Her roommate was Joan Vollmer Adams, future wife of William S. Burroughs. Through
Edie, Kerouac met Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg. Burroughs and Ginsberg would
remain friends with Edie to the end of their lives.
Was Kerouac's muse and had significant influence upon his writing.
Stayed in contact with Kerouac until his death in 1969; he wrote her
letters toward the end of his life, referring to her as his "life's
wife".
Met Jack Kerouac while they were students at Columbia in the early 1940's.
