Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade ranted against the FBI Tuesday morning on “Fox & Friends” in defense of former President Donald Trump, in the aftermath of the bureau’s raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence.
His comments were sparked by the retirement of FBI assistant special agent Timothy Thibault, who earlier this year was accused by Sen. Chuck Grassley of “improper conduct” in regards to the FBI’s investigation into President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden. Grassley alleged that Thibault had interfered in the probe in an effort to shut it down.
“This is the guy who is suppressing the Hunter Biden story that has direct financial links to the future president of the United States,” Kilmeade said. “How this guy is able to retire even though he was walked out in shame is unbelievable!”

“I imagine we will be on his radar and I think it is likely the IRS will start auditing my taxes, but that’s just a guess,” The Comey Rule director Billy Ray said today on how Donald Trump will react to the upcoming Showtime event series. “I think at the very least, I’m in for a mean nickname on Twitter,” the Captain Phillips screenwriter added.
The actor playing ex-Celebrity Apprentice host may be in for a bit more than a mean moniker, in Ray’s estimation. “I wouldn’t want to expose any actor to the flack that I imagine Brendan is about to get from our current President,” he very seriously said Brendan Gleeson. “Ireland may not be far enough away,” Ray joked of the Irish actor’s current location.

The network has also released a first look at Jeff Daniels in character as the former FBI Director, and Brendan Gleeson in full Donald Trump mode.
Now titled “The Comey Rule” and based on Comey’s bestselling book “A Higher Loyalty,” the two-part, four-hour event series will take viewers on an insider’s journey down the corridors of power, where decision-makers struggle to apply old norms to a dramatic new paradigm in the face of Russia’s deep and unprecedented penetration into American politics, with our nation’s rule of law hanging in the balance.

Showtime has just set a late November premiere date over two nights for its limited series The Comey Rule, the $40 million budget adaptation of A Higher Loyalty, the book by former FBI head James Comey that is about his battles with President Donald Trump. The network released the first images of Gleeson playing Trump, and Daniels playing the former FBI chief in a series about the deterioration of their relationship that quickly became a bitter feud when Comey left his post after Trump fired him.
The decision to place the mini after the upcoming presidential elections is a bit of a puzzler, given its stellar cast and provocative premise. Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) plays former FBI Director James Comey and Brendan Gleeson (Mr. Mercedes) plays President Donald J. Trump.

Lisa Page, the former FBI lawyer who worked with former special counsel Robert Mueller on the Russian disinformation probe, has joined NBC News and MSNBC as a national security and legal analyst. The cable network tweeted the announcement Friday night via their corporate public relations account, which Page then retweeted.
Mueller dismissed Page and former FBI agent Andrew Strzok from the Russia investigation after text messages between the two criticizing Donald Trump were leaked to reporters.
In 2019, Page sued the Department of Justice and FBI for disclosing the texts, claiming it was a violation of the Privacy Act. Strzok also sued, saying his termination violated his First Amendment Rights and sought reinstatement and back pay.

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page broke her silence over the weekend, speaking to The Daily Beast to defend herself from the constant attacks she has received from President Donald Trump after anti-Trump text messages surfaced between her and FBI agent Peter Strzok. Trump has used the texts as proof the FBI was against him, but Page maintains that her personal opinions had no bearing on her work at the FBI and the Russia investigation. A report from the Justice Department inspector general is expected on December 9 and reportedly will exonerate her.

Washington, D.C., ground to a standstill on Wednesday morning as former special counsel Robert Mueller testified before two congressional committees on Capitol Hill.
By 9:30 a.m. Pt on Wednesday, words and phrases related to the hearings made up eight of the nine topics trending nationally on Twitter. Social media users and TV viewers reacted in real time to the biggest moments of the testimony — which was only the first of two.

The first round of questioning the former special counsel faced came from House Judiciary Committee chair Rep. Jerry Nadler, who wanted to know whether his report on the 2016 election totally exonerated Trump on obstruction of justice, as the president has claimed.

As Robert Mueller prepared to testify before the House Wednesday, President Trump fired off an addled, early-morning tweetstorm, decrying the “The Greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. history, by far!”
Mueller led the investigation into the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russia, finding no criminal conspiracy with the government of Vladimir Putin, but pointedly refusing to exonerate the president, laying out a stark case in that Trump obstructed justice. As he woke, Trump was still upset by the revelation that Mueller’s longtime top lieutenant, Aaron Zebley, would participate in the hearings.

It’s summertime, which means it’s time to get outdoors for most of the country while the weather is nice. It’s also a time when reruns predominate on television, as the wise networks know that people are outdoors and distracted.
So it is with President Donald Trump’s Twitter communications. Today, he’s at Trump National Golf Club, presumably to hit the links and enjoy some me-time. That made for a light tweeting schedule in the early going, with the Commander-in-Tweet opting to retweet Judicial Watch for most of his morning commentary.
However, he did find time for a few original posts, using them to attack Andy McCabe (“a major sleazebag”) and the Mueller investigation’s controversial deletion of texts between former FBI agent Peter Strzok and his lover, Lisa Page, who talked of an “insurance policy” in case Trump was elected (he was).

