DC’s The Flash Starring Ezra Miller Was Released In 2023 But Flopped At The Box Office ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
One of DC’s most ambitious projects was one of their worst box office failures. The Flash was an astounding failure despite its much-hyped status. The movie was clouded by the scandal of its lead, Ezra Miller, but its net profit suffered because of everything’s storyline. After a year, the movie emerged as the second most significant failure of 2023 and lost considerable money.
There was a lot of anticipation about The Flash, especially with the rumors of a Michael Keaton cameo. However, the movie’s public suffered after lead star Ezra Miller was arrested for heinous allegations. Still, die-hard fans of the franchise showed up, but it wasn’t enough. After years of production issues, the movie persevered to eventually hit theaters despite the controversies surrounding its lead actor and...

Winston Duke emerged as one of the standouts of both Black Panther movies thanks to his memorable take on M'Baku, and by all accounts, the actor is also a major highlight of The Fall Guy.
Duke has yet to establish himself as a Hollywood leading man, but all it takes is the right role, and the actor has set his sights on what will likely be the most sought-after part in Hollywood down the line.
During an interview with /Film, Duke was asked about the possibility of suiting up as The Dark Knight in the upcoming Dcu Batman reboot, The Brave and the Bold, after previously voicing Bruce Wayne in the Batman Unburied podcast.
"Listen, man, can you start that [campaign]? [Laughs] I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman.

Spoiler alert: As much as Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt remain the undeniable draws of "The Fall Guy," there are multiple contenders in the cast for the sought-after crown of "Best Scene Stealer." You have Aaron Taylor-Johnson, an inspired bit of casting as the insufferable A-lister casting a long shadow over Gosling's stuntman Colt Seavers. Then there's the great Hannah Waddingham, chewing up the scenery (and then some) as the no-nonsense producer Gail Meyer who stops at nothing to keep the show on the road. Heck, you could even go with either of the two dogs that portrayed Jean Claude, the Australian Kelpie that only responds to French commands and takes on an unforgettable supporting role amid all the action.
But more than anyone else, it's Winston Duke who walks away with one of his funniest and most memorable performances in recent years as Dan Tucker, a veteran stunt coordinator...

As soon as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over Dceu and rebooted it into Dcu we knew we were going to get a new Batman movie, ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ The biggest question on everyone’s mind is however, who is going to take over the role of Bruce Wayne, as it’s one of the most iconic roles aspiring actors can play in the genre.
Several names come to mind as favorite fan castings, most notably Alan Ritchson, who voiced his desire to play the character several times, quite loudly, and Jensen Ackles.
Jensen Ackles was picked for the most recent fan-made concept trailer to don the mantle of the Dark Knight alongside Timothee Chalamet as Robin. Ackles already voices the character in ‘Tomorowverse’ and he expressed his wish to play the live-action version of the character as well. The trailer shows how two popular actors could...

Back in 2023, Warner Bros. were gearing up for the release of one of the last movies to come out of the Dceu. The Flash, starring Ezra Miller in the lead, and directed by Andy Muschetti, had a lot hanging on its shoulders. The movie was supposed to be the vessel to reboot the Dceu to give way for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Dcu.
A still from The Flash (2023)
Though fans weren’t sold on Ezra Miller’s involvement after their various scandals came to light, the reviews coming from the who’s who of Hollywood had them holding on to hope. From Tom Cruise to Stephen King, many celebrities came in defense of the movie, lauding it as one of the best superhero movies ever made. Unfortunately, the movie’s reception was not what anyone had hoped, and The Flash ended up being one ofe the worst features from Dceu.

As Netflix’s new film chief, Dan Lin’s mandate is to focus on quality — and quantity.
Netflix’s co-ceo Ted Sarandos shed light on Lin’s strategy as the producer takes over film duties from Scott Stuber, who announced in January he was leaving the streamer.
“There is no appetite to make fewer films, but there is an unlimited appetite to make better films, always,” Sarandos said during the company’s Q1 earnings call. “Even though we have made, and we are making, great films. We want to make them better, of course.”
He was responding to a recent New York Times article, which reported that Lin aims to “improve the quality of the movies and produce a wider spectrum of films — at different budget levels — the better to appeal to the varied interests of Netflix’s 260 million subscribers.”

