It seems like it has been a hot minute since we have had a good hip-hop feud. As the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake takes the mainstream by storm, it is difficult to not remember feuds of days gone by, ones that defined the entire generation of hip hop that they occurred in.
Drake in One Dance
While the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar picks up steam, we take a look back at three iconic feuds in hip hop through its history, the sort that is still remembered for their stinging bars and witty writing, or even the story of what started them, and how the artists used their talents to flyte their opponents into obscurity (or tried to).

Plot: based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey and a local police officer, the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
Review: While crime exists worldwide, North America’s glut of true crime stories is centered on the United States. We often take for granted that our neighbors in the Great White North are more than America’s nice neighbors or denizens of the Fifty-First State. Canada is a massive country with its own good and bad, with crimes just as heinous as anything we see in America. While the events depicted in Under The Bridge are not as scary as serial killer tales, the story it retells is every bit as disturbing.

After the raids on Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ homes in Miami and Los Angeles last week, his longtime nemesis, rapper 50 Cent, said he would produce a documentary about his nemesis.
The rivalry is connected to Combs dating 50 Cent’s ex, Daphne Joy. Joy is the mother of 50 Cent’s 11-year-old son, Sire Jackson.
A new $30 million sexual assault lawsuit against Combs brought by record producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones claimed that Joy was Combs “sex worker,” adding a further wrinkle to the drama.
The 73-page lawsuit is only one of three recently filed against Combs.
The suit also stated that Jones was subject to a year of groping without his consent and “constant unsolicited touching” of his private areas.
Combs and Jackson have a long-lasting rivalry that dates back over 20 years.

While living with Sean “Diddy” Combs, R&b pop star Usher said that he “went there to see the lifestyle — and I saw it.”
After raids on Combs’ homes earlier this month, an interview from 2016 with Usher and Howard Stern on The Howard Stern Show has resurfaced.
In the interview, Usher speaks on the year that he spent living with Combs. He was 13 years old at the time.
Combs was the founder of Bad Boys Records and there have been claims of “very curious things” had happened at his L.A. and Miami residences over the years.
On March 25, law enforcement including Homeland Security and federal agents raided his homes after two lawsuits against him made sex-trafficking allegations.
In 2016, Usher commented on his time with Diddy saying it was “pretty crazy” and that he didn’t, “know if I could indulge and understand what I was even looking at. It was pretty wild.

Usher has been very open about Diddy’s contributions to his success. At the age of 15, when he was barely a teenager, Usher was sent to live with Diddy after proving himself as a potential artist. The program Usher was invited to was known as Puffy Flavor camp, and was designed to further hone an artist’s potential as a star. Usher was the youngest out of everyone there, and experienced Diddy’s glamorous lifestyle firsthand.

Las Vegas police have arrested a man in the deadly 1996 drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur, a long-awaited break in a case that has frustrated investigators and fascinated the public ever since the hip-hop icon was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip 27 years ago.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested early Friday morning, although the exact charge or charges were not immediately clear, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.
Davis has long been known to investigators and has himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 tell-all memoir, Compton Street Legend, that he was in the Cadillac where the gunfire erupted during the September 1996 drive-by shooting. Shakur was 25 when he was gunned down.
The arrest comes more than two months after Las Vegas police raided his wife’s home July 17 in neighbouring Henderson.

“For Khadija” is billed as a documentary about French Montana, but there’s a reason that it’s named not after the hip-hop alter ego of Moroccan expatriate Karim Kharbouch, but his mother. “I felt like my mother’s story, the beginning to the end, the closure of her going back to Morocco, is when I was like, okay, now the story has a meaning,” French tells Variety. “This goes out to all the mothers that struggle, that have kids, that was forced to sacrifice.”

