In 2006, comedy double act Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball gave an interview to The Independent reminiscing about their stage and TV career. In their 1980s heyday, the pair had a serious falling-out, something “every double act goes through,” said Ball, “it’s like a marriage”. Freddie Starr took off his mic and walked out of an interview with Good Morning Britain today, during his first TV chat since sex abuse allegations against him were dropped.
Starr later returned to complete the interview and explained that the subject was still "so raw".
The comedian, 71, was cross when interviewer Susanna Reid asked: "You've been in showbiz 50 years - do you think over that time you have done anything that could have been misinterpreted, in terms of your relationships?"
"Are you being serious?" replied Starr, before asking Reid to leave his house and walking out of the room.
Explaining his walk-out later on, he told Reid: "It's hard to have an interview like this with it being so raw - I've only been released three days ago. I'm just catching up on my sleep."

The entertainer was arrested earlier this month in the ongoing Jimmy Savile investigation following claims dating back to the 1970s that he groped an under-age girl in Savile's dressing room. Basil Dearden, recently celebrated with an Eclipse box set of his London crime dramas, was almost unique in the early part of his career (the forties and fifties) for trying to look at working-class life in Britain and examine the issues affecting it. Unlike the later "kitchen sink" realist films of the sixties, mainly adapted from plays and novels, Dearden tended to work from original screenplays, and he tended to use genre to sweeten the pill of social commentary.
Violent Playground (1958) is one of his best, and it shows both the strengths and weaknesses of Dearden's approach in great detail. One of the director's quirks, picked up at Ealing, was a fondness for films which interwove multiple storylines (Train of Events, Pool of London), rather like John Sayles, allowing a panoply of a particular time and place to emerge, but sadly limiting the development of each storyline. Fortunately, in Violent Playground,...

Sacha Baron Cohen's film joins Team America and The Producers in depicting despots as one-dimensional buffoons. But why are we obsessed with satirising tyrants – and is it right to find them funny?

'Celebrity Wife Swap' is coming! And guess what? It'll (probably) be amazing.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has ordered six episodes of the new reality series, which will feature celebrities trading their luxurious lifestyles for a week. No air date is set.
ABC adapted 'Wife Swap' from the U.K. version, which featured celebrity episodes where Freddie Starr and his wife Donna swapped lives with Samantha Fox and her partner Myra Strattan.
Here's the thing about 'Wife Swap': It's incredibly addicting. The show takes people, throws them into a completely absurd situation -- usually rich people switching with a family struggling through some rough economic times or a super religious family switching with Wiccans -- and lets the cameras roll. It's a classic formula that has made for hundreds of hours of entertainment.

Louis Walsh has admitted that he is hoping for more funny acts on this year’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The ‘X Factor’ mentor – who is joining the panel as a guest judge for the audition stages of the ITV1 show next week – admitted he is fed up of seeing the same acts enter the talent competition, and wants an “unpredictable” comedian to spice up the series.
He said: “I was thrilled to be asked back as a judge. I did it for the last series and had such a laugh. But I want to see something new. I don’t want to see another Diversity or Spellbound. We need more comedy, someone like Freddie Starr, who is funny but unpredictable.
“He was found through a talent contest and played the Royal Variety Show. He always caused chaos on stage and that’s what we need. Everything gets so safe.

We wring out the latest Bond writer and director details and help squash rumours on 007's next assignment...
The Telegraph and others confirm that Sam Mendes will direct the next James Bond movie, as well as claiming he's keen to switch writers but, contrary to what The Sun may want you believe, Billy Elliot will probably not become a Double-o.
The whole smorgasbord of shenanigans surrounding Bond 23 - intricately tied up, as it is, with MGM's not inconsiderable financial problems - appear close to being polished off.
Over the weekend, various sources and stories aligned to confirm, spread and scotch some of the morsels that have been mooted about 007's next inevitably tortuous assignment.
Though Mendes' involvement in Daniel Craig's next turn as everyone's favourite brutal, smooth, somewhat misogynistic super-Brit was first leaked by The Telegraph's Mandrake as far back as January, the whole project has oft-looked like...

Popular British comic Freddie Starr is preparing for surgery after suffering a major heart attack earlier this week (begs05Apr10).
The 67 year old was hospitalised on Tuesday after falling ill while preparing for his U.K. stand-up tour.
Doctors attempted to fit tubes in his arteries to increase the flow of blood, but when the procedure failed, they advised the funnyman he will have to undergo a triple heart bypass operation.
Starr tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "I'm due a triple heart bypass next week. It was down to stress I think."
His spokesperson adds, "He's certainly not very well and he'll need at least six months to recover."
The comedian has cancelled a string of upcoming gigs in Britain due to his condition.
Starr has been a regular on the stand-up circuit since the 1980s, after shooting to fame on U.K. TV talent contest Opportunity Knocks.

Donna Air has admitted that she would love to replace Cheryl Cole on the X Facto.
Speaking to The Daily Star the TV presenter admitted:
“I don’t know if they can cope with two Geordie judges up there on the panel but I fancy my chances.
“Cheryl is doing an amazing job, but probably one Geordie judge is enough.”
She continued: “You know what? If Cheryl ever needs a holiday, I would happily step in. That would be amazing. I’d love to.”
