NEW YORK -- The Tribeca Film Festival and sister nonprofit Tribeca Film Institute presented six filmmakers from underrepresented communities with the Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Awards Friday.
Pete Chatmon and co-writer Candice Sanchez McClaren took home the narrative award for their bank heist screenplay "$Free.99." Leigh Dana Jackson won in the emerging narrative section for his time travel-themed script "The Infinite Life of Stuart Hornsley."
Gemma Cubero and Celeste Carrasco won the docu section work-in-progress "She Wants to Be A Matador", and Anslem Richardson won the screenwriting prize for the car-crash drama "Bardos".
Richardson took home $8,500, while the other filmmakers received $12,000 in their categories.
The ceremony was held Friday night at Budakkan in Manhattan.