Pap Chanel is ready to shock the world with her latest EP, "Paptivities." After a nearly two-year gap between 2021's "Pretty & Paid 2.0" and her new six-track project, released May 12, the rising rapper tells Popsugar why she took her time crafting "Paptivities" - and why the EP sounds vastly different from her previous releases. "On this project right here, every song sounds completely different," Chanel explains. "I have one song where I'm telling my fans all my business. I'm super excited for that one because people don't really get to hear transparency from artists. This is a record where I got really vulnerable and talked about the good, bad, and the ugly."
The record in question is the EP's opener, "Pap Stories," an introspective track where Chanel raps about everything from wearing "war wounds" to brushing off haters who doubted her. As promised, every other song on "Paptivities" adopts a different...

Sean “Diddy” Combs first entered the music world in the late 1980s as an intern for Uptown Records, eventually launching his own label, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. In the late ’90s, after the death of his friend The Notorious B.I.G., Diddy became a rapper himself, quickly earning a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. And although Diddy’s catalog of hits dates back over two decades, the music mogul has no plans to sell his music for a big payday.

The latest artificial intelligence tool to sweep social media is “Historical Figures Chat,” a novelty that currently sits at the #34 spot in the “Education” section of Apple‘s app store. “With this app, you can chat with deceased individuals who have made a significant impact on history from ancient rulers and philosophers, to modern day politicians and artists,” the description claims. Eminem’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction is a complicated honor given the institution’s history of overlooking hip-hop’s most influential and pioneering Black artists, but Saturday night’s induction ceremony was a celebration of his contributions to the genre nonetheless.
The rapper himself acknowledged that fact in his induction speech, quipping that there were probably a few reasons why he wasn’t supposed to be there Saturday night. “I know that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and there...

Since the Eighties, three key forces have defined trends in jewelry: drug dealers, rappers, and Jacob the Jeweler. “When hip-hop brought jewelry into the game, the fat dookie ropes and the chains and medallions, it was mimicking how the drug dealers were dressing in Brooklyn or Harlem,” notes Aap Ferg in journalist Vikki Tobak’s latest book, Ice Cold: A Hip-Hop Jewelry History. As hip-hop artists emulated the expensive looks of street-level kingpins, designer Jacob Arabo — dubbed Jacob the Jeweler by Biggie Smalls himself — was there to customize their pieces with innovative prowess.

Cory Wharton fought in a celebrity boxing match against fellow reality TV star Chase DeMoor. Pic credit: The Wharton Family/YouTube
On Saturday night, Cory Wharton participated in the Social Gloves 2 celebrity boxing event at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
Cory, a multi-time finalist on MTV’s The Challenge, battled fellow reality TV star Chase DeMoor from Too Hot to Handle in a five-round exhibition match.
There had been quite a buildup from the first announcement they’d fight up until they met in the ring, with several altercations during press events over the past few months.
That included this past week’s scuffle at a pre-fight press conference, with a few punches thrown between the reality TV stars as tempers flared a bit.
Saturday gave them a chance to settle things in the ring, although some fans, and possibly the competitors, may not have been fully satisfied with the outcome.

On Wednesday’s “The Daily Show,” Trevor Noah looked at the uproar after Gina Rodriguez used the n-word in an Instagram video — and came up with a couple of amusing solutions to the problem of people who aren’t black doing so.
On Tuesday, Rodriguez uploaded the video, in which she sang along (uncensored) to a song by the Fugees. She later apologized, saying in part, “I am sorry if I offended anyone by singing along to the Fugees to a song I love. I grew up on Lauryn Hill, and um, I really am sorry if I offended you.”
“Here’s Trevor’s tip of the day,” Noah said after recapping the incident. “If you insist on saying the n-word when you’re rapping along with a song, don’t do it on Instagram. Do it on ‘The Masked Singer.’ ‘Cause then, people will have to wait three weeks...

There’s nothing quite like “Live Pd,” the hit A&E series that follows cops and sheriffs — live, in real time, as they patrol various cities and counties across the country. The series began as an eight-episode experiment, for two hours a week, back in October 2016. But as it turned into a sensation, A&E kept expanding the show’s footprint.
