EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer has revealed that "brilliant" twists are planned for the soap's ongoing Lucas Johnson plotline. Sinister man of the cloth Lucas, played by Don Gilet, was seen accidentally killing his wife Trina (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) in September this year. He then hastily covered up his involvement in her passing. Meanwhile, last month, the priest claimed a second victim when he targeted Owen Turner (Lee Ross), the ex-husband of his new partner Denise (Diane Parish). Speaking about the character's future in an interview with Digital Spy, Santer teased: "Lucas is doing the Lord's work and who knows what that's doing to his head - maybe he'll kill again. "Lucas's story is (more) »

This is the jaw-dropping moment that EastEnders pastor Lucas Johnson murders his wife-to-be's ex-husband Owen Turner in cold blood - by strangling him. Panicking that Owen (Lee Ross) is about to expose his involvement in Trina's (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) death earlier in the year, Lucas - played by Don Gilet - drives the pair to a secluded location where a showdown ensues. Rattled by Owen's accusations, Lucas's mind goes into overdrive. Pushed further to the edge by Owen's words, Lucas removes his bow tie, forms a ligature and swiftly strangles him. With a body on the back seat of the wedding car, Lucas finds some spare carpet in a nearby skip and wraps him inside, before bundling him in the boot of the motor. With that, Lucas turns up at his wedding and happily (more) »

This month in soap, run, Roy, run! Tony's out to silence his confidant in Corrie; Ronnie finds a new sperm donor in EastEnders; and there's another fire in arson-prone Emmerdale
Exciting times on Coronation Street. Maria knows that Tony killed her ex-husband, Liam. Again. Let's be frank: Maria knew this last Boxing Day when she punched Tony's face, then painted "Murderer" on the side of Underworld in foot-high, blood-red letters. It didn't stop Maria forming a meaningful life-partnership with Tony months later and letting him prance off to baby yoga with her baby strapped to his chest. "Oooh, you're a right softeh, you are!
Can I have that foot rub you promised me later?" Maria would beam as Britain scrunched its face and developed anxiety-related ezcema at her idiocy.
Maria is, let there be no quibble, a solid gold idiot. She was an idiot when she slept with Toyah's boyfriend, »

EastEnders actor Don Gilet has insisted that his character Lucas Johnson does not simply regard Denise Wicks as a trophy partner. Troubled priest Lucas will be seen killing off Denise's ex-husband Owen Turner (Lee Ross) next week after his suspicions threaten to spoil their wedding plans. Speaking in an interview with Digital Spy, Gilet explained that Lucas and Denise's (Diane Parish) relationship cannot be classed purely as true love nor a marriage of convenience, describing the shop assistant as "the good woman [Lucas] thinks he should have". "It's not quite as simple as a token wife. She's a strong woman and she's his rock, so if those two can survive, they can take on the world," Gilet commented. He continued: "[Lucas has] found a woman who's strong-willed, strong-minded, a good mother (more) »

EastEnders star Don Gilet has admitted that he had mixed feelings when he was told about his character's forthcoming murder twist. The actor's malevolent Lucas Johnson will provide a new Walford shock next week when he kills off his fiancée's ex-husband Owen Turner (Lee Ross). In an interview with Digital Spy, Gilet revealed that while he was thrilled to be offered such a high-profile plot, he also felt sadness when he realised that Lucas's Albert Square journey could soon be over. He commented: "I was excited. I was very happy but of course it's a double-edged sword. You can only do so many bad things in a soap or any kind of drama. There's a ticking clock to say these characters can only stay for so long once they go down the path of doing so much evil. "Somehow they have to make an exit, if it's not with their »

EastEnders actor Don Gilet has admitted that he does not know what to expect next from his sinister Walford character Lucas Johnson. Viewers have already seen man of the cloth Lucas accidentally killing wife Trina (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) before desperately covering up his involvement in her death. In next week's episodes of the Walford-based drama, Lucas's menacing side will emerge again as he bumps off Owen Turner (Lee Ross), the ex-husband of his fiancée Denise Wicks (Diane Parish). Discussing how Lucas's storyline could continue, Gilet told Digital Spy: "I really don't know. Using common sense you feel there's a natural end to certain things - there's an arc of a story - and you think how long can you get away with this? Is there more to him? Is he likely (more) »

Former EastEnders stars Lee Ross and Kate Williams are to return to the BBC soap later this year as screen mother and son Owen and Liz Turner. Ross, 38, first appeared as Denise Wicks's (Diane Parish) alcoholic ex-husband Owen in June 2006 when he arrived in Walford to make contact with his daughter Libby (Belinda Owusu). During his stay, he rekindled his romance with Denise, but his violent behaviour soon reared its head when he hit her and subsequently held her hostage in her own flat. The police arrested him and he was remanded in custody pending trial. In September 2006, Owen's mother Liz (Williams) visited her son in prison prior to his court appearance, in which he received a six-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years. Following his release, Liz urged her son to start a new life in Wales but at a low ebb, Owen knocked his mother unconscious (more) »