Netflix’s film division is being reorganized under new film chief Dan Lin.
While about 15 staffers are being let go, the reorganization does not represent a reduction in force — Lin will replace the departing executives in the coming weeks as part of his new vision for his group, which will now be split up by genre.
Included in that new regime are Ori Marmur, who will oversee action, fantasy, horror and sci-fi, Kira Goldberg, who will handle dramas, thrillers and family films, Niija Kuykendall on faith-based, holiday and young adult projects, and Jason Young overseeing comedies and rom-coms.
Lin only took his desk at the streamer a week ago, but has had nearly a month to ponder what the operation should look like. He was named as the streaming behemoth’s new film head in February, replacing Scott Stuber and reporting to chief content officer Bela Bajaria.

The roster of directors aboard the DC universe projects being overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran is growing. According to Deadline, I, Tonya/Cruella director Craig Gillespie is now nailing down the finer points of a deal to direct Supergirl.
While it has yet to be officially confirmed – these days, that often tends to be via James Gunn on social media, and at time of writing he hasn't mentioned it – Gillespie is surely a good shout to handle the movie, which will star House Of The Dragon's Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin. We're promised a harder-edged Kara than in the recent TV series; this take on the character was raised on a barren rock chipped from the destroyed Krypton, who sees everyone around her die before reaching Earth.

It’s up, up and away for director Craig Gillespie, who is in talks to helm Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The filmmaker joins James Gunn (Superman) and Andy Muschietti (the Batman feature The Brave and the Bold) among the filmmakers building out the slate of projects for DC Studios, the Warner Bros. division led by Gunn and Peter Safran.
With Gillespie, DC gains a tried and true helmer known for putting a grounded yet stylish spin on projects such as Disney’s Cruella, the skating drama I, Tonya and TV’s Pam & Tommy. He was last in theaters with the GameStop movie Dumb Money.
Supergirl stars House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock, who will play Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman. The feature is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic and will depart from the earnest take on the character audiences may know from the CW Supergirl series.

For a short bit there, it seemed like Ezra Miller’s career was going to be torpedoed thanks to numerous controversies. Yet, Miller managed to stay on board The Flash. Ok, so that was yet another flop for DC but it showed there was still (some) support for Miller within the industry in one way or another. But now, it might truly be over, as Invincible, has quietly removed Miller from the series. The actor had been previously cast as D.A. Sinclair. So where does that leave the troubled star?
While Ezra Miller voiced the mad scientist with a penchant for turning people into obedient cyborgian zombie soldiers called “Reanimen” in the first season, Eric Bauza has now taken over the role. Miller only voiced the character in one episode (“You Look Kinda Dead”) so it’s really not that big of a loss for Invincible. But it does...

In 2023, some 30 years after he last donned the cape and cowl, Michael Keaton stepped back into the Batsuit for "The Flash." Keaton defined the character for me and a whole generation of kids who grew up on Tim Burton's infectiously moody takes on the Dark Knight with "Batman" and "Batman Returns." Although "The Flash" was a box office bomb of super-heroic proportions, seeing Keaton back in the suit was a thrill that gave my inner six-year-old a nostalgic jolt unlike any other.
For Keaton himself, it seems wearing the iconic costume for the first time after so long was just as moving an experience. "The Flash" director Andy Muschietti recalled how the "Birdman" star appeared to be having an emotional reaction to being in the suit when he first set foot on set and even wanted pictures to show his grandson that he was Batman.

Though The Flash wasn’t the commercial success that Warner Brothers Discovery hoped it would be, Muschietti has a good track record for mainstream films. However, it’ll be some time before James Gunn’s Batman finally makes an appearance as all eyes are currently on Superman: Legacy. The opportunity to do something fresh and unique with the masked hero makes James Gunn’s Batman so exciting. There are many incarnations of Batman, including Matt Reeves’

Jake Gyllenhaal was a serious contender to play Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, but it appears losing the role to Christian Bale never impacted Gyllenhaal’s desire to play Batman on the big screen. Making the press rounds in support of his new Prime Video action movie “Road House,” Gyllenhaal was asked by Screen Rant if he was still interested in playing Batman.
“Oh, man. That’s a classic [role]. It’s an honor,” Gyllenhaal answered. “Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past … When I think about it, I’m going to play Iago in ‘Othello’ with Denzel Washington, and I think about like the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I’m intimidated by that. So that’s the first level. That’s what I’m working on right now. But of course. It would be an honor always.

