There have been a whole host of movies featuring Frankenstein’s monster. The first appeared in 1910 and the most famous and best is still 1931’s Frankenstein. Its sequel in 1935 – Bride of Frankenstein – is another classic but there’s been probably more misses than hits since then. In 2013 Frankenstein’s Army had some cool ideas but didn’t hit the heights it perhaps should have while the following year’s I, Frankenstein was a fun, if throwaway, action horror. Bernard Rose directed 2015’s Frankenstein and I wish more people would check that out because it’s great. While this year brings Lisa Frankenstein and this, co-writer/director Paul Dudbridge’s Frankenstein’s Legacy.

Emerging star from Hong Kong, Isabella Wei, headlines Silent D Pictures’ comedy-drama “High Wire.”
The film follows the story of Go-wing, a British-Chinese takeaway girl who discovers her inner strength and artistic bravery when a circus comes to her small English town. As Go-wing navigates the challenges of her dual cultural identity, she finds herself at a crossroads and must decide between conforming to societal expectations or forging her own path towards her dreams. The film pays homage to the first and second generations of Chinese immigrants and their journey to adapt to life in England whilst facing issues of systemic racism and discrimination.
Wei’s breakout performance was in Netflix’s mystery sci-fi series “1899,” where she played the enigmatic Ling Yi, a geisha. Wei is also set to appear in Rupert Sanders’ much anticipated reboot of “The Crow” alongside Bill Skarsgård, Danny Huston and FKA Twigs.

Earlier this year, we heard that Paul Dudbridge had directed a “period action thriller” called Fear the Invisible Man. Since making Fear the Invisible Man, Dudbridge has moved on to directing another movie inspired by a classic horror tale. His latest film is called Frankenstein: Legacy, and 101 Films International is presenting it to potential distributors.

Screen Daily reports this morning that UK sales and distribution label 101 Films International has landed worldwide distribution rights for a gothic drama titled Frankenstein Legacy.
Unlike most Frankenstein films, it sounds like this one doesn’t focus on Victor Frankenstein and his Monster at all. Rather, it takes place many, many years After those events.
Directed by Paul Dudbridge (Fear The Invisible Man), the film is “set in an unruly England in 1875, a century after Victor Frankenstein’s failed creature creation. Graves are being torn up, and patients are disappearing from the local asylum. When one woman’s husband dies from suicide, she looks to Frankenstein’s journals for a way to bring him back.”
Juliet Aubrey, Michelle Ryan, Philip Martin Brown and Matt Barber star.

I’ve been a fan of horror anthology films for a long time, since the first time I laid eyes upon freaky treats like Creepshow and such, so I’m always intrigued when another pops up, in this case a French horror anthology that started life as a TV series, but has been reshuffled into an anthology feature here.
Dark Stories takes five horror stories and injects them into our veins with horror, suspense and thrills galore, with alien life, zombies, ghosts and ghouls to tickle the taste buds of any horror lover, it manages to change pace and tone regularly to keep things from becoming tedious or samey, which I thought really set it apart.

Alien: River Of Pain, the novel by Christopher Maggs, has been given a glossy audio drama adaptation by Dirk Maggs and the fine folks at Audible.
The story is set before and during the events of Aliens, offering further details about the Hadley’s Hope colony of Lv-426, what went wrong there, and how the decision was made to send Ripley, Burke, Bishop and the Colonial Marines to investigate.
A number of cast members from the film reprise their roles: William Hope as Lieutenant Gorman, Mac MacDonald as Colony Administrator Al Simpson, Stuart Milligan as the salvager that found Ripley drifting in deep space, and Alibe Parsons as Gateway Station’s med tech.

HeyUGuys were on hand to witness the beaming of Audible’s new audio drama Alien: River of Pain into space at an exclusive first-listen event. It was held at the stunning Royal Observatory in Greenwich’s planetarium ahead of the audio drama’s release on 26th April, which is officially Alien Day.
In many ways the location is perfect for such an event as the Royal Observatory Greenwich is one of the most important historic scientific sites in the world. Since its founding in 1675, Greenwich has been at the centre of the measurement of time and space, and you can actually still stand on the historic Prime Meridian line there. In many ways it was completely surreal to be there to witness an occasion that was part Carl Sagan’s Contact and part showbiz extravaganza at its finest.

We got a taster of Audible’s new drama, Alien: River Of Pain. Here’s the new trailer and what we thought...
On a grey afternoon in Greenwich, I trundled through a park and struggled up an incline to reach London’s Royal Observatory. I was lured into this physical exertion by the promise of canapés, drinks and sneak peek at Alien: River Of Pain, a new Audible drama that will bridge the gap between Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens.
After taking a second to catch my breath and immortalise the iconic London skyline with a half-arsed smartphone photo, I said my awkward hellos, stashed my belongings in a cloakroom and made my way into the event. As promised, bubbly was flowing and tiny nibbles were being circulated.
Staff carried snacks atop rectangular glass cases, which contained little black rocks. Space-y looking rocks.

Alec Baldwin is the one pulling the strings as a futuristic puppet master in the first clip for Andron – The Black Labyrinth, Francesco Cinquemani’s nutty new sci-fi that’s set for a simultaneous release across VOD and select theaters on June 3.
Arriving to us by way of The Wrap, the snippet introduces moviegoers to Baldwin as the merciless games master, thrusting a group of young adults into a dark and dingy maze with little hope of escape. Evoking the dystopian themes synonymous with tentpole franchises such as The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner, Andron is a much more low-key affair, favoring claustrophobic thrills and spills over lavish CG set-pieces.
Andron is the name of the maze, and outfoxing Baldwin’s power-mongering trickster looks to be the game, with the movie’s official logline revealing that the Ya cast “have no idea how they got there to begin with,...

