Although there has been a plethora of onscreen adaptations of the Batman mythos, to many, the 1992 series still remains the definitive version of the character and his rouges’ gallery. While most of it had to do with Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s brilliance, one cannot undermine the contribution of the amazing voice cast, which involved the likes of Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Arleen Sorkin, etc.
For that, we have Andrea Romano to thank, who served as casting and voice director on the acclaimed show. However, getting the tone of the show right took Romano a while, as this was unlike anything she had been part of before.

Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates tease as Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) memorial will air in December, will Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) wake up from his coma in time to attend? And will Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) come with him?
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Filming Underway
Since Bill Hayes passed away a couple of months ago, filming is now underway for a series of episodes dedicated to him and Doug Williams, which will air in December.
Fans can’t imagine a memorial to Doug without his daughter Hope not in attendance-but she’s been by Bo’s side for many months as he’s been in a coma.
Although some Days vets have confirmed and are already filming, others have expressed interest but nothing has been released save for a couple of actors.

“Joker: Folie à Deux” drops its first trailer, with Joaquin Phoenix reprising his award-winning supervillain role. Lady Gaga will be playing Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. Given Gaga’s New York roots, I expected her to have a Brooklyn accent, but she didn’t. Don’t expect her to sound like Arleen Sorkin, Tara Strong, or Margot Robbie’s version. Perhaps the accent isn’t present yet because she hasn’t fully transitioned into Harley; she’s still the psychiatric doctor. Zazie Beetz who is Joker’s love interest Sophie Dumond in the first film will also return. Are we going to have a love triangle? The first film finally gave Joaquin Phoenix his flowers because it won him Best Actor at the Oscars and other Award Winning bodies. It is hard to top the first movie so they decided to try something new with this sequel. It is going to be a musical.

Todd Phillips’s hotly anticipated supervillain sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux” has secured itself an R rating from the MPA, as per Deadline. This is not too much of a surprise, as the 2019 smash “Joker” remains the top-grossing R-rated picture in history. Somewhat surprising, however, was the reason given by the “we’re not a censorship organization” censorship organization.
In addition to “strong violence”, “language” (sure), and “some sexuality” (okay), the group cited “brief full nudity.” Full, eh? Just how much of a clown show will we be seeing here?
“Joker: Folie à Deux”’s big draw for most audiences will be Lady Gaga’s turn as Harlene Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn) the Bugs Bunny-like psychiatrist who falls in love with the Clown Prince of Crime. Margot Robbie played the fan-favorite character in the “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey” films, while Kaley Cuoco voices her in the not-for-kids animated series.

The character of Harley Quinn — a harlequin-clad moll for the Joker — first appeared on "Batman: The Animated Series" in the 1992 episode "Joker's Favor." She was played by voice actress Arleen Sorkin, who gave the character a Brooklyn-adjacent "bubblehead" voice that immediately struck viewers and quickly earned the character fans. Harley Quinn was very similar in look and presentation to a character named Prank (Zoey Clark), the kooky moll of the Trickster on the 1990 series "The Flash." Her origin story was simple: Dr. Harleen Quinzel served as the Joker's psychiatrist, and he had such a powerful personality, that she abandoned ordinary life to become his supervillainess girlfriend.
Harley would appear in only nine episodes of "Batman: Tas," but she eventually began appearing in DC Comics. In recent years, Harley has become arguably a more popular character than the Joker and has formed a life of her own, breaking up with the...

Harley Quinn, originally Harleen Quinzel, is a beloved and iconic character in the DC Universe known for her unpredictable and chaotic nature. First introduced as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, Harley Quinn fell madly in love with the Joker, the infamous villain from Gotham City. Over time, she transformed into a criminal mastermind in her own right, adopting the persona of Harley Quinn and donning her signature red and black jester outfit. Over the years, a plethora of talented actresses have portrayed this iconic character, starting with Arleen Sorkin in the first season of 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series. Since...

