You know how you can tell when a trend is officially dead? When it becomes associated with a band that your high school Bff's ex-boyfriend really dug. Today, the death knell for the movie-turned-musical resounded o'er hill and dale when Universal Pictures Stage Division announced that '90s pop group/former VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown staple Barenaked Ladies is penning the score for an upcoming musical adaptation of Animal House. The musical will be directed and choreographed by The Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw, with a libretto by playwright Michael Mitnick. Although no casting has been announced yet, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess producers Jerry Frankel and Jerry Richards are slated to produce, and... wait a second.
