The Les Arcs Coproduction Village (Dec 12-15), held as part of the Les Arcs European Film Festival (Dec 12-19), has unveiled the projects for its 7th edition.
A total of 25 projects have been selected for the three-day development and financing platform, which has previously showcased festival hits including Lazlo Nemes’ Son Of Saul, Alice Rohrwacher’s The Wonders, Grimur Hakonarson’s Rams and Runar Runarsson’s Sparrows.
This year’s line-up includes projects from 13 countries and five from Norway, selected as part of this year’s Norwegian Focus. Eight debut features are included in the selection.
Representatives of the projects will have one-to-one pre-scheduled meetings with producers, sales agents and distributors.
Two conferences will also be held during the Coproduction Village: one about the production of Joachim Trier’s Cannes competition...

A raft of Czech production companies are here in Cannes with a range of projects including an drama set in Afghanistan.
Prague-based Sirena Films is planning to shoot high-end, Afghan-set TV series Nobel from Norwegian director Per-Olav Sørensen (The Heavy Water War) in August. This is a coproduction with Norway’s Monster Scripted.
Sirena is also partnering with Zentropa on Kristian Levring’s Devil’s Lake, sold by Zentropa, and is in negotiations with HBO to make detective TV series Nearest And Dearest, about missing person cases.
Negativ has a new feature from festival favourite Bohdan Slama, winner of San Sebastian’s Golden Shell for Something Like Happiness. Slama’s latest project is titled Icy Mother.

Karlovy Vary’s industry days continue today with the Pitch & Feedback initiative, now in its second year. Czech and Slovak filmmakers presented projects in development which have international co-production potential.
The jury of experts featured Matthieu Darras from the Torino Film Lab, producer Mike Downey of the UK’s F&Me, Loic Magneron of Wide Management, Riina Sildos from the Baltic Event and Brigitta Manthey of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

The Red Captain (Cerveny Kapitan) (Slovakia)

A slow burning thriller adapted from the bestelling detective novel novel by Dominik Dan. The film is set in the early 1990s when a homicide detective investigates the former secret service and the religious elite. The first Slovak feature supported by Media single project support.

The Eighty Letters filmmaker returns with this drama about a father and son’s relationship...