In the eyes of many, Margot Robbie is the defacto actress to play Harley Quinn on the silver screen. However, titans of talent, the likes of Arleen Sorkin, Tara Strong, Kaley Cuoco, Mia Sara, Melissa Rauch, Kang-Ji-young, Gillian Jacobs, and more, have all helped make Dr. Harleen Quinzel a beloved and lasting part of pop culture. While some would prefer Robbie to continue playing Harleen Quinn until the end of time, the Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey actress says she loves the idea of different actresses portraying the former Arkham Asylum psychologist-turned-criminal mastermind.
Speaking with Variety about the character’s future, including Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harleen for Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux, Robbie says it’s a dream come true to see the character move beyond her contribution.

Harley Quinn isn't done having fun yet: the animated Max supervillain series has just been renewed for season 5. The show's fourth season concluded in September with an episode dedicated to original Harley voice actor Arleen Sorkin, in addition to the formation of the Gotham City Sirens within the DC series' universe. Now, a fifth season has been formally announced via press release.
Max's Executive VP of Original Comedy and Adult Animation Suzanna Makos shared a statement about the renewal, saying, "The talented 'Harley Quinn' team has once again succeeded in delivering a season that builds on everything that has come before while still feeling fresh and inventive." Makos also seemed to hint that season 5 might already be in the production process, as she concluded, "We couldn't be more excited for the fans to see what they've accomplished in season 5."

Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd is sharing loving memories of his life wife, Days of Our Lives alum Arleen Sorkin, following her death last month. The couple met when they were both hired as staff writers on a sitcom, Lloyd reveals in an essay for Variety. “My name is Arleen, and I’m an empath,” she told him at lunch on the first day. “I hear a clicking in your jaw that may be Tmj. Here is the number of a dentist who can help.” In his remembrance, Lloyd recounts Sorkin’s many achievements from her life before and during their relationship: She went from high-school dancer to shoe model to cabaret member to Days star. She held the center spot on Hollywood Squares. She produced an off-Broadway play, co-created the sitcom Fired Up, and co-wrote the Jennifer Aniston film Picture Perfect. And, of course, she was the original voice of Harley Quinn.

Arleen Sorkin, the original voice and inspiration behind Batman villain Harley Quinn, has died at the age of 67, TheWrap has learned. The news broke on social media Saturday, with numerous fans and colleagues sharing their memories of the actress and the character she helped bring to the screen.
Unlike most characters in the world of Batman, Harley Quinn did not make her debut in the DC comic books, but rather in the acclaimed ’90s animated show “Batman: The Animated Series.” Sorkin first played Quinn on the show’s seventh episode “Joker’s Favor,” with the character initially set to only appear in a single episode. But she became a recurring part of the main cast after a rough cut of the episode was met well by the producers.

One reason that "Batman: The Animated Series" was and remains so beloved was how it embraced case-of-the-week storytelling. This was perfect for showcasing all the different corners and characters that make up the wild world of Gotham City. Such a large cast of characters meant that the series brought in a lot of actors; voice director Andrea Romano sought actors of all stripes for parts big and small. On the Popcorn & Shield podcast, the late Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) described the casting process as thus:
"They were really looking for actors, rather than just voice people. They cast a really wide net. So there were TV people, film people, stage people. Every week going in it was like going to summer camp, the people I got to work with."
Series co-creator Bruce Timm, also being interviewed, agreed with Conroy's sentiment. "Every week there was always some special, you know,...

On November 10, 2022, the great Kevin Conroy passed away. According to a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, the cause of death was intestinal cancer. Since most fans didn’t know Conroy even was battling cancer prior to his death, this news understandably came as a shock.
At the time of his passing, Conroy’s most recent voice acting credit for his most famous character, Batman, was for the Super Smash Bros.-like fighting game, MultiVersus. However, ever since Batman Arkham developers Rocksteady Studios announced Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, fans wondered if Conroy would reprise his “Arkhamverse” version of Batman for the game. Given the timeframe, if he was in the game, it would seemingly serve as his final Batman portrayal.

