Update: The livestream has concluded, see below for a full summary.
Bungie’s gameplay reveal livestream for Destiny 2 has just begun, giving Guardians their first look at the adventures that await them this September.
Kicking things off with a gorgeous cinematic (above) featuring Commander Zavala, Bungie’s long-awaited event showcases the new locations that players will be visiting, following the destruction of the Tower at the hands of the Cabal, the aftermath of which we first caught a glimpse of via last month’s announcement trailer.
But of course, gameplay is at the forefront of everyone’s minds today, and Bungie certainly hasn’t failed to deliver. The mission shown off, dubbed ‘Homecoming’ by Destiny 2 director Luke Smith, is a real-time playthrough of the Tower’s fall as it’s besieged by a gigantic Cabal fleet. Mankind may be on the brink of losing everything, but Guardians, it seems, won...

The parents of David Grunwald, the Alaska teenager allegedly kidnapped and killed by friends after smoking the “weed” belonging to one, came face to face with his alleged killers in court earlier this week.
On Tuesday, four of the five suspects — Devin Peterson, 18, Austin Barrett, 19, and two 16-year-old minors — all pleaded not guilty to playing a role in David’s death, Superior Court officials tell People. (It is unclear if the two minor suspects will be charged as adults.)
During the arraignment, one of the minor teens appeared to address parents Edie and Ben Grunwald, who attended the hearing, eyewitnesses told the Alaska Dispatch News.

Fresh off the back of yesterday’s patch 2.01 update for Destiny which added microtransactions, players have found new files suggesting more are on the way in the form of subclass and rare drop boosting items.
Along with the returning Iron Banner event that pits players against each other in the Crucible to do battle without level-restrictions on their gear, Bungie also welcomed back Tess Everis to the Tower and the opening of her new store: The Eververse Trading Company.
The new store enables players to use a new currency (silver – which can be bought with real money) to purchase exclusive emotes to customize their characters with.
However, since yesterday’s update, players have found new items in the game’s database that can boost drop rates of rare items and fully boost any characters subclass to its maximum level. However, Destiny’s creative director, Luke Smith, has taken to Twitter...

Whether it’s the multi-faceted, head-scratching dynamic of the Vault of Glass or the ultra-tense shootout that often erupted during Crota’s End, Destiny‘s raids have quickly grew into one of the most enticing features of Bungie’s title. For a game marketed as a shared-world shooter, they are the closest element the IP comes to becoming a bona fide Mmo, as Guardians engage in the complex, six-player missions against various galactic foes.
For The Taken King, though, Bungie has confirmed that Destiny’s latest – and biggest – expansion pack won’t include a raid at launch. Fear not, though, because the studio reportedly has a plan for its eventual release.
More News From The Web
At least, that’s according to The Taken King Director Luke Smith, who allayed fears that budding Guardians would be left longing for a new raid to make it into Destiny. Speaking to IGN...

If you were to track the timeline of Destiny from the moment of release until now, you’ll soon discover that Bungie’s shared-world shooter has undergone a series of tweaks and changes as the game continually evolves based on player feedback and an adaptive end goal. Heck, you could even go so far at to argue that the title’s first year on the market was one giant beta test.
Nevertheless, ahead of the release of The Taken King expansion next month, Bungie has made the decision to cut Peter Dinklage’s voice acting in its entireity, drafting in industry veteran Nolan North – most notable for his work on Deadpool and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series – to supplant the Game of Thrones star in the role of AI companion, Ghost.
That’s according to Game Informer, with the outlet delving into the Dlc’s finer details as part of this month’s cover story.

Though he's beloved on "Game of Thrones" in the role of Tyrion Lannister, actor Peter Dinklage's voice work as the floating drone/narrator the Ghost in last year's video game juggernaut "Destiny" was not quite so well received.
In fact it was unanimously panned and joked about to such an extent that not only is he being recast for the game's upcoming first major expansion pack 'The Taken King,' but all his previous work is being expunged - essentially erasing his entire contribution to the game.
Video game voice veteran Nolan North - the man responsible for the voices of Nathan Drake in the "Uncharted" series, The Penguin in the "Batman: Arkham" game series, Desmond Miles in the "Assassin's Creed" games - has been hired to take over the role of Ghost from now on according to Game Informer.

Bungie Day was Tuesday, the day the legendary developer of Halo takes to focus on the strong community that has formed around their games. What better way to celebrate than to discuss the rough couple of weeks Bungie has had concerning their most recent hit, Destiny. Let’s get some things out of the way first. Yes, people still play this game. Sure, there are a lot of complaints about the game, but that’s because, deep down, Destiny is an awesome game. It’s an extremely polished shooter infused with some of the best elements of an Mmo, making it strikingly familiar and yet daringly different. The reason people are so vocal about the game isn’t because it is bad. If the game was bad, it wouldn’t be played and it would die in silence. Instead, Destiny has near limitless potential, which makes it all the more...