Conservative playwright Phelim McAleer has secured a Washington D.C. venue for FBI Lovebirds: UnderCovers, the planned, and already controversial, dramatized staged reading of the anti-Trump text messages of former FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page.
The play, starring Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson in the title roles, will be performed June 13 in the amphitheater at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, just a few blocks from the White House, according to McAleer.
FBI Lovebirds – the title, of course, references the relationship noted bluntly and often by President Donald Trump – was originally set for the same night at D.C.’s Mead Theatre, but was canceled by the theatre after Swanson and others retweeted what the actress described as a death threat made by a Twitter user against the cast and audience.

Another day, another Trump crony hitting the airwaves to confuse the electorate with falsehoods and/or out-and-out lies. On Sunday, it was Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-wy) turn to twist facts in defense of the president.
Cheney, in an interview on ABC’s This Week, took a question from host Martha Raddatz about the president adding to the discord in today’s politics while tweeting the fake Nancy Pelosi video. Cheney ignored the question, and instead decided to litigate the former FBI official Peter Strzok and attorney Lisa Page saga again.

A day after pro-Trump actors Kristy Swanson and Dean Cain retweeted what Swanson described as a “death threat” over their involvement in writer-producer Phelim McAleer’s planned performance piece FBI Lovebirds: UnderCovers, McAleer is using the tweets for fundraising.

President Donald Trump is planning a party, and you’re invited if you happen to be in Washington, DC on July 4.
The event, “A Salute to America,” will take place at the Lincoln memorial and feature fireworks, entertainment and a speech by President Trump. It’s not the major military parade once envisioned, and it remains to be seen who beyond Lee Greenwood may perform. But there are a few months left to recruit, and judging from Trump’s rising poll numbers, there may be a surprise or two.
Also saluted this morning are North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, who will meet with Trump in Hanoi this week, and China President Xi, who is being helpful in trade talks and with North Korea, according to the optimistic tweetstorm.
The one thing missing so far from the communications: no Oscars predictions.

Although President Donald Trump signed a bill Friday to reopen the federal government for three weeks — ending by far the longest government shutdown in U.S. history — he’s not backing down from his demand that Congress give him $5.7 billion to build a border wall.
Trump got off to a busy start Saturday on Twitter, and reminded the nation that there could be another shutdown soon, because “21 days goes very quickly.” Just ask those federal employees who missed two paycheks during the past month.
He added that his border wall is needed “for national security” but admitted it won’t be easy negotiating with Democratic leaders. Perhaps he’s hoping his slogan “build a wall & crime will fall” will help. Hey, the singsong catchphrase worked for Johnnie Cochran.
The wall wasn’t the only topic on Trump’s mind. He also voiced support for his indicted former adviser Roger Stone,...

It’s been a busy day for President Donald Trump on Twitter. All alone in the White House (or so he claimed) and waiting to hear from “Cryin’ Chuck and Nancy” about getting together, there was a lot of time to review the state of the union, past and present enemies, and an upcoming television appearance.
The Commander-in-Tweet started his day with a review of “the failing New York Times” story on the FBI and its plans to look into him concerning Russia, which, ironically, resulted in it discovering no connection.
He labeled former FBI director James Comey as “Lyin’ James Comey,” using a theme and variation on the prior “Leakin’ James Comey.” He also used the term “total sleaze” in describing the former FBI chief, saying it was “a great day for America” when he finally fired him.
That was the warm-up. Trump then turned his attention to Bob Mueller’s investigation,...

Continuing his recent media jihad on Twitter, President Donald Trump today attacked NBC and its comedy program Saturday Night Live as a “Democrat spin machine” in his morning online broadsides, and issued a call for a court test of the limits of free speech.
The tweet followed SNL‘s Christmas episode last night, which opened with It’s a Wonderful Trump, an It’s a Wonderful Life spoof imagining an America in which Trump was never president and where everyone is happier.
“A Real scandal is the one-sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?”
The President was just warming up, though. The tweetstorm questioned where the missing text messages were from former FBI agent Peter Strzok...

It’s already a busy Saturday online for President Donald Trump. There’s a cabinet change and a roundup of the usual suspects going on, and it’s not even noon in Washington, DC.
The Commander-in-Tweet’s online day started at 6:14, with the announcement that Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke would be leaving the administration by the end of the year. The move was not unexpected, as Zinke has been under fire. The President followed up with a tweet promising to name Zinke’s successor next week.
The second big tweet of the day came a few minutes later, when the President took out the hammer against his eternal nemesis, the press. Having already played Grinch by cancelling the White House Christmas party, the President was irate at the continuing flow of bad press, which he claimed was focused on the wrong story, not the Real story on “Russia,...

