Started The Comic Strip nightclub in New York City in 1976, where he discovered Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser and Carol Leifer, among others. He remained active at The Comic Strip until his death in 2013.
He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William & Mary in 1961 and from Harvard Law School in 1964.
He had a daughter, Ilana Davis, and a son, Scott, with his first wife. He also had four grandchildren.
