New York City private investigator. With a person that has had such a hard life, I imagine that Jessica Jones will still be trying to keep herself together, especially after what she went through in Season 2! I also just have to say that Kristien Ritter has given such an incredible performance in this series!

“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” Season 2 did a lot of work in building up the backstory for Jessica and her associates, but no element of that was as much of an earworm as “I Want Your Cray-Cray,” the big pop hit released by Jessica Jones’ best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), years before Jessica Jones began to be anything resembling a hero.
“It’s the most obnoxious song, but it’s hilarious,” creator Melissa Rosenberg told IndieWire recently, and it’s worth admiring how, in the video below, there really is only one lyric.
“I loved shooting that music video,” Rosenberg said. “It was the worst song ever. The point of it was a play on these Disney stars that have their moments as pop stars and their songs are like ‘I throw my hair,’ like one line. One lyric.”

The second season of Jessica Jones was a hit with critics. We praised the show for its willingness to step out of the shadow of its excellent first season, and how it shows genuine growth for Jessica, Trish Walker, Malcolm, Jeri Hogarth, and others. But the big question is: will Jessica Jones Season 3 happen?
Yes it will. This is good to know because Jessica Jones Season 3 was never a sure thing, as nothing should be taken for granted with any Netflix show, let alone a Marvel one. And things have been looking pretty bleak for the Marvel Netflix Universe in general, with cancelations cancelations of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and The Punisher. SpoilerTV has returned from Hell’s Kitchen bearing gifts; specifically, a raft of new action shots for Jessica Jones season 2.
Embedded below, this fresh gallery of high-res images essentially pays a visit to all of the show’s leading characters, including Krysten Ritter’s whip-smart private eye and her literal partner-in-crime, Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor). They’re up to no good (surprise!), as below you’ll find our heroic duo moseying down a dimly-lit alleyway, before apprehending what can only be a potential suspect towards the end of the gallery.
And then, there are the new faces. Although critics came down hard on Jessica Jones season 2 for its thinly-drawn villain, who is seemingly a far cry from David Tennant’s Kilgrave, this particular batch of photos alludes to Jessica’s new antagonist, and we’re inclined to believe it has something to do with the comic book character known as Typhoid Mary.

Marvel’s stable of Netflix shows has been, to put it mildly, far more hit or miss than the movies - though one show that quite definitely hit with audiences far more than it missed was 2016’s Jessica Jones.

Today, Netflix released the second trailer for its highly anticipated original series Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Check it out right here!
New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why. Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an incredible returning cast that includes Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Danville (Malcolm Ducasse) and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez, among others.
From what we know and have seen (which is still very little) J.R Ramirez will be playing Oscar, the new superintendent of Jessica’s embattled NYC apartment building. Portraying a devoted single father of a son who has become...

Time for more soul searching with what may be one of the most flawed heroes to date in the marvel universe, Jessica Jones. The season 2 trailer hit youtube today and before we get into anything lets take a look at it.

Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.
As I mentioned Jessica is one of the most flawed heroes to come out of the pages of the comics to a TV series. Although It wasn’t one of my favorites initially the series did grow on me on a second watch, and I can’t wait to see what demons return to haunt Jessica once again.

“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” is back for another healthy dose of dark psychological thrills. The first season of the Netflix series focused on the clash between Jessica (Krysten Ritter) and Kilgrave (David Tennant), a conflict rife with history that haunted Jessica everywhere she went. Even though the private detective Defender is on a new case in the new season, the trauma from her past is likely not disappearing anytime soon. The show has never been one to shy away from the dark social issues plaguing society, and from the latest trailer, that looks to continue to be the case in Season 2.
On a more positive note, the second season will be delving deeper into the friendship between Jessica and Trish Walker, a relationship that showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has deemed “the core relationship in the piece.” Rachael Taylor reprises her role as Trish in the new season, joining Carrie-Anne Moss and Eka Darville.

Netflix has released the first trailer for Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2! They also announced that the 13-episode season will premiere on March 8th, 2018!
I loved the first season of this show and Season 2 looks like it might turn out even better. This is a great adrenaline-fueled first trailer and Season 2 looks awesome! In the trailer, Jessica even calls out Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben in an amusing way. She obviously just doesn’t give a crap about the whole “with great power comes great responsibility” advice. She just wants to beat the hell out of anyone that deserves it.

