More star power is being added to the upcoming concert following the coronation of King Charles III.
Previous reports indicated that a bevy of big-name British musical acts — including Adele, Harry Styles, Sir Elton John, the Spice Girls and Ed Sheeran — turned down the opportunity to perform at the Coronation Concert. As a result, the show will feature a roster of decidedly non-British acts, including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli.
Now, more information is emerging about the concert, with Variety reporting that Tom Cruise, Winnie the Pooh, Nicole Scherzinger and others will also be part of the festivities.

"I needed a Christmas miracle." Warner Bros has debuted an official trailer for 8-Bit Christmas, a new holiday comedy from filmmaker Michael Dowse. Described as a "new holiday classic", this nostalgic family comedy takes us to the early days of Nintendo, when one boy wanted nothing else than to get the brand new Nes entertainment system for Christmas. A humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, the story centers on ten-year-old Jake Doyle's herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas. Starring Winslow Fegley as a young Jake, and Neil Patrick Harris as an adult Jake, with June Diane Raphael, Steve Zahn, David Cross, Sophia Reid-Gantzert, Cyrus Arnold, Jacob Laval, and David MacInnis. Okay so this actually looks pretty dang good, riffing on A Christmas Story, but updating it for today's Millennials looking...

What we have here is an action-comedy about an Uber driver named Stu. Hence the title, Stuber. These are the jokes, folks. Also not funny — besides the title and the script — is the fact that Stuber traps two talented dudes — Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista — in a car that’s going nowhere so fast that Thelma and Louise would hop right on. Still, if you loved Nanjiani in Silicon Valley and The Big Sick, he’s going to get through the Stuber muck with his reputation intact. His comic delivery is foolproof.

Beginning in kitchen-sink territory on a Scottish estate, this teen bromance eventually escapes into amiable nostalgia and artful euphoria
In 1999, Britfilm upstart Human Traffic – born of the same creative big bang that begat both Trainspotting and Kevin and Perry Go Large – caught the tail end of rave culture. Two decades on, Beats offers a more considered return to the same scene, composed by cooler, wiser heads in artful silvery greys, with contextualising clips of Tony Blair outlining his vision for a new Britain … after which, it all plainly went a bit Pete Tong. Nostalgic flashbacks are guaranteed for a certain demographic, although there is a curious absence of the era’s biggest beats (were there licensing issues?) and some perversely cramped framing.
For a good while, writer Kieran Hurley (adapting his 2012 play) and director Brian Welsh seem determined to fashion kitchen-sink drama from one of the most outdoorsy of youth phenomena.

It was announced Wednesday that the “Luther” and “Wire” star will be making his Coachella debut on April 13 and 20, in the company of artists like Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Tame Impala, Solange and Billie Eilish. Paul Woolford’s “Hang Up Your Hang Ups” is a dance-floor jackhammer, a vocal house record as spare as it is adrenalized. The track’s immediacy isn’t necessarily unexpected; Woolford is a veteran U.K. producer with several well-known club singles. What is more surprising: Though Woolford mainly releases tracks through esteemed small labels like Planet E (run by revered Detroit techno producer Carl Craig) or Running Back (helmed by the impressively open-eared Frankfurt-based DJ Gerd Janson), “Hang Up Your Hang Ups” has been receiving play on decidedly mainstream outlets like BBC Radio 1.

After revealing the title and artwork for his upcoming eight studio album, deadmau5 is back this weekend to offer up the first single from W:/2016Album. The mau5trap label head debuted his latest offering, titled “4Ware,” with Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show, delivering a solid effort that will have you even more excited for the forthcoming LP.
Like much of his work, deadmau5 crafts a sprawling progressive house tune over the course of eight minutes. Persistent four on the floor rhythms drive on, layered beneath filter swept arpeggios and twinkling synth melodies. Structurally, “4Ware” is among the Canadian producer’s most minimalistic material, and he allows the core progression to repeat throughout the song’s duration as drips of delay and echo form a lush atmosphere.

Nightlife has notoriously been tricky for Hollywood to capture on film. Lean too hard into the chaos of it all, and you wind up with a nonsensical mess that barely hangs together as a coherent narrative. Steer too clear of the debauchery that it entails, and the resulting film is a toothless, flaccid imitation. More than most, Xoxo – the latest “Netflix original film” to hit the streaming service – tows that delicate line, delivering a fun (albeit lightweight) ensemble comedy/drama.
Like an Edm version of Love Actually, the film follows a disparate group of strangers as they make their way to Xoxo, the nation’s biggest festival devoted entirely to electronic dance music. Though a disclaimer at film’s end declares that its production is not affiliated with the real-life Portland-held event, it’s clear that this atmosphere was likely the inspiration for filmmaker Christopher Louie’s directorial debut.

“Alias Grace” follows the true story of poor Irish immigrant Grace Marks who, along with domestic servant James McDermott, was convicted of murdering her employer Thomas Kinnear and housekeeper Nancy Montgomery in 1843. While James was hanged, Grace received life imprisonment for her role in the crime. The conviction was highly controversial and Grace’s role in the murder was up for strong debate as to whether she took an active part in the crime or if she was simply an accessory. She was later exonerated after 30 years in jail.