This article contains spoilers for "It" and "The Mist."
Stephen King has long been criticized — usually playfully — for his inability to conjure satisfying endings to his ambitious horror tales. This criticism is so widespread that King himself has goofed on it: in Andy Muschietti's 2019 film "It Chapter Two," based on King's 1986 super-novel, James McAvoy plays an author who also notoriously can't finish his stories well. King makes a cameo appearance as a cantankerous thrift shop owner ... who says to McAvoy's face that his endings suck.
Perhaps fittingly, the ending of King's original "It" also sucks. It involves the main characters, all adults, confronting a giant spider monster in a sewer by burrowing into its body and crushing its heart. This confrontation was paralleled by a scene of the same characters as 12-year-olds fleeing the same monster years earlier. King fans will cringe to tell you what happened in the...

Take down the Bat-signal for now, Bat-fans. Because Matt Reeves’ follow-up to The Batman has been, erm… Bat-delayed? For a while now, the sequel has been expected to hit our screens in late 2025 – bringing Robert Pattinson back in the cowl as Bruce Wayne, continuing his more detective-focused take on the Dark Knight. But thanks to a reshuffle at Warner Bros, The Batman Part II officially has a new date – and it’s moved back by a whole year.
Per the new schedule, The Batman Part II is now expected to hit cinemas on 2 October 2026 – meaning the sequel will finally arrive four-and-a-half years after the first film. In the meantime, fans can content themselves with the arrival of tie-in Max series The Penguin, bringing the return of Colin Farrell’s gangster as he attempts to consolidate power in Gotham. It’ll be another year before the Dark Knight returns. The Batman Part II, the sequel to Matt Reeves’ first bat-film starring Robert Pattinson, has been given a new release date of October 2nd, 2026.
The delay pushes the anticipated followup back from its original October 3rd, 2025 target by a full year. DC Studios insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that the delay is a result of last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, both of which ended in the fall.
The shift is one of many on Warner Bros.’s calendar. The Bride!, which sees Maggie Gyllenhaal directing former Batman Christian Bale, will take The Batman Part II’s original October 3rd, 2025 date. Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled project set to star Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Ragina Hall is set for August 8th, 2025, while Barry Levinson’s gangster movie Alto Nights has moved from November 24th this year to March 21st next.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 is no longer opening on October 3, 2025 — a new launchpad for comic book movies. Instead, it is going a year later on October, 2, 2026. We hear the new date is due to the aftermath of the dual strikes.
The spacing also will give some distance from James Gunn’s Superman, which is hitting cinemas on July 11, 2025. That film will kick off Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Studios, the first phase titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Reeves’ Batman is not part of the Gunn universe, but it’s all kosher to co-exist. Gunn has another Batman movie in the works, Batman: Brave and the Bold, with Andy Muschietti directing. Robert Pattinson plays Batman in Reeves’ universe. The role will be recast for Muschietti’s film.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito had a “Twins” reunion at the Oscars as they joined forces to present best visual effects to “Godzilla Minus One” and best film editing to “Oppenheimer.” But it was their jokes about Batman that stole the show and had the Oscars audience uproariously laughing.
“Arnold and I are presenting tonight together for a very obvious reason,” DeVito said.
“We’ve both tried to kill Batman!” Schwarzenegger revealed to applause.
DeVito played the Penguin in Tim Burton’s “Batman Returns,” where he faced off against Michael Keaton’s Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman. Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, faced off against George Clooney’s Batman as the villainous Mr. Freeze in the critical flop “Batman and Robin.” At the Oscars, Schwarzenegger said that his villain was defeated after Batman “used my one weakness against me,” which was Mr. Freeze’s love for his deceased wife.
“Oh. He threw me out a window!