Along with the expected batch of new content and weaponry, Bungie is also targeting an overhaul to Destiny‘s quest system via September’s The Taken King expansion, not to mention increasing the number of bounties a Guardian can carry at any given time.
Luke Smith, acting as Creative Director on The Taken King, detailed some of these improvements in question. In terms of quests, those changes will materialize in the form of an all-new tab in the player’s menu, where Guardians can can a watchful eye over their quests and active bounties – which will also have their maximum capacity bumped from 10 to 16.
Since launch, bounties tethered to exotic weapons have proved to be fan favorites, as they “took you on a journey through multiple activities — which in the best cases had flashes of unique moments — and ended with rewards players cared about. Bungie Believes Destiny Still Has “Huge Amount” Of Potential; Ice-White PS4 Hardware Bundle Revealed
Love it or loathe it, Bungie’s Destiny has irrefutably carved out a loyal and dedicated following across a myriad of platforms. However, after releasing the base game along with two post-launch expansions, the creative team has no plans to rest on their laurels, and Lead Designer Luke Smith has hinted at the “ridiculous amount of work” still do to as they massage the IP into a bona fide franchise.
Speaking on PlayStation’s maiden Conversations with Creators roundtable, Smith touched upon the status of the shared-world shooter, and hinted that something big is on the horizon beyond September’s The Taken King.
“I actually don’t think there are many, or any, people on the Bungie team who look at Destiny as a job well done. It’s like a job in progress that has a ridiculous amount of work in front of us and huge amount of potential...

Bungie may be embroiled in a heated debate concerning the price structure within upcoming Destiny expansion The Taken King, but the developer recently took time to talk to Eurogamer about the shared-world shooter’s PS4 content, and how it’s set to be remixed ahead of its arrival on Xbox platforms later this year.
Specifically, Creative Director Luke Smith confirmed that the likes of the Dust Palace and The Undying Mind strike missions, exotic weapons in the form of Hawkmoon and The Fourth Horsemen along with PvP maps Exodus Blue and The Timekeepe will be available on Xbox systems for the first time. Not only that, but Smith hinted that the transition to platform to platform will benefit all Destiny players, with PlayStation owners who have perhaps completed the missions already being able to jump into a remixed – and indeed more difficult – version.

Earlier today, Bungie brought word of Destiny‘s new trio of subclasses set to make their debut alongside September’s The Taken King expansion, but now we have some more details pertaining to the Dlc’s mysterious new Raid.
In an interview with VG247, Bungie Programmer Luke Timmins danced around some details for the new-fangled mission, and how a significant chunk of the add-on will take place on Phobos, one of Mars’ many moons.
We’re not going to reveal more details on the raid until closer to launch, but we are very excited about it. The raids are a bit of a gamble when we’re building them. When we were building the Vault of Glass, we didn’t know how popular it was going to be, if it would just be something Luke Smith, our game director, would play with five of his friends, or if it was...

It seems Bungie had one ear to the ground during last year’s release of The Dark Below, as the studio confirmed that Destiny‘s upcoming sophomore Dlc, House of Wolves, will offer less grind and fairer rewards to budding Guardians.
In a thread over on NeoGaf, Destiny Lead Designer Luke Smith touched upon the company’s new approach with the upcoming expansion, and how it will ultimately create an experience that is more rewarding to the player.
“Our philosophy about rewards/loot continue to evolve as we see how players play and react,” Smith stated.
“We will continue to improve acquisition stories and frequency (My understanding of the perception is that Crota’s End drop rates are much improved vs. Vault of Glass), lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster.”

Guitarist slash vocalist Luke Smith explained further in an interview with Seattle Weekly. He said, "I am glad we were named Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. It took us way farther than we thought. We're thankful for that name, but it's time for a change."
On why they picked the name at the first time, he explained, "Well, first of all, we heard from Natalie Portman (her peeps). She's not cool with it. It wasn't a personal thing.

Halo: Reach will be taking a page out of the Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six playbook and will be enabling players to level-up and purchase items through their “Player Investment” system, developed by Luke Smith. The only difference is that Bungie’s Player Investment system will still keep all players on even ground, separate from the level-up system you see in Modern Warfare 2. The Player Investment system is driven by Credits (cR for short) that players will be able to accumulate in both single player and multiplayer games alike. Character customization will not affect player performance, unlike the Rainbow Six: Vegas series, so armor will not have an impact on damage absorption. The customized characters will also appear in cutscenes.
Likewise to the Modern Warfare series, there will be challenges that take place either daily or weekly, depending on what they are. You can find something equal to “perform 5 headshots...
