A man from Australia has been stopped twice by police and accused of stealing his own car. John Pettit told the authorities that his 1999 Hyundai station wagon had been taken from his Brisbane home last November, before he found it abandoned at a nearby pub hours later and informed police, The Courier-Mail reports. However, on Christmas Eve, Pettit was pulled over by officers who believed he had stolen the vehicle. They were forced to apologise after checking his identification and admitted that the car had remained in a police database of stolen vehicles.