For the many people who were too young to have seen Michael Keaton's performance in Tim Burton's "Batman" films and just a hair too old to be introduced to the character via Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, "Batman: The Animated Series" was our entry into the dark world of Gotham and its tortured caped crusader. Conroy's version of Batman was a steadfast presence with a warmth that's absent in every other iteration. After all, Bruce has to love Gotham in order to be willing to give his life to save it.
While Adam West's comical 1960's Batman was the first version of the character I ever saw and Val Kilmer is my favorite live-action adaptation, Conroy's animated Batman was...

"Batman: The Animated Series" isn't just one of the greatest animated television shows of all time, but one of the most perfect comic book adaptations in history. While the saga of the Dark Knight has been told many times on the page and screen, "Batman: The Animated Series" explored the depths of Bruce Wayne's psyche. Many Bat-fans would argue that there isn't another actor who has captured the essence of the character quite like Kevin Conroy.
One of the best elements of "Batman: The Animated Series" was the show's emphasis on Gotham City's rogue's gallery. Mark Hamill brought chaotic energy to the Joker, which made Batman's arch-nemesis both hilarious and terrifying. Other villains like The Penguin (Paul Williams), The Riddler (John Glover), Two-Face (Richard Moll), Catwoman (Adrienne Barbeau), Poison Ivy (Diane Pershing), and Scarecrow (Henry Polic II) received terrific spotlight episodes and storylines. Harley Quinn, the multi-faceted supervillain sidekick-turned-hero, just turned 30. And like any self-respecting 30-year-old, she should probably take inventory of her growth over the years, because she has a lot to be proud of. The character was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for "Batman: The Animated Series," and debuted on September 11, 1992, but she's come a long way from being Joker's horny, homicidal sidekick and romantic interest. In the past decade or so, she's become a fascinating feminist figure, a bisexual powerhouse who's a surprising face of representation for survivors of abusive relationships. It's been a bumpy road full of weird missteps and unfortunate costume choices, but even if Harley Quinn hasn't become a full-fledged hero in the canon, she's become one of my heroes.
As an abuse survivor and former manic pixie dream girl myself, Harley Quinn used to frustrate me, but her growth has made her into one of my favorite fictional characters.

After three films as famed Batman nemesis Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie says she’s excited to see Lady Gaga give her take on the role when she takes over in “Joker: Folie a Deux.”
During an interview for her new movie “Amsterdam” with MTV News, Robbie was asked for her thoughts on her fellow Oscar-nominated actress taking over a role she helped launch to new heights in a pair of “Suicide Squad” films and the spinoff “Birds of Prey.” Not only did Robbie give Gaga her blessing, but she also said that she wants Harley to have a long list of famous actors to play her the same way Batman and Joker do.
“It makes me so happy,” Robbie said, “because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way … like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed...

While Margot Robbie and her costars in David Ayers' 2016 "Suicide Squad" film got off to a rough start with their DC Comics characters, Robbie has since come into her own more as the Joker's ex-girlfriend, Harley Quinn, in Cathy Yan's "Birds of Prey" and James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad." So how does Robbie feel about another actress — and not just any actress, but the Oscar-nominated Lady Gaga — moving in on her territory as Harley?
It seems she's fully supportive of Gaga and doesn't feel threatened by her casting in "Joker: Folie a Deux," the upcoming musical "Joker" sequel with the title that is sure to inspire some pronunciation contretemps.
While on the promotional trail for her new film "Amsterdam," which also stars onetime Batman actor Christian Bale, Robbie inevitably ended up fielding a question about an unrelated comic book movie. Robbie took the question in good stride, explaining...

All comic characters evolve with the times, but few have grown from such humble beginnings to become an icon in quite the same way as Harley Quinn. Initially created for "Batman: The Animated Series" simply to add a female henchperson to Joker's minions, Harley has since not only grown increasingly popular, but has also become quite a symbol of hope. She's empowered both the LGBTQ+ community and survivors of domestic violence, as well as countless others who could relate to her resilience, humor, heart, and frankly, how bonkers she can be. Harley has also taken an exciting journey from villain to antihero that is so often reserved for male characters. Her toxic relationship with Joker may have been what once defined her, but when people discuss the character in 2022, Mr. J is barely a footnote. In fact, Harley Quinn has become one of the most compelling of DC's comic characters all on her own.

