AMC Networks’ Sundance Now has acquired Schiaffino Musarra’s Swedish crime comedy series “We Got This” from Banijay Rights for the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
The show follows George English (Musarra), a recently jobless American man living in Sweden who sets off to solve the 30-year-old murder of the former prime minister Olof Palme, in hopes that the 50 million Swedish crown ($5 million) reward can pay off his insurmountable tax bill. English teams with his closest friend, a wacky conspiracy theorist and former police officer, as he ventures into a web of intrigue.
Created and co-written by Musarra, the six-part dark comedy series is set against the backdrop of the true story of Palme’s assassination in 1986. Until recently, a reward was being offered by Swedish authorities, given Palme was hailed a national hero for his humanism. Ironically, “We Got This” finished airing in Sweden just days before...

Snabba Cash (Easy Money), the Swedish Netflix original series that is being produced by Sf Studios, is underway in Stockholm.
Evin Ahmad, known from the feature film Dröm Vidare and two Netflix series Quicksand and The Rain season 2, is playing the lead. The show is a reboot of a trilogy of feature films based on the Stockholm Noir books by Jens Lapidus. Nordic major Sf Studios produced the features and is also behind the TV adaptation.
Covid safety procedures being taken on the pic include many team members wearing masks, regular temperature checks, a nurse available on set as well as an appointed coronavirus guard who will ensure people keep distance, and the production team being divided up into zones to avoid unnecessary contact.
Lapidus’ bestselling Stockholm Noir trilogy, set in the city’s underworld, have been adapted into more than 30 languages. Events in the series will take place ten years after the films,...

An American actor-turned-screenwriter living in Sweden, Schiaffino Musarra dared to tackle his adoptive country’s “greatest tragedy and biggest embarrassment” in his crime comedy “We Got This,” which bowed May 3 on Swedish broadcaster Svt.

"The kids have no confidence in me. I know nothing about soccer." Cohen Media Group has released the official Us trailer for a Swedish drama called Britt-Marie Was Here, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Fredrik Backman ("A Man Called Ove"). This premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival earlier this year. Directed by Swedish actress / filmmaker Tuva Novotny, the film tells the story of a woman who leaves her husband after 40 years to find some new meaning in life. Backman's "particular brand of witty humor and inspiring themes of self-discovery have effectively been captured," with a stand-out lead performance by Pernilla August in the main role. It also stars Peter Haber, Malin Levanon, Vera Vitali, Olle Sarri, Mahmut Suvakci, Lancelot Ncube, and Anders Mossling. This looks fun! Even if you're not someone who is leaving their marriage after 40 years, there's still some charming entertainment to be found in here.

The anticipated ensemble comedy Movie 43 hits theatres next weekend, and with possibly the biggest and best assembled cast of all time, we didn’t think things could get much bigger or better. But this latest TV spot reveals something that makes it that much more of a must-see comedy: Seth MacFarlane.
We were treated to a great new TV spot yesterday, giving us sixty seconds of comedy goodness, and this new TV spot brings with it new footage aplenty, including a look at Seth MacFarlane, Common, Dennis Quaid, and Greg Kinnear, with the involvement of all four being until-now unannounced. Which begs the question, do we have more surprises in store for us when Movie 43 lands next week?

With probably the biggest and best ensemble cast ever assembled, we’ve got a lot to look forward to with the release of Movie 43 next weekend.
All we’ve seen from the film so far suggests it’s going to be comedy gold (leprechaun pun not intended), with the latest two TV spots surfacing last week. And now Momentum have released another spot, giving us 60 seconds of Movie 43 goodness.
“Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
From the twisted minds of producers Peter Farrelly (Hall Pass, Shallow Hal) and Charles Wessler (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber), comes Movie 43– the outrageous new ensemble comedy starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Movie 43 is not for the easily-offended and contains jaw-dropping, sometimes shockingly disturbing, but always entertaining intertwined storylines you’ll have to see to believe.”

Movie 43 has quite possibly the biggest and best cast of all time, with the ensemble comedy featuring the likes of Emma Stone, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Anna Faris, Jason Sudeikis, Elizabeth Banks, and many, many more.
We caught two new UK posters just in time for Christmas, and now two new TV spots have made their way online, giving us another great look at what should be an awesome comedy before it hits theatres in two weeks’ time.

Movie 43 has undeniably one of the greatest and largest ensemble casts of any comedy ever. We’ve seen plenty from the movie already to suggest it’s going to be a lot of fun next year, earning its R-rating and then some.
Last month treated us to a great new red-band preview, red-band featurette, and a new poster, and now we’ve had the two variants of the UK poster sent over to share.

Movie 43 has by far the biggest and best ensemble cast of any film I can remember, and with such awesome talent both behind and in front of the camera, it promises to be one of the funniest films of next year.

With quite probably the best ensemble cast of all time, and a slew of brilliant filmmakers behind the camera, Movie 43 has a lot of potential to be one of the year’s best comedies next year.
With a list of cast, writers, and directors longer than I can ever remember, it’s safe to say this is almost definitely going to be brilliant, and following the release of the red-band trailer a few weeks back, the green-band trailer has now landed.
Naturally, the red-band trailer has the edge over the suitable-for-work version, but it’s still very much promising hilarity and all-round brilliance.

The quaint Swedish town of Backberga appears to be living in the 1970s, at least judging from the characters' fashion sense and the architectural design. Backberga is best known as the home to Universal Communication Development -- otherwise known as Unicom -- a telecom company that has also failed to keep up with the world around it. The old white guys who run Unicom are completely clueless as to why they are stuck in a technological quagmire. Their solution: hire a hip, young marketing guy to whip up some new corporate branding. No one seems to realize that Unicom's biggest problems are related to the recurring black-outs which repeatedly leave Backberga in the dark. The first power outage is accidentally caused by couple of hapless Unicom electrical engineers -- Roland (Jimmy Lindström) and Jörgen (Olle Sarri) -- and it is this event that serves as the catalyst that sets the...

Here's a piece of Scandi film news we're happy to come across. Jesper Ganslandt will commence filming on his third film sometime this spring. The Swedish filmmaker's aptly titled Blondie most probably refers to the airhead factor in a trio of the figures involved rather than the nation's dominant hair color or the late 70's singer/songwriter. Principle cast include four actresses of which the very cute Alexandra Dahlstrom (of Lukas Moodysson's Fucking Amal fame and most recently, a bit part in Romain Gavras' Our Day Will Come) might be the more internationally known. Part of Sweden's current new wave of auteurs (Ruben Östlund, Tomas Alfredson and Henrik Hellström & Fredrik Wenzel) post-Moodysson, Ganslandt really took centre stage with sophomore film which played out on the major film festival circuit (which is where we found the film). Jesper Kurlandsk who previously produced Ganslandt's last film will produce again. Gist: Blondie is about a family,...

Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt announces himself as a significant new talent with this brilliant study of a man in psychological crisis, writes Peter Bradshaw
Perhaps the very first thing to be said about this feature is that it contains an extraordinarily, suicidally dangerous stunt, involving a train. Can that have been achieved with digital trickery? Alternatively, did they have official permission to do it for real? The answer looks like no in both cases. And yet such is the trauma and fear that linger around this film like a gaseous vapour, that this stunt is hardly less shocking than the low-key implications that build up throughout the action.