President Trump awoke Friday morning once again displeased with the state of Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into his campaign’s relationship with Russia. In what may have been his most full-throated condemnation of the probe and those involved yet, the president structured his early-morning tirade around the absurd question of whether Mueller plans to disclose his “conflicts of interest” when he files his final report. Name-checked were Mueller; Leakin’ Lyin’ James Comey; Andrew Weissman, a prosecutor on Mueller’s team; Crooked Hillary; “conflicted” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein; Department of Justice...

President Trump may have a hard time focusing on a host of issues relevant to running the world’s most powerful nation, but there’s one topic from which his attention never deviates: the Russia investigation. His tweets about the subject have increased dramatically as former confidants like Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort have reportedly offered to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Not even the anniversary of 9/11 prevented Trump from rousing himself out of bed to complain about the investigation, and his rants continued last week as Hurricane Florence...

Updated with additional information: President Donald Trump exacted revenge on former CIA director John Brennan this afternoon, announcing he had revoked Brennan’s security clearance and warning there is plenty more where that came from.
The thunderbolt comes one day after Brennan scolded Trump for his tweet calling Omarosa a “dog” as the latest example of Trump’s failure to “live up to minimum standards of decency, civility & probity.” He told Trump his behavior is “so dangerous for our Nation”:
It’s astounding how often you fail to live up to minimum standards of decency, civility, & probity. Seems like you will never understand what it means to be president, nor what it takes to be a good, decent, & honest person. So disheartening, so dangerous for our Nation. https://t.co/eI9HaCec1m

Washington — President Donald Trump is revoking the security clearance of former CIA director John Brennan, who has been critical of Trump in TV appearances and on Twitter.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, reading a statement from Trump, said Brennan engaged in “erratic conduct and behavior” and “has a history that calls into question his objectivity and credibility.” The statement also cited Brennan’s “wild outbursts” online and on TV about the administration and his “increasingly frenzied commentary.” Brennan is senior national security and intelligence analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.
She announced that security clearances for other former officials, including Susan Rice, James Clapper and Sally Yates, are under review. All are former Obama administration officials, but Sanders contended that they “politicized” and “in some cases monetized” their clearances. Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who texted his antipathy toward then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and last month riveted TV viewers when his testimony before a House Judiciary Committee turned contentious and very personal, has been fired from the bureau.
A senior counterintelligence agent, Strzok was fired Friday, though news of the dismissal was made public by his lawyer today.
No reason was given for the firing, but President Donald Trump took the occasion to once again call the Robert Mueller investigation into Russian election tampering a “total Hoax.”
In a tweet today, Trump said Strzok “was in charge of the Witch Hunt.”
“Agent Peter Strzok was just fired from the FBI – finally,” Trump tweeted. “The list of bad players in the FBI & Doj gets longer & longer. Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax.

Updated: Just one day into the trial of his former campaign chief Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to demand Attorney General Jeff Sessions immediately pull the plug on Robert Mueller’s Russian election-tamper probe.
“This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further,” Trump tweeted before Day 2 of Manafort’s trial got underway. “Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to the USA!”
Sessions, of course, recused himself from the Russia election probe, and Manafort is on trial for business dealings not directly related to Mueller’s Russia probe. Trump, however, connects the dots, via Twitter. This as the White House works hard to impress upon the press the distinction between the Russia election tamper probe and the Manafort trial.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham wasn’t a fan of Peter Strzok’s testimony on Capitol Hill, Thursday, telling viewers on her program that many of the jabs and barbs thrown at him didn’t land during the nine-hour session.
“I have to say that I was looking forward to this,” said Ingraham. “But I thought at times it wasn’t working for the Republicans.”
In particular, Ingraham criticized Texas Gop Rep. Louie Gohmert, who asked Strzok about his affair with FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

President Trump hasn’t let a jam-packed European trip distract him from what’s really important: Discrediting the Russia investigation. Since touching down in Brussels on Tuesday, Trump has continued to tweet about the “Rigged Witch Hunt,” focusing his ire on FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, the “lovers” who were revealed to have exchanged texts critical of Trump during the 2016 campaign. The president has long cited the texts as proof that the investigation, which Strzok played a pivotal role in, was politically motivated.

Washington — The Justice Department’s inspector general released an exhaustive report on the FBI’s handling of an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, finding no evidence that prosecutors were “affected by bias,” but faulting director James Comey in the way he handled public pronouncements about the probe.
Likely to get the most attention by President Donald Trump and his allies are revelations of further text message exchanges between FBI official Peter Strzok — who worked on the Clinton e-mail investigation and, for a time, the probe of possible collusion between Russia sources and the Trump campaign — and FBI lawyer Lisa Page.
Page wrote a text message in August of 2016, asking, Trump’s “not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Strozk responded, “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.”
