If Barbie and Tickle-Me Elmo are too tame for your taste, don’t fret—Applehead Factory has the perfect remedy for you. “Teddy Scares” and “Tofu the Vegan Zombie” are two garishly delightful specialty toy lines, perfect for the "boils" and "ghouls" on your holiday chopping list.
“Teddy Scares” are the dismembered, discarded and undead bears of the past, each equipped with their own tragic back-story, developed by writer Jin Hankins, and ghoulishly-themed wardrobe to boot. “Teddy Scares have lived in the dark corners of my sketchbook [for] about a decade,” says creator Joe Didomenico. “I originally was just drawing them for fun but I always knew they were destined to be more than that.”
Since their inception in 2003, “Teddy Scares” has branched off into two equally morbid series. The first series features characters like “Rita Mortis,” who sports black combat boots and a burgundy plaid jumper that matches her blood red eyes.
