Helldivers 2 has been a remarkable success, with millions of players playing the game and fighting for democracy against the Terminids and Automatons. The game has received rave reviews from fans and critics alike and has been praised for several things, including avoiding microtransactions.
The fight for democracy is well underway, with Helldivers taking on aliens, but it turns out they’re not alone because Marvel’s Spider-Man has also been confirmed to be in the game. But there’s a catch, as it’s not Spider-Man exactly, but the popular voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, who voices in the game.

Batman: The Long Halloween has been embraced as a superb Batman tale, a solid mystery story, and a superlative effort from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. It has remained in print since its arrival in 1996-97. Warner Animation tackled this in 2021, releasing it in two parts, which I liked when I reviewed them here and here.
The parts have now been sewn together into a far more satisfying single volume, upgraded to 4k Ultra HD, which incrementally enhances the overall enjoyment.
The 13-part story is set early in Batman’s career, with Loeb plumbing the Gotham underworld as established by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli in Batman: Year One. Interfering in Carmine “The Roman” Falcone’s (Titus Welliver) gang operations is the arrival of the Holiday Killer. Tracking him with little effect over the course of a year are Batman (Jensen Ackles) and his grudging allies Captain James Gordon...

"Beauty and the Beast" truly is a tale as old as time, and has been retold in countless ways, like the Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton TV series of the same name, the Fran Drescher comedy "The Beautician and the Beast," the teen rom-drama "Beastly," or even in an episode of "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater." Recently, legendary Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda delivered "Belle," a magnificent animated sci-fi fantasy film that thrusts the tale out of the world of old and into the techno future.
The story takes place in the not-so-distant future where the internet has evolved into a legitimate virtual reality called U, where avatars are created by users' scanned biometric information. A teenager named Suzu creates an avatar named Belle who becomes a pop superstar, but everything changes when her virtual concert is interrupted by the seemingly undefeatable fighter The Dragon (or "The Beast"), who she quickly becomes infatuated with.

Warner Animation has been more miss than hit when adapting long comic book serials into a 90 minute or less feature film. Thankfully, they finally learned the lesson and are adapting Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s thirteen-part Batman: The Long Halloween into two films. The first part is out tomorrow and I am quite pleased with it.
The overarching plot has to do with the serial murders of people connected to crime boss Carmine Falcone (Titus Welliver) as the triumvirate of Commissioner Gordon (Billy Burke), District Attorney Harvey Dent (Josh Duhamel), and Batman (Jensen Ackles) all occurring on holidays. The hunt of the Holiday killer propels events as each attempt to thwart the next killing fails, leaving the good guys reeling and Falcone scared.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment dropped a new trailer for “Lego DC Super-Villains” during San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday and it showcases some of the various ways players can customize their personal baddie.
“Lego DC Super-Villains” Is the first Lego game to put comic book bad guys front and center. It’s set in a version of the DC universe where villains have disguised themselves as wannabe superheroes called the “Justice Syndicate.” It will be up to a rookie villain (the player) and members of the Injustice League to uncover the group’s true intentions and foil them.
Although the game features Lego versions of iconic DC villains like the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Lex Luthor, the player character is the focus of the story. The trailer sets up the story premise (with some helpful voiceover from Harley Quinn) and offers a glimpse at some of the character customization options. Players...

The trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay was designed to make it look like a 1970-s grindhouse film, which could have been an interesting take on the team. What we get instead, isn’t exactly that, and while set within the new DC Animated Universe canon is off in a corner, nor is it particularly good or bad. Out this week from Warner Home Entertainment, the 86-minute feature is most certainly not for children.
There’s a gritty realism to the constant violence and betrayal among the villains seen in this movie, written by Alan Burnett, who certainly knows the characters well. He adapts them from the comics, making adjustments for his needs, so it’s not exactly like their four-color counterparts or as we’ve seen them in other animated fare. There’s certainly a high body count, starting early with the quick dispatching of Tobias Whale (Dave Fennoy...

The first trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay has arrived, and it looks promising. That used to be something you wouldn't have to say about DC Animated Features, but they've been spotty as of late in my personal opinion so all I can say here is the trailer looks pretty damn good. The lineup of heroes is better than the live-action film, Tara Strong is voicing Harley, and the violence doesn't appear to be limited as Quinn just smacked the head off that frozen guy! Let's just hope Vandal Savage is more interesting this time around than he was in Legends of Tomorrow. Christian Slater also stars in the film as Deadshot!

Ok, so not everyone liked the Suicide Squad live-action movie (although on the scale of superhero movies it’s easily one of the better Dceu films), well now DC and Warner Bros. are making amends, sort of, with a brand new animated movie based on the misfit task force: Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay finds Amanda Waller’s top secret Task Force X,’ Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead, on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they’re willing to risk their own lives to steal it. But the Suicide Squad isn’t the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. The race is on for the golden prize … and, to stay alive, second place isn’t an option.

While we’re all awaiting the awesomeness that’s sure to be Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, it certainly never hurts to look ahead at whatever other DC animated movies the fine folks over at Warner Bros. Animation are cooking up. After all, this line of films has a reputation for having far more hits than misses.
So, instead of twiddling our thumbs waiting for the silver screen’s iteration of Task Force X to suit up for their next mission, we should be looking forward to something that we can sink our teeth into far sooner. You see, the next one up is that of Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, an original story that obviously draws generous inspiration from New 52 and Rebirth era comic books.
Originally announced last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, word regarding this project has been mum as to not take the spotlight off the aforementioned Gotham by Gaslight,...

Lost amid the hubbub over the animated series based on the traditional DC Comics was The Zeta Project, a fun spinoff from Warner Animation’s first original creation, Batman Beyond. Thanks to Warner Archives the two season series, spanning 2001-2002, is being released on DVD.
The series is focused on Zeta (Diedrich Bader), formally known as Infiltration Unit Zeta, a synthoid, who works for the Nsa. The machine was introduced in the season two Batman Beyond episode “Zeta,” written by Robert Goodman, who developed the spinoff.
He violates his programming when he is asked to kill an innocent and goes on the run, vowing never to kill again. Of course, the Nsa wants him back and sends a team, led by the clichéd obsessive, Agent James Bennett (the well-cast Kurtwood Smith), convinced Brother’s Day, the terrorists reprogrammed the agency’s machine. 12.00 Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 When I was the Saturday morning cartoon watching age the big attractions were the animated series of Spider-man, X-men and Batman. These were all classics. Of these three I still hold Batman: The Animated Series above for having writing that elevated it from mere children's programming to good, smart entertainment. I still watch the show on DVD to this day. By the time Batman Beyond rolled around I was long gone from the Saturday morning phase and probably saw one or two episodes at most. It was good, but nothing I was willing to plant myself down for on a regular basis.
A few years later I tuned back in to see what kids were watching on Saturday mornings and I came across The Zeta Project. At the time I was turned off by the sappy writing and "fluffy" animation style. The...