It looks like ABC have seen the success Netflix have had with Jessica Jones and have decided they want a piece of the action. Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival (as reported by THR), Marvel Television senior VP of original programming Karim Zreik talked about the projects they have in development. As well as mentioning familiar series such as Inhumans and Cloak and Dagger, Zreik revealed that Marvel and ABC are also working on a new show described as “Jessica Jones-esque.”
That’s all we know right now, but it’s enough to get fans excited. The big question is: which Marvel comics property could the show be based off? Well, first we have to ascertain what Zreik means by “Jessica Jones-esque.” The simplest option would be that it’s also based around a female superhero/private detective. This leaves a couple of options given Marvel’s back catalogue.

Marvel’s newest Netflix show, the Defenders, debuts this week, uniting the heroes of its previous four entries. The series mostly delivers what you’d want from a super hero team-up show, but it doesn’t present us with anything unexpected or innovative. (Spoilers below)
Trying to do something akin to the Avengers on a television budget without disappointing fans is a tough challenge. The Defenders needs to rely more on story and characterizations than the McU films do. Fortunately, the show has several popular characters to work with. The Netflix show brings back comic book heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), who have all starred in previous Netflix series of varying quality. While the Defenders is not the best Marvel Netflix show, it’s not the worst either. It’s somewhere in the middle.

Last Friday, my pal Larry Hama invited me to a “friends and family” screening of the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders. I mean the new series debuting on Netflix today, not the classic television show, The Defenders, the source of many many jokes made during the screening.
Also in attendance: Tony Isabella, Michael Gaydos and his adorable son, Arvell Jones, and the families of Archie Goodwin and George Tuska. Plus a bunch of current Marvel folks who had probably already seen the whole series, but who were gracious hosts.
Before the screening began, I was feeling pretty warm and fuzzy about seeing so many of my old friends and meeting people whose work I admired. Hence, I was psyched to enjoy two hours in a comfy chair in a screening room.
Mostly, I had a great time. I have a huge crush on Charlie Cox, the beautiful man who plays Matt Murdock.

Like an orchestral conductor building toward a long-anticipated crescendo, Marvel and Netflix’s team-up series, The Defenders, is the result of four disparate and indeed reluctant heroes – namely Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Mike Colter’s hulking Luke Cage – coming together in the name of New York City.
It’s an alliance long foretold, and over the past few months, we’ve learned that not only will The Defenders take place over a single week, but it’s also been confirmed that truncated story will last eight episodes in total – down from the usual Marvel/Netflix template of 13.
And similar to how the cornerstones of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes broke off to headline their own individual solo movie after The Avengers, Marvel and Netflix have reportedly drawn up plans for new helpings of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in 2018. But just as Age of Ultron and even Civil...

Netflix has released the final trailer for Marvel's The Defenders, which is set to premiere next week! The new trailer features the team coming together to fight Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra. In the process, Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist is laid back, having fun, kicking ass, and seems to be annoying the team. There's some cool new footage in the trailer to see that includes a resurrected Elektra taking on Luke Cage. We also see that her samurai sword is no match for Rand's glowing Iron Fist of death.
The Defenders looks like a ton of fun and I like that they are going to have fun with Rand's character in this series. He will be the character who really lightens things up in this dark corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel and Netflix's Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter, was a major game-changer for the superhero genre. A female-led series, no costumes, serious adult themes, and a villain for the ages. Not only was the show critically-acclaimed, but it brought in a whole new audience, who were not necessarily inclined toward crime-fighting or super-powers -- my wife, for example, is not a comic book fan, but Jessica Jones became her spirit animal upon discovering this series.
While we never learned the show's actual viewership numbers (because Netflix), the clear popularity and pop-culture impact of the show ensured that it would be picked up for a second season. In fact, filming for Jessica Jones Season 2 started in April. However, big questions about storyline, villain, and new characters remain open -- the real question fans have to be wondering: how can Marvel top the amazing performances, surprises, and dynamics of Season 1?
