Michael Su’s 2023 film, Bloodthirst, is about a vampire hunter who earns his bread slaying vampires in a post-apocalyptic world. This world is overrun by vampires and is controlled mainly by two factions, who are always at war. As for humans, they remain few in number. As a result, both factions of the blood-sucking beasts are on the brink of extinction, owing to both starvation and the growing threat of vampire hunters who’ll do anything to free this world from these demons. The vampires, on the flip side, often infiltrate human populations in large numbers to drain them of their blood and increase their numbers. As a fallout, they are in continuous dispute with their human counterparts. Those who’re lucky die, and those who aren’t, usually end up joining their flock. They aren’t like the usual vampires we see in the movies, who only poke at night to fill their bellies.

Bloodthirst is from the folks at Mahal Empire, last year they gave us their version of the zombie apocalypse, Bridge of the Doomed. This year they’re revisiting the apocalypse, only in Bloodthirst the threat comes from a different strain of the undead, vampires. Interestingly, both films were directed by Michael Su and written by Adrian Milnes this time with a story credit to Massimiliano Cerchi
In the world of Bloodthirst two factions of vampires fight for control of what’s left of the planet. What’s left of humanity is caught in the middle and rapidly heading for extinction, something that would doom the vampires as well. John Shepard walks that world as a vampire hunter who’s on the trail of The Master Vampire.

Following the rather pant wettingly exciting news that everyone’s favourite android, Spartan warrior, sex addict, Jewish holocaust survivor turned revenge seeker and just general human being Michael Fassbender will be discreetly stabbing and killing evil people in crusade era middle east in the movie adaptation of Assassins Creed; we here at WhatCulture towers have allowed ourselves a little bit of excitement…Before going back under the whip, strapped to the desk and working laboriously for the good of the masses.
In the midst of this hard labour we have paused for thought on what other of our favourite game franchises should be given the inevitable film adaptation and who we would like to star in them. There are only two rules on this journey…
Rule number 1: No Mark Wahlberg.
Rule number 2: No Mark Wahlberg.
So let’s see what franchises could be gracing our cinema screens next...

Editor’s Note: The first installment of Michael’s Review Diary, which will irreverently follow his progress through Mass Effect 3 (and will also include a conventional review – coming very soon – for those of you who prefer that sort of thing). Lots of in-jokes below, so it’s best if you’ve played up to this point before you read…
The Mass Effect series is a defining trilogy that has managed to bridge the gap of RPG and Action enough to satisfy fans of both genres. I myself have rarely been as engrossed in a game as Mass Effect 2, and yet my story and my relationships deviate just enough that the experience felt personal to me that others could almost have been playing a different game entirely.
With this thought in mind I thought I’d take you through my journey as Shepard – strong, masculine, unlucky-in-love Shepard. His Commander’s Log if you will.

If you have Netflix and are a horror fan in need of something to watch this Labor Day weekend, one look at this gargantuan list I compiled of the new terror titles Netflix has added for instant streaming in just the first three days of this month should keep you busy until Labor Day next year. You'll find something for everyone, from older titles to recent releases, famous to obscure, classic to not-so-classic, monsters to maniacs - you name it.
For the record, I considered compiling this list in alphabetical order or by year of the film's release, but then I realized I had already spent well over an hour just sorting through the massive catalogue of titles Netflix has now made available for instant streaming and realized Labor Day would be over by the time I finished arranging this list in any kind of order. Ready? Here you go.

One of the most important things for me in a video game isn’t how good it looks, how great the story is, or even if it has multiplayer. It’s the hero. Why? It’s just as important to have an interesting protagonist in a story as it is to have a story that drives the hero in the first place. From Super Mario Bros. all the way to Uncharted, the protagonist I play often has a large impact on how I enjoy the story.
Why is the protagonist of a video game important to my enjoyment? Because he is my (and I hate to use the phrase now) avatar that connects me to the world. And if the game I’m playing isn’t a RPG where I can customize most aspects of my player-character, I damn sure want to be able to manipulate somebody who’s interesting.

Chicago – The reboot of “Friday the 13th” was another financially successful notch in the belt of Platinum Dunes, the film company behind the remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “The Hitcher,” and “The Amityville Horror”. Making $90 million worldwide and more domestically than any previous Jason Voorhees movie (that didn’t include Freddy Krueger), “Friday the 13th” has a following that will be ecstatic with the excellent Blu-Ray release for the slasher title.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 The Blu-Ray of “Friday the 13th” delivers everything fans could ask for. Not only do they present a longer and better cut of the film in the 9-minutes-longer “Extended Cut,” but the special features enhance the “Friday the 13th” experience and the technical transfer is nearly flawless.
Friday the 13th was released on Blu-Ray on June 16th, 2009.

As for the film itself, my response to “Friday the 13th” is mixed at best. I love...

A freelancer's decision to hang with Heath Ledger, rather than report on him, has earned her the right to sue with him in mind. A Los Angeles judge on Monday greenlighted a revised lawsuit brought by an unidentified woman who claims that she was caught on tape by two paparazzi as they secretly shot Ledger. "She was acting like a star-struck fan rather than as a celebrity reporter," L.A. Superior Court Judge John Shepard Wiley said in his ruling. "This is real Hollywood socializing." Getting to meet Ledger was, for the plaintiff, a "smitten fan's dream come true. She's going to hang out with a movie star like any other fan of this star might think was a good thing to...