Exclusive: Sony has preemptively closed a deal for film rights to Grady Hendrix’s short story “Ankle Snatcher,” tapping Hendrix to adapt it for the screen, sources tell Deadline. Hendrix is also set to produce alongside Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Tony Shaw, as well as Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm.
The first short story Hendrix has taken to market, after setting up numerous novels and original screenplays for adaptation, “Ankle Snatcher” was released in September 2023 as part of Amazon Original Stories’ Creature Feature collection comprised of six original stories written by New York Times bestselling authors, the others being Joe Hill, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker.
Hendrix’s story follows Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother — then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed. Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you.

Dan Lin has been appointed as Netflix’s new head of film.
He’ll replace Scott Stuber, who previously announced he’d be stepping down from the streaming behemoth in March. Lin’s name had been in the mix — along with recently departed Disney executive Sean Bailey, former Universal chief Stacey Snider and others — since the top film job opened in January.
Lin is best known for producing the “Lego” film franchise, director Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel “It,” and Disney’s “Aladdin” remake through his production company Rideback. He and Netflix previously worked together on “The Two Popes” and the live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series. He will begin on April 1 and report to Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer.

Ezra Miller has been a topic of criticism for a long time, but this time, fans are united as his portrayal of the Flash has been despised by the fans and critics alike. Even in his standalone film in 2023, fans were left dissatisfied with his portrayal of the character as Barry Allen is showcased as a charming and witty character. However, Miller lacks that depth, and following his controversies, DC fans would often nitpick intricate details that would undermine his portrayal.
Ezra Miller as Barry Allen
The DC fans have had enough and begged James Gunn to replace Ezra Miller with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in his rebooted Dcu. The actor has built a dedicated fan base with his portrayal of The Flash in the TV Series of the same name as they could not watch Miller ruining the popularity of the character.

Upon its release last year, The Flash became one of the biggest mishaps in DC history, whose performance summed up the struggling state of the Dceu that finally ended with Aquaman 2. But while The Flash became a disaster for Wbd, which failed to break even, prior to its release, many Hollywood biggies claimed that it was the next big thing in CBMs, including Dcu head James Gunn.
Although many speculated that it was some sort of marketing strategy from Wbd’s side, surprisingly Gunn and Co. gave The Flash director Andy Muschietti the keys to Dcu’s Batman. And while many were in doubt, whether it was still the case or not following The Flash‘s failure, it seems Gunn is still putting faith in the It director to do the Caped Crusader justice.

Although it seemed like the Dceu was down for the count after the theatrical release of Justice League in 2017, the universe found more solid footing in several films afterward. However, one thread they didn’t get to pick up on was the tease of Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke in the post-credits scene in which Jesse Eisenberg returned as Lex Luthor and proposed a league of their own. The Dceu has officially concluded with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and James Gunn’s reign with his Dcu will be kickstarting with Superman: Legacy.
However, ComicBook.com reveals that Manganiello now has a new opportunity to continue his Slade Wilson incarnation despite the Dceu being dissolved. When Affleck’s in-universe version of The Batman fell through, in which Deathstroke was set to appear as the main antagonist, Manganiello wrote his own Deathstroke screenplay, which reportedly was well-received at Warner Bros. before the big studio shake-up.

We might see the battle for superhero supremacy hitting the top. James Gunn, the architect of DC’s revamped cinematic universe, has most probably set his sights on a powerful duo to challenge Kevin Feige’s MCU dominance. Gunn’s strategic move to tap into the visionary duo’s talents signifies a potential game-changer, as he seeks to infuse the Dcu with fresh energy and innovation.

Reports are circulating that the poor reception to last year’s The Flash have ended Andy Muschietti’s time directing Batman: The Brave And The Bold.
We don’t know a lot about the Batman in James Gunn’s all-new DC Universe, but we do know a couple of things.
Firstly, the Dark Knight that inhabits the new cinematic universe will be accompanied by Robin, the Boy Wonder. The teen sidekick behind the mask is said to be Damian Wayne, Batman’s own son. Apart from a few easter eggs sometimes, the character of Robin hasn’t really featured in Batman’s cinematic adventures, with the exception of 1997’s Batman & Robin, a film which wasn’t received especially well.

The Brave and the Bold will introduce the new Dark Knight of the Dcu, and fans have some strong opinions on who that should be. One popular choice to take on the role of Batman is none other than Reacher‘s Alan Ritchson, and the actor responded to the interest while speaking on BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast.