They have no idea how they got there to begin with, and soon find themselves deciphering codes in order to beat the tests put before them in the bizarre, scary environment. "All this is Andròn - the quest for the contenders." The first trailer has debuted for an interesting sci-fi film called Andròn - The Black Labyrinth, or just Andron. It's about a dark, claustrophobic maze being run by Alec Baldwin, who broadcasts the fights of the various contenders hoping to survive. This seems like some weird mash-up of Cube and The Hunger Games, with a dose of The Maze Runner because of course. The ensemble cast includes Michelle Ryan, Danny Glover, Leo Howard, Gale Harold, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Gaia Scodellaro and Margareth Madè. There are some cool moments in this (the opening looks great) but I'm not sure if it'll be any good, especially with such a low IMDb rating. Fire it up. Here's the first trailer for Francesco Cinquemani's Andròn - The Black Labyrinth, found on YouTube: A group of people are plunged into a dark, claustrophobic maze, where they must fight to survive,...

As I watched the trailer for Andròn, a new sci-fi film starring Alec Baldwin, Michelle Ryan, and Danny Glover, I made the decision that it was so boring and derivative that I wasn't interested in it enough to write about it for GeekTyrant. But then something amazing happened at the 1:36 mark:
"They're off the grid," one character tells Baldwin.
"Then Get Them Back On The Grid!" he yells, throwing a chair in frustration.
A dialogue exchange That ridiculous deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. Will the movie be any good? It looks like a lame blend of The Hunger Games and Cube, so probably not. Does it have the potential to be terrible and entertaining at the same time? If there are more lines like that one — absolutely.
They don’t remember how they got there. They don’t even remember their names. A group...

With the success of "The Hunger Games" and "The Maze Runner" franchises, there's inevitable low-budget films trying to copy that style - one of which is Italian filmmaker Francesco Cinquemani's UK sci-fi film "Andron - The Black Labyrinth". Today, the trailer for it has dropped.
Alec Baldwin is the President Snow of this particular film, one in which a group of people are plunged into a dark, claustrophobic maze, where they must fight to survive as the outside world watches. Michelle Ryan, Danny Glover, Leo Howard, Gale Harold, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Gaia Scodellaro and Margareth Made also star in the film which hasn't set a release date as yet.

While Halloween was fast approaching, I was getting incredibly restless with which Horror film or rather films I’d spend the day watching. I mean, do I play safe and watch something like ‘Shaun of the Dead’ or even ‘Alien’ that I must admit, I both love and have seen a million, trillion times each. Or shall I search for a movie that I haven’t seen before. It’s a completely daft question to get myself worked up over; but if you’re such a film buff and Horror fanatic as I am, you should easily understand.
That’s when a little challenge was thrown my way. Why not travel around the world – not in a physical sense, but in the comfort of my home – and find a Horror film I haven’t seen from as many countries as possible. It’s easy enough to do,...

From the Queen Vic to the Tardis. As Eastenders prepares to mark its 30th anniversary, we look back at its encounters with Doctor Who...
Back in the mid-eighties an actor who played "Third Assistant" in a Doctor Who story called The Savages (1966) and the director of another Doctor Who adventure, The Underwater Menace (1967), came together to create one of the BBC’s most successful television shows.
And when they got together, it was murder. Well, not quite. (Though the first episode did feature a victim who would later die, fact fans.) But what they did create was Eastenders.
Broadcast on February the 19th 1985 (in between episodes one and two of The Two Doctors), this creation of Who alumni would go on to share numerous links with the long-running science-fiction for years to come. Even its time-slot owes much to the adventures of everyone’s favourite Gallifreyan.

One of the most notable Hollywood trends of late is the way in which studios have gravitated towards dystopian stories situated within an all-encompassing battle arena. From The Hunger Games to the soon-to-be-released The Maze Runner, it appears as though these productions are channeling a barbaric spectatorship that harkens back to the Roman Empire and the blood-drenched days of the Colosseum.
And the latest project to venture into such a genre is Francesco Cinquemani’s directorial debut, Andron — The Black Labyrinth, which recently added Danny Glover and Alec Baldwin to its cast.
Speaking of the core concept behind the upcoming sci-fi adventure, Andrew Iervolino, Ambi Pictures Group’s producer — the company behind the film — stated that recruiting the likes of Glover and Baldwin only elevate the production to new heights.

The Voice returned tonight, and it did it in a very impressive manner indeed. New coaches Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson were great additions to the panel, but obviously they would mean nothing - nothing - without some talent. Luckily, there was heaps of it.
Six artists made it through to the second round after tonight's blind auditions, but who were our favourites? Well, to be honest, we liked every one of them, so the ranking was tougher than expected - but we soldiered on.
Obviously we couldn't include those who didn't make it through, so it is with a heavy heart that we report Nessa impersonator Tara Lewis is not in the list (neither, for that matter, is Danielle's show-stealing daughter Anaia.) But below we present to you our ranking of the auditionees - let us know if you agree by posting in the comments box below!

Throughout the run of Doctor Who, everyone’s favorite Gallifreyan has encountered many characters and left them, never to be seen again. Others, a select few, he has invited to travel the universe with him, adding an extra dimension to his adventures. There have been some individuals, however, with whom The Doctor has clearly shared a good rapport but who have not ended up as Companions, for numerous reasons. Here, in chronological order of appearance, are seven characters from the modern series we would’ve loved to see travel the universe in the Tardis.
Note: for this list, in addition to only including characters who have met the Ninth, Tenth, or Eleventh Doctor, only the television appearances of each character are being considered.
1. Charles Dickens
Appeared in: “The Unquiet Dead”
Played by: Simon Callow
