Often typecast in films as charming, top-hatted, typically Viennese heartthrobs, bon vivants or elegant aristocrats.
The actor Karl Schönböck entered successfully a career as a sportsman in his youth and was second in heavyweight of the boxing newcomer championship in 1926. Later he also won the West German district championship in fencing.
In the following decades after World War II he took part in a multitude of movies, but great variations wasn't granted to him. Besides the movies of the 60's and 70's didn't reach the quality of earlier years and Karl Schönböck acted often - besides few exceptions - in average entertainment movies.
He made his acting debut at the Stadttheater Meissen in 1930, it followed other engagements in Hannover, Salzburg and Berlin.
