London -- Discovery Networks International has appointed Chris Shaw to the new role of senior vice president, commercial development, heading up its Emea and U.K. teams, it was announced Thursday.
Shaw, who previously worked with Simon Fuller as head of commercial strategy at 19 Entertainment, will oversee Discovery's U.K., Europe, Middle East and Africa hubs and aims to expand commercial opportunities in such areas as sponsorship and brand partnership. He also will work on new business opportunities including the development of branded content.
Shaw has worked with Discovery on a consultancy basis over the last year and held senior roles at advertising agency Universal McCann and other agencies.