In 2017, director Andy Muschietti helmed "It Chapter One," adapted from the first half of Stephen King's massive horror tome, which had previously only been seen as a 1990 television miniseries starring Tim Curry as the terrifying Pennywise the Clown. Somewhat to the surprise of production company Warner Bros., it was not just a hit, but a huge box office phenomenon that blew financial projections out of the water. Although "It Chapter Two," released in 2019, couldn't match the critical or box office success of the first film, the franchise is nonetheless regarded as one of the most creatively ambitious adaptations of King's horror novels.
On the surface, "It" doesn't seem like it would need a tremendous amount of special effects work. The wildly unnerving story revolves around an evil clown murdering children in suburban Maine, which might require some extensive makeup but little else. That is, however, before you begin to...

After ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ the DC Universe (Dcu) officially assumed control from the Dceu, placing iconic comic characters under the guidance of Safran and Gunn. Although the animated show ‘Creature Commandos’ is intended to inaugurate the Dcu, the live-action dimension commences with the release of ‘Superman: Legacy,’ identified by Safran and Gunn as the true starting point of the Dceu. Other confirmed projects include ‘The Authority,’ centered on the eponymous team, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ featuring Milly Alcock as Dcu’s Supergirl, and ‘Paradise Lost,’ a TV series delving into Wonder Woman-themed narratives on Themyscira.
Despite casting major roles like Superman, Lois Lane, and Supergirl, the live-action Batman in the Dcu remains unknown. According to Charles Murphy, the next significant role the studio is set to cast is that of the Caped Crusader, with a casting call anticipated to be released “very soon.”

What are the highest grossing horror movies of all time? More specifically, what are the highest grossing horror franchises of all time? On the list of the Top 20, only Five franchises in the history of the genre have crossed the $1 billion mark. Can you guess which ones?
Franchises including The Purge, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Final Destination, The Exorcist, Insidious and Halloween are some of the biggest of all time, but even they haven’t yet been able to crack that massive billion dollar milestone. The Flash Stands Tall Against Titanic In Opening Weekend At The North American Box Office (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Dceu officially ended with Jason Momoa-led Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and it wasn’t a memorable farewell as the film failed to replicate the success of its predecessor. William Wyler ("Ben-Hur") did 40 takes; Robert Bresson ("Pickpocket") insisted on simple movements and monotone line deliveries; Italian Neorealists cast people off the street; Robert Altman ("Nashville") let actors improvise; Andrei Tarkovsky ("Solaris") kept them in the dark about how the story would end.
When it comes to horror, the quest becomes even more daunting: How do you convince viewers that the people they're seeing on screen are genuinely disturbed and terrified, while also securing enough distance between actors and characters to keep the shoot sustainable? Some films have attempted to split the difference by instilling genuine scares, discomfort, and emotional distress on their actors. Others assembled their respective violent scenarios to within an inch of their lives, placing performers into circumstances that were...

As mentioned in last week’s preview, the month of January is probably going to be a bit quieter with not that many big movies, as theatergoers mainly will be catching up on holiday and Oscar fare. We do have one new wide release this weekend, though. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse and James Wan‘s Atomic Monster had such a huge hit when Universal released their horror film “M3GAN” the first week of January in 2023, that the same team has reunited for this weekend’s new high-concept entry, “Night Swim.”
Starring Wyatt Russell (“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”) and Oscar nominee Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin”), the film involves a family buying a new suburban home with a swimming pool that seems to have healing properties, but only at first. After a few days, the family realizes that there’s something...

Brad Silberling's 1998 romance "City of Angels," a remake of Wim Wenders' indispensable 1987 film "Wings of Desire," stars Nicolas Cage as an immortal angel named Seth who gently breezes around Los Angeles, unseen by the people who live there. He appears to people only when they die, accompanying them to the afterworld. Observing humans as if they are an ineffable alien species, Seth becomes particularly enamored of an ambitious and compassionate young doctor named Maggie Rice. Seth finds that he might be experiencing love for the first time, and becomes visible to Dr. Rice, courting her and asking her deep questions about what it means to be human. Seth eventually chooses to transform into a human, sacrificing his immortality in order to be with his beloved.
What both Wenders and Silberling communicate with aplomb is how inhuman angels are. They live among humans but only interact when the humans die.