2016's "Suicide Squad" may have been a massive failure (at least in terms of reaction; it made money at the box office), but it did introduce the world to Margot Robbie's brilliant interpretation of Harley Quinn. The fan-favorite character debuted in "Batman: The Animated Series" in 1992. Created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm (and voiced by the amazing Arlene Sorkin), she has since become a fixture of DC Comics. Not only has Harley headlined her own fantastic comic series several times over, but she has also appeared twice more in live-action in "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)"...

As revealed during The Suicide Squad FanDome panel, writer-director James Gunn has a lot of new, never-before seen toys to play with in his next superhero movie. At the panel alone, he revealed Idris Elba is portraying Bloodsport and Peter Capaldi is The Thinker, to name but a few. Yet, even so, his favorite character to write is Harley Quinn, as played by Margot Robbie, bar none.
The breakout fan favorite character in 2016’s Suicide Squad, Robbie’s interpretation of the one-time Joker henchwoman turned antihero extraordinaire was so winning that Harley got her spinoff in this year’s Birds of Prey movie. And like just about everyone else who’s gotten the chance to write or portray the character, who was originally created for Batman: The Animated Series by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, and voiced by Arleen Sorkin, Gunn couldn’t resist the anarchic glee Quinn brings to the written page or screen.

By: Dan Moore When DC fans remember David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, they probably first think of Margot Robbie’s incredible portrayal of Harley Quinn. This wasn’t the first time we have been introduced to this character, Harley Quinn originally appeared in the 1992 show, Batman: The Animated Series, and was voiced by Arleen Sorkin. Since Suicide Squad, the character has reached a new level of popularity, spawning Halloween costumes and a whole new sense of punk style for young girls among many things. Ahead of the follow-up, spin-off titled Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, due out in February, DC Universe has just released an animated series solely dedicated to the frequent accomplice and lover of Joker, titled Harley Quinn. One of the many standout elements of the new streaming series is the score by composer Jefferson Friedman, which he has described as “power...

Some pretty iconic comic book characters originated far away from the comic book page. Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and his editor Perry White both first appeared in the Adventures of Superman radio show. Wolverine’s clone/adopted daughter X-23 debuted as part of the X-Men: Evolution cartoon series. Phil Coulson became such a ubiquitous part of the early Marvel films (and then the lead on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) that he’s now similarly ingrained in the Marvel comic book universe.

Harley Quinn's first episode is nonstop fun that hints at the deeper, more complex character exploration fans have been longing for.
How do we talk about the first episode of DC Universe's brilliant Harley Quinn without getting too far into spoiler territory? Well, it stars the titular Batman villain who has since transcended that label to become one of the most popular (anti) heroes in the world of DC.
This new animated take is voiced by Kaley Cuoco who does an absolutely splendid job as the wonderfully foul mouthed jester, and it's a monumental moment as it's the first time that Harley has led her own TV show. Now the big question, of course, is should you watch her debut series? The answer now that we've had the chance to watch the first episode of the new series is absof$&%inglutely.

All thirteen episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
Before I even get close to critiquing the inaugural season of DC Universe’s new Harley Quinn animated series, I must say it was quite beneficial to view every episode in advance of the premiere. Obviously, this can’t happen all too often because it’s very seldom that entire seasons of television are complete this early in the game, but you can imagine how it allows folks such as myself the chance to better get an idea of what’s on tap. I think five episodes of a given series were the most I’d been allotted in the past, so this was quite the treat.
To be entirely honest, had I screened even, say, three episodes before writing this review, I’d be singing a much different tune. I hate to say it, but I absolutely loathed the first three installments viewed.

When you think about it, Margot Robbie has become just as synonymous with the character of Harley Quinn as Arleen Sorkin in very short order. While the latter set the standard for the Clown Princess of Crime’s voice on Batman: The Animated Series back in the day, Robbie’s look in the live action Suicide Squad flick remains one of the most frequently seen cosplays at conventions and Halloween parties. Needless to say, the mark has been made.

