With three “Star Wars” series competing for the first time in the same Emmy season — especially in the craft races — how can the critically acclaimed yet underperforming “Andor” hold its own against “The Mandalorian” (which has amassed 14 craft wins in two seasons), let alone the Jedi-infused “Obi-Wan Kenobi” limited series?
Simple: By touting its strengths as one of the top 10 shows of 2022 (per IndieWire’s Ben Travers), as well as the best “Star Wars” since “Rogue One,” which first introduced Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as part of the daring mission to steal the Death Star plans. In the “Andor” prequel, created by Tony Gilroy (who co-wrote “Rogue One”), we find out how Cassian went from world-weary scavenger to conniving Rebel spy.
Beyond sci-fi, it’s a gritty spy thriller that emphasizes politics more than any other “Star Wars” show, slowly filing in the details of this complex loner, who...

Murdered blogger Gabby Petito took a photo of her scratched and bloody face mere minutes before a bystander called in a domestic violence report against Brian Laundrie.
Petito family lawyer Brian Stewart alleges that police pulled the couple over at 4:55 p.m. on August 12, 2021, just two weeks before Petito’s death.
Stewart points out that the photo suggests cuts to Petito’s cheek and blood smeared across her forehead, left eye, cheek and nose.
The reporter of the incident told police that he witnessed Laundrie, 23, slapping and punching Petito, 22, in a parking lot in Moab, Utah.
“Gabby pointed out the injury to Officer Pratt, but he ignored her and did nothing more to investigate or document the injury,” Stewart said.
In body-cam footage of the traffic stop one of the officers said Petito was the “primary aggressor,” and another officer told Laundrie that he was a “victim of domestic assault.

Midway through Season 1 of “Andor” (streaming on Disney+), it’s very clear that this is like no other “Star Wars” series. Showrunner Tony Gilroy has us hooked with his gritty spy thriller-meets-wartime heist about scavenger-turned Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). It should come as no surprise given what Gilroy previously achieved as the screenwriter of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “The Bourne Identity,” and as writer-director of “Michael Clayton.” His “Rogue One”origin story is the kind of nuanced, slow-burning character study “Star Wars” fans have been waiting for, filling in the details of a complex loner who will eventually light the fuse that ignites the rebellion against the Empire.
“Andor” is a Gilroy sibling collaboration, with Tony joined by screenwriter-director Dan (“Nightcrawler) and editor John (who also cut “Suicide Squad” and “Pacific Rim”). Although Lucasfilm and Disney+ initially wanted a five-season commitment, with each season spanning...

On Sunday, pro-gun advocate Dan Roberts was the latest victim of Who Is America? During the episode, Sacha Baron Cohen impersonated an anti-terror expert and at one point, he taught Roberts how to survive a beheading which ended with a cringe-worthy moment that involved a Roberts handling a sex toy with his mouth.
In a recent interview with the New York Times Roberts addressed his appearance on the show and he wasn’t exactly happy with the results. He claims he didn’t know he was being pranked and that there is a limit to the things he can say because he is “actively exploring what legal remedies may be available.”
He may have been duped and he feels humiliated, naturally, but he accepts that there is nothing more he can do because the episode has aired and he “can’t deny” what he did.

The latest episode of Who Is America?, takes aim at Dan Roberts, the president of Youth Shooters of America, an organization that promotes youth shooting sports.
Disguised as an Israeli terrorism expert named Erran Morad, Sasha Baron Cohen told Roberts the best way to “survive a beheading” was to attack an assailant’s groin.
In order to demonstrate, Cohen strapped on a dildo and asked Roberts to drop to his knees. The pro-gun leader proceeded to bite the fake phallus and barked out muffled commands to the attacker, including “Drop your weapons!

Now in its fifth episode, Sacha Baron Cohen continues his crusade to dupe unsuspecting victims on his Showtime series Who Is America? This week’s episode didn’t include the much-anticipated interview with Sarah Palin, but it did feature interviews with former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, former Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke, and pro-gun advocate Dan Roberts.
Cohen donned his pro-Trump conspiracy theorist Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr. PhD persona to chat with Lewandowski and opened a whole can of worms when it came to Trump’s stance on race.
“I can tell you this…I had the privilege of standing next to Trump for 1,000 hours. Never ever have I heard him utter a racist word in his life,” said Lewandowski when Cohen asked him if Trump is a racist.
“The president doesn’t look at race — never has. Its a non-issue,” added Lewandowski, who is known for ridiculing...