Jeff Garlin may have his hands full with the ABC TV show “The Goldbergs” and a new movie he wrote and directed for Netflix called “Handsome,” currently in post-production, but he can’t wait to make time to act in the the next season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
“I get to hang out with Larry David and interact all day, I get a really big check, and people are very happy watching the show,” Garlin told reporters Monday on the red carpet at the Museum of the Moving Image’s industry tribute to Seth Myers and Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “I don’t need anything else.” (No contract for the new season has been signed yet.)

Over a month has passed since Dirtybird Records’ chief export Justin Martin released his sophomore album Hello Clouds, and dance music tastemakers are still singing its praises. It’s even resonated with the sophisticated tastes of those across the pond, as BBC Radio 1 enlisted the San Fransisco DJ/producer for an installment of their After Hours Mix series.
Justin Martin’s After Hours Mix originally aired on Pete Tong’s radio show on April 22nd. The track list features songs from the likes of Maribou State, Adana Twins and Billy Kenny, and closes out with the last two titles from Hello Clouds.
As with much of his mixes and productions, Justin Martin’s After Hours Mix combines the ghettotech grit of other Dirtybird releases with distinct, tasteful melody. Being that he’s no stranger to experimenting with electronic music styles outside of house and techno, he’s used to riding...

There’s no simple roadmap for how a conglomerate of SFX Entertainment’s size goes through chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring, and trivial details were bound to fall by the wayside. In the most recent court documents that have surfaced as a result of the company’s legal proceedings, partial lineup details for three of its festivals have made their rounds on social media.
To be specific, some of the headliners for Electric Zoo, Spring Awakening and Mamby On The Beach have been revealed to the public. Artists as big as deadmau5, Hardwell, Claude VonStroke and Tchami have found their way onto the entertainment rosters for the former two events, with the likes of Hannah Wants, Chromeo and Chet Faker on the last.

Watermät, Spinnin Deep’s illustrious house star, has just teased a preview of his new single “Empire.” Pete Tong played the snippet Friday night on BBC Radio 1 to massive acclaim, and the clip has already garnered nearly 100k plays on SoundCloud in only 3 days.
Continuing along with the French producer’s theme of voluptuous leads, “Empire” sports a wavering synth line underneath its vibrant, retro-styled melodies. Though this new track takes it in a slightly different direction, there’s a bit of nostalgia present from his massive single “Bullit,” with its enormous horn oscillations.
Overall, it’s another quality production from Watermät, and we can’t wait to hear the full track after its official release on March 7th via Spinnin’ Deep.
Have a listen to Watermät’s latest above, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

After months of speculation, the documentary Daft Punk Unchained, which centers around everyone’s favorite French house robots, has finally received an English language release date. The documentary was released on French TV earlier this year, but English speaking fans were left in the dark without a subtitled version or any mention of a Us release.
Daft Punk Unchained was directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre, and features rare footage, live performances, and exclusive interviews with collaborators including Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Giorgio Morodor, Pete Tong and the duo themselves.
Unfortunately, the documentary’s foreseeable releases simply includes a premiere on Showtime that will air December 10 at 9pm Est, so now would be the time to upgrade your basic cable package. Ahead of the documentary’s stateside television debut, Daft Punk has released a trailer that features plenty of robot action, performance shots, and celebrity appearances.

Last we heard, just over a year ago, the English-language remake of The Raid was still a going concern. Screen Gems were behind it, The Expendables 3's Patrick Hughes was directing, and Taylor Kitsch and Frank Grillo were in talks to star. This morning, however, it's less Iko Uwais and more Pete Tong, since both Hughes and Screen Gems have abandoned the project. Only production company Xyz Films remains attached. The Tracking Board's sources don't quite address exectly what's caused this collapse. They speculate that continual delays have forced the Aussie Hughes to move on to a more going concern, that of Sydney-To-Hobart Yacht Race disaster drama The Storm Warning - but quite what chilled the collective feet of Screen Gems remains to be seen.Brad Ingelsby (Out Of The Furnace, Run All Night) and Eric and John Hueber (Red) have all contributed to multiple drafts of the screenplay,...

The men behind the masks of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, not only created a mystique by never showing their faces, but put all the more attention on their work, which changed the landscape of electronic music. Now, as befits a duo that have made a huge impression on the pop culture landscape, a documentary is one the way. "Daft Punk Unchained" already aired this summer, only in France, but now its making its way to the rest of the world, and a new trailer provides an inside peek. Collaborators like Kanye West, Pharrell, Nile Rodgers, and Paul Williams share their insights, along with folks like Giorgio Moroder, Michel Gondry, Peter Lindbergh, Leiji Matsumoto, and Pete Tong, in what looks to be a fairly standard, but no less compelling chronicle from director Hervé Martin Delpierre. Daft Punk without their helmets is an odd sight - it's almost a surprise they aren't actually robots under there.
And it looks like the duo, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, will be taking off the headgear in a new documentary.
Daft Punk Unchained looks at the story of music's most secretive duo, and features many of their star collaborators.
Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Kanye West, Michel Gondry, Paul Williams, Peter Lindbergh, Leiji Matsumoto and Pete Tong will all contribute to the film.
It of course won't be the first time that the duo have been seen unmasked - they were recently spotted without their signature headgear in La.
The pair have said their costumes are not a gimmick, explaining they stem from their own desire for "sci-fi glam" and desire to create fictional personas.

