Neighbours certainly knows how to go big on drama. Last year, the long-running Aussie soap was cancelled and bowed out in style with an emotional finale episode, but in a shocking twist less than four months later it was announced the show was returning, with new episodes set to air on Amazon Freevee later this year. Strewth!
Meanwhile, Freevee is offering a taste of Neighbours’ greatness, having released 50 classic episodes for fans to enjoy, plus the entire 2012 series, with more episodes on the way each month. You can currently relive iconic moments like Scott and Charlene’s poptastic wedding, poor Harold Bishop being lost at sea and then turning up with amnesia five years later, and Dee and Toadie accidentally driving off a cliff on their wedding day.
You can also revisit Neighbours power-couple Karl and Susan Kennedy’s eventful trip to London back in 2007, a bizarre sequence of episodes...

Capitalist demon Paul Robinson rides again! Neighbours is returning. After bowing out to much fanfare in July following its Channel 5 cancellation, a new series of the Australian soap is due to air on Amazon Freevee in the latter half of 2023. Actor/Feel Good Maker Stefan Dennis will be back as Paul Robinson, joined by Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne as Karl and Susan Kennedy, and Ryan Moloney as Toadfish Rebecchi.
Is it good news? It is for the cast, obviously, who won’t have to rely solely on UK panto roles and Strictly Come Dancing to pay the bills. It’s also good news for fans of cancelled shows everywhere crossing their fingers for resurrection.
For viewers though, it feels like… medium news, a bit like finding out the family pet you buried months earlier has come back to life. Obviously ‘hooray’ but also, Rover is still pretty old and smelly,...

After airing what was thought to be its final episode earlier this year, Neighbours is set to make a shock return to screens in 2023.
The Australian soap was cancelled in February after Channel 5 decided to stop airing the show in the UK. When production company Fremantle was unable to find another channel to carry the programme, the show was cancelled altogether due to a lack of funding.
To mark the end of the programme, several notable actors from the show’s 36-year history returned to say goodbye, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie, Holly Valance and Guy Pearce.
The final episode drew in 2.5 million viewers – a significantly higher number than usual.
However, an announcement made on Thursday (17 November) has confirmed that the show has been picked up once again by Amazon Freevee, with new episodes to air next year.
As of yet, series stars Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson...

If you’d do it for Eurovision, then my god man, do it for Ramsay Street. On Friday the 29th of July (Thursday the 28th in Australia), open your home and your heart and pour one out for the Erinsborough crew. Because these people deserve a send-off. For 37 years, they’ve been trapped in a washing machine cycle set to stress (intense soil). Kidnappings, drownings, deadly rivalries, adultery, murder, Karl Kennedy… They’ve each had to stand in line and take their turn burning down the Lassiters Complex, getting amnesia and marrying Paul Robinson, and why?
For us, that’s why, to beam some bright Australian sunshine into our grey, grey lives. Throwing them a farewell party is the least we can do in return. But how to go about it? What snacks to prepare, or decorations to rustle up? What’s the playlist and the dress code? Don’t...

Speculation about the Neighbours finale is rife. How do you end a story that’s been 37 years in the telling? With a natural disaster, a wedding or a plane crash? Could there possibly be another explosion at the surely-by-now-uninsurable Lassiters Complex? Is there anybody left that Paul Robinson hasn’t yet married?
We know a fleet of guest stars and familiar faces – Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan among them – will be returning for one last visit to Erinsborough. Set leaks suggest that the final ever scene will be a sweetly nostalgic capper to almost four decades of drama. If Neighbours were true to its roots though, it might end just as it began – with a sinister, overblown 80s nightmare sequence that’s more Elm Street than Ramsay Street.
On the 18th of March 1985, Grundy Television’s new soap aired on the Seven network in Australia. And it was determined to make an impression.