The second wave of Batmania was ignited in 1989 when Tim Burton finally got a big screen adaptation of the comic book hero into theaters. It was such a wild success in terms of merchandising that Warner Bros wanted more and quickly. Since features take two to three years, they needed something sooner and the success of their Tiny Tunes and Animaniacs encouraged them to bring the Dark Knight back to television.
Thankfully, the project was placed in the hands of Alan Burnett, Bruce Timm, and Paul Dini who were not only fans of the character but the earliest cartoon fare. Taking a visual cue from Burton and a stylistic one from the Fleischer Brothers Studio, they produced a Batman cartoon unlike anything from the 1960s or 1970s. Batman the Animated Series was sampled on prime time in September 1992 before launching on Fox Kids and for three seasons, there was nothing quite like it.

While New York Comic-Con hasn't even started yet, DC Universe, the only online streaming service devoted to the world of superheroes, has already made an entrance with a special preview event. Besides screening the premiere of the live action Titans series, there was also an announcement that Kaley Cuoco, currently shooting the final season of The Big Bang Theory, will be voicing the character of the deranged Harley Quinn in a new animated series — plus a trailer in which Kaley, in character, delivers the news. The character of Harley Quinn (notably played by Margot Robbie in the live action Suicide Squad film) was first introduced back in the 1990s as part of Batman: The Animated Series by writer Paul Dini and artist Bruce Timm. Over the years she's been a sidekick and occasional love interest to the Joker, and while she's absolutely bonkers, he wins (maybe not by much) in the homicidal maniac department.

Milestone Media’s best-known character, Static, is back in the third volume of his animated adventures after the release of the first two seasons last year. Static Shock was somewhat revolutionary back in the day, featuring an African-American teen super-hero who juggled classes, girls, villains, and parents, not all that dissimilar to a certain wall-crawler. The comic was long gone, but he left a mark.
Virgil Hawkins (Phil Lamarr) arrived for the Static Shock the Complete Third Season sporting a brand new costume and during the season, his Bff Richie (Jason Marsden) gained powers, taking on the name Gear. Throughout the thirteen episodes comprising the series, which aired in the Kids’ WB, he left the confines of Dakota and journeyed to Africa and even partnered with Superman after fighting alongside the Justice League.

Warner Animation’s just-released Batman and Harley Quinn is an interesting project from the standpoint of it being a more mature sequel to the Batman: The Animated Series while still fitting into the now cohesive DC Animated Universe. It has the look and feel of the classic series while the content and themes are vastly different in keeping with Harley’s prominence in all-things DC these days along with upping the stakes in a longer production.
That said, the production is very entertaining and a welcome 30th film in the line of animated projects (the DC Universe: 10th Anniversary Collection is expected in November).
It’s a lot of fun to have Bruce Timm, Harley’s co-creator back in action as a co-scriptwriter. Sam Liu is also back to direct so we have a lot of veteran talent to bring tremendous affection to the project and it shows in every detail.

Well, the highly anticipated Batman and Harley Quinn animated film has finally arrived and, while I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s already stirring up controversy, I am. It seems like nobody can create any sort of art these days without enduring some sort of backlash, but that’s just the world we live in. Before diving into my review, I’ll preface by saying this movie is in no way for kids, but if you’re a prude, you may also want to sit this one out.

Stars: Melissa Rauch, Kevin Conroy, Loren Lester, Paget Brewster, Kevin Michael Richardson | Written by Bruce Timm, Jim Krieg | Directed by Sam Liu
Aka Dr Harleen Quinzel, Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Originally voice by Days of Our Lives’ Arleen Sorkin, she was created by series writers Bruce Timm and Paul Dini as an object of amusement for the Joker. A squeaking sufferer of “Histrionic Personality Disorder”, she has gone from kooky sidekick to become the star of the New 52’s most original – and most insane – new series.
It’s immediately apparent that Batman and Harley Quinn, the new standalone feature from Warner Bros. Animation, written by Timm and directed by DC veteran Sam Liu, is firmly rooted in the classic TV show. Everything is here, from the minimalist Art Deco styling, to the perennial orange sunset, to that definitive half-Elfman score.