You might not expect a Halloween rave in the Northwest to command a substantial draw. After all, Edm hasn’t taken hold there like it has in many other parts of the country, and the region’s weather doesn’t exactly lend itself to large-scale live music events that far into the cold season. Nonetheless, Freaknight has proven itself a worthy contender among festivals like Escape and Hard Day of the Dead in the past, and this year’s festivities look as though they’ll measure up to the standard set by previous editions.

Eden, a film about French disco, and Zac Efron’s We Are Your Friends are out to prove that the dancefloor experience can be recreated on the big screen. Why has it taken so long?
As the kids never used to say: it’s all gone a bit Pete Tong. Dance music culture is at least 30 years old, and yet there has barely been a piece of cinema that has meaningfully portrayed the last great revolutionary musical movement. Tong himself asked, in a recent Billboard editorial, why in the age of Edm – the catch-all term under which “electronic dance music” finally stormed the Us mainstream – the genre hadn’t had its big-screen coronation. “Where’s our Saturday Night Fever? Where’s our Empire? Where’s our Do the Right Thing or Hustle & Flow?”

So far 2015’s been all about house music, and it looks like Michael Calfan‘s following suit. The French DJ/producer has succeeded in redefining his sound over the past year, aligning towards a style that he describes as “soul house” or “melodic house” – and his latest track, “Mercy,” fits the bill to a T.
With elements of tropical house, deep house and a folksy, instrumental twang, “Mercy” proves a radio-friendly exploration of the genre that could end up putting Calfan back on the map for the remainder of the festival season. Wistful vocals and hard-hitting drum kicks complete the picture, making this track a memorable follow up to “Treasured Soul” infused with the radiance of a summer afternoon.
The track has already received support from Pete Tong, Kygo and Olver Heldens ahead of its official release through Spinnin’ Records on June 29th, so you can bet that it’s going to be big.

Another year, another hastily thrown-together list of influential figures in the Edm world.
It seems like every festival season, another music publication takes a stab at declaring some handful of industry figures to be the movement’s global tastemakers – InTheMix put together a decent one in 2013, but Rolling Stone demonstrated their complete lack of understanding of the dance music dynamic in 2014. We would expect a 2015 list compiled by Billboard to knock both out of the water since the publication has managed to keep its finger on the pulse of dance music, but they’ve managed to miss the mark as well.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not discrediting the role of DJ/producers in the youth culture explosion that is Edm – but when you’re talking about the individuals responsible for advancing the enterprise as a whole, maybe one or two artists fit the bill. As such, Diplo...

Released on Spinnin’ Deep this week was the latest from Dutch duo Lucas & Steve. Titled “Fearless,” the track sports “sweet basslines and old school breaks,” delivering a “mellow vibe of classic dance music.”

Some call it ‘future house’, for us it’s simply all house music. But to underline our love for the music on a whole, we looked for new grooves and sounds to incorporate. L.A.-based DJ/producer Steven Zhu – better known by his stage name, Zhu – has made his BBC Radio 1 debut, and it’s pretty much the future of groove. We were looking forward to it as much as anybody, and we feel confident in asserting that the end result was well worth the hype.
The mix opens with a soulful, electric guitar-driven ID in the same vein as Carlos Santana’s “Black Magic Woman,” which Zhu has used to open countless recent sets. It segues into a VIP of the artist’s own “Superfriends” before a string of pop and hip-hop remixes and edits including T-Pain’s “Bartender,” Michael Jackson’s Thriller and both “I Like The Way You Move” and “Ms. Jackson” by Outkast. The mix wraps up with another ID, this one more lyrically driven than the first, as well as some closing comments by BBC Radio 1 host Pete Tong.

It segues into a VIP of the artist’s own “Superfriends” before a string of pop and hip-hop remixes and edits including T-Pain’s “Bartender,” Michael Jackson’s Thriller and both “I Like The Way You Move” and “Ms. Jackson” by Outkast. We feel like we shouldn’t like Martin Solveig‘s new track, “+1,” but we’re not gonna lie, it’s actually pretty hot. It’s been apparent that the French producer has had future house in his crosshairs since his GTA collaboration, “Intoxicated,” in January – and while his new song is even more of an aberration from the standard deep house formula, that’s kind of what makes it worth talking about.
Driven more by poppy yet soulful lyrics than by its vogueishly stripped-down bass line, “+1″ also incorporates the high-energy percussive elements of Solveig’s progressive house roots into its unconventional stylistic hodgepodge. While that might sound to some like the makings of a musical disaster, it’s resulted in a track as radio friendly as it is club friendly; an accessible fusion that will guarantee it substantial radio play as the height of festival season approaches.
