He and his wife were theater actors in San Francisco and on the Orpheum
Circuit in the early 1900s. Landers was the actor/manager of Ye Liberty
Playhouse in Oakland, California, where he played Shakespeare and
Dickens (Sidney Carton in "A Tale of Two Cities" as well as popular
plays of the day.) Around 1918 they moved to Glendale, California to
take up careers in motion pictures.
