A prolific television actor from 1968, he became most famous for his starring role as private detective Jeff Randall in My Partner the Ghost (1969).
Was an accomplished jazz musician, playing piano and guitar. In 1956, along with Lionel Bart and Tommy Hicks (who later changed his name to Tommy Steele), he co-founded a musical trio called 'The Cavemen' who performed in Soho pubs and coffee bars.
