The first trailer for Bloodshot sets Vin Diesel on a Memento-ish rampage.
Vin Diesel action vehicle Bloodshot has unveiled its first trailer, and what better way to start the week? Sure - another day, another comic book movie, but this one has a little Tony Scott-ness to it, so we're going to give it an easy pass.
The directorial debut of Dave Wilson, who was in charge of the visual effects on Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Bloodshot stars Diesel as resurrected supersoldier Raymond Garrison, who has the ability to both shapeshift and heal very quickly, and who becomes a pawn in a deadly game. This is supposed to be the start of a Valiant Entertainment comic book universe, but follow-up project Harbinger has since moved to Paramount, so we'll see. Bloodshot made his first comic appearance all the way back in 1992, having been created by a dreamteam of Kevin VanHook,...

It may not come from a company named DC or Marvel, but Sony’s adaptation of Valiant Comics’ Bloodshot is shaping up to be a pretty exciting project. Set to direct is Dave Wilson, who’s had considerable experience in the genre thanks to his work across films like Avengers: Age of Ultron and Deadpool, and with plans in place to spawn a whole Valiant cinematic universe from Bloodshot, the studio is now busy looking for a leading man.
According to The Wrap, that search is still underway, but from what we understand, a short list is starting to form and it contains the following names: Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult and Mark Wahlberg. All strong candidates and given who Sony’s gunning for here, it’s clear that they’re looking for an A-lister to help bring everything to fruition. It doesn’t appear as if...

Valiant Comics' signature super-soldier, Bloodshot, is coming to the big screen, played by Vin Diesel.
Bloodshot is set to arrive in 2020 as the first feature film adaptation of Valiant Comics, brandishing a headliner in Vin Diesel, who stars as the eponymous nanite-powered super-soldier.
Sony Pictures partnered with the publisher with clear designs for Bloodshot to launch a Valiant Cinematic Universe alongside film projects such as Harbinger and Archer & Armstrong as well as a Quantum & Woody TV series (with the Russo Bros. involved). However, the studio’s dream of harvesting its own shared continuity became mired in doubt back in September after Paramount acquired the rights to Harbinger, a crucial title filled with key characters and concepts in the Valiant lineup, analogous to Marvel’s X-Men IP.
Dave Wilson directed Bloodshot, transitioning from work as a visual effects artist on Avengers: Age of Ultron and an array of video games.

It's been a long time in the making, but it seems like a "Bloodshot" adaptation is finally coming together. There had been rumors Matthew Vaughn would be adapting the Valiant Comics series back in 2010, but nothing ever came to fruition on that. Now new reports are saying that Sony Pictures has acquired the comic with new talents attached to the script.
Deadline is reporting that Jeff Wadlow will write the script for Sony. Wadlow's most well known screenplay is for the 2007 horror film "Prey," but he is also known for directing "Never Back Down" in 2008.
What the Deadline story doesn't mention is any reference of Vaughn's script. Back in March 2010, it was said that Vaughn was writing a "Bloodshot" screenplay, though it was unclear if he would direct it as well. Deadline makes no mention of Vaughn's screenplay -- if it was even finished -- and simply said that he "isn't part of this equation.

With the film adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s "Kick-Ass" only a few weeks away and reports flying around about his next potential project, a new rumor has director Matthew Vaughn adapting an unexpected comic book property.
According to Latino Review Vaughn is planning an adaptation of "Bloodshot," based on the Valiant Comic book series of the same name. Originally created in 1994 by Kevin VanHook and artist Don Perlin, "Bloodshot" followed a former mob enforcer who's betrayed and killed, then resurrected as a modern-day Frankenstein with nanite-infused blood that allowed him to heal from almost any injury.
[Update: Empire indicates that while a script is indeed being written, "Bloodshot" is by no means certain of being Vaughn's next film — and the rumor is exactly that, nothing more.]
When contacted for comment by MTV News, Vaughn's representatives did not respond in time for publication.
The "Bloodshot" comic book series was eventually relaunched with a second volume, which is rumored to be the basis for the "Bloodshot" film. The report also states that Vaughn will self-finance the film and begin casting this summer.

An auction will be held at the Chicago Comic-Con (nee Wizard World Chicago) the evening of Saturday, August 8, 2009 to raise funds for comics veteran John Ostrander, who is undergoing a series of operations and medical treatments to fight off blindness.
A 27-year veteran of the comics field, Ostrander, has long been suffering from glaucoma. Recently, John underwent a series of operations that might have saved his remaining eyesight. Progress has been made but he faces considerably more treatment in the months ahead.
To help Ostrander cover his costs, a committee has been organized called Comix4Sight. Solicitations for the benefit auction have gone out, and the response from the comics community has been overwhelming.
“The cost of these John’s procedures has been astronomical, and are only partially covered by insurance. And by ‘partially,’ I’m being polite,” committee co-chairperson Mike Gold disclosed. “John has to go up to Boston repeatedly for treatment,...
