You may know Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone for their hilarious onscreen moments, like the semi-awkward yet chuckle-worthy sex scene that played during the ending credits of Bridesmaids (you know, the one that involved a gigantic sandwich). Oh, and let's not forget the time Ben made a cameo in The Heat for a quick bar makeout session with Melissa's character, Shannon Mullins. But there's way more to Ben and Melissa than what's been captured for the movies. The dynamic duo met during improv school in 1998 and tied the knot in 2005. Since then, they've welcomed two daughters into the world and have enjoyed an 11-year marriage that we have to imagine has been filled with plenty of laughs. Read on to witness the sweet evolution of their relationship. Related19 Funny Couples Who Know That Nothing's Sexier Than a Sense of Humor...

The Heat is a brilliant move at getting people into theaters, and the best part of that statement is that by “people,” I mean women (and those they’ll bring with them). It’s a brilliant move because the movie industry is trying like hell to put off the death of theaters, and they are changing their game in a variety of ways as desperation sets in.
For decades, we’ve known how and where to go for half-baked “pulls.” For men, we put Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, or giant robots in a film, and release a trailer that offers little in the way of plot description, and a lot of explosions. For women, we pick a hot guy and have a woman cry in the trailer. Of course, there are variants. We might have a really stupid comedy involving a bunch of guys who are probably stoned, and a scantily-clad babe on the poster…...

To mark the release of The Heat on DVD and Blu-ray 25th November, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on Blu-ray.
The heat is on when uptight and ambitious FBI Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side, Miss Congeniality) is sent to Boston to uncover the identity of an elusive drug lord, Mr. Larkin. Struggling to maintain the respect of her colleagues, Ashburn also finds herself pitted against foul-mouthed, anti-social Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy – Identity Thief, Bridesmaids). With more balls then most men and a Subway in each pocket Mullins is determined to stay on the case at any cost even if it means working with ‘tattle tits’ Ashburn. In the most hysterical buddy movie of the year it really is a case of good cop / mad cop.

Though there has been talk of a follow-up to cop comedy The Heat, especially from director Paul Feig, forward motion has apparently been slowed by Sandra Bullock’s reluctance to star in a sequel. Feig, however, seems undeterred in his quest to find some way to continue the film's world, and has announced a spin-off that would follow Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chafin’s characters Beth and Gina.Introduced as part of the extended family belonging to Melissa McCarthy’s Shannon Mullins, Beth and Gina proceeded to steal scenes and generally behave badly. The actresses have an existing professional relationship with Feig, who directed the pair’s pilot for comedy characters Ronna & Beverly, and clearly thinks they’re worth sticking with. “Jamie and Jessica are two of the funniest people on this planet,” Feig said in a statement that ran on Deadline. “They took small roles in The Heat and...

America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock continued her reign as Hollywood royalty this year as the two films she top-lined (cop comedy The Heat and space drama Gravity) were both met with huge box office numbers and critical acclaim. So, while the ending to Gravity left little room for a sequel, it should come as no surprise that 20th Century Fox is interested in pursuing a follow-up to The Heat.
Bullock previously expressed her reluctance to reprise the role of Special Agent Sarah Ashburn in a second installment, likely due to her dubious track record with sequels (see: Speed 2: Cruise Control and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous). One would think that a film’s star publicly dismissing the idea of a follow-up would kill talk of a sequel, but it would seem that the conversation is not over yet.

Following up something as heartily loved as Bridesmaids can hardly have been the easiest prospect, but director Paul Feig scored another comedy hit with The Heat, the edgy and hilarious comedy, which is release to Blu-Ray and DVD on 25th November.
The heat is on when uptight and ambitious FBI Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is sent to work a case in Boston, colliding with foul-mouthed anti-social Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Meliss a McCarthy) in the process. Paired together but with contradictory ethics, the duo must find a way to get along whilst unravelling a drug case that means so much to both of them. Don’t miss out on the hottest comedy of the year.

Chicago – There are a few major comedies on New Releases shelves this week along with some interesting, smaller films and one of the most anticipated TV shows of 2013. Paul Feig’s mega-comedy proved that star power can go a long way in overcoming the relative shortcomings of a pretty mediocre script. The Heat Blu-Ray is available, and I’ve got a copy for you.
It may be safe to say that Sandra Bullock is having the best year ever, certainly the best month, with Gravity in theaters, and The Heat available for home viewing. This one made quite the splash earlier this year, and critics can’t say enough good things about Gravity (well, I’m not quite as sold on it).
You do have to love this one though, even if only for the sake of the female buddy cop picture hitting theaters so hard.
If you know Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), you may have a good idea what’s in store with this one (if you haven’t seen it already), but to tell the truth, much like the case with Bridesmaids, I’m not sure the trailers did this one justice. There’s more going on here than just...

"The Heat" is blazing onto DVD and Blu-ray October 15, and to celebrate, we have an exclusive deleted scene to share with you!
Warning: The scene is near the end of the movie, so the following does contain some spoilers.
Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) comforts her hospitalized brother, Jason (Michael Rapaport) as he recovers from a coma induced by the men of drug lord Adam Larkin (Taran Killam). If you're up for crop top-related humor and Melissa McCarthy, you'll want to put your money on this one.
The scene is much quieter and low-key than the rest of the movie's incredibly fast-paced ending sequence (I mean, this comes shortly after a character is taken down via a gunshot to the balls), so it's not a stretch to guess why it didn't make the final cut. Still, McCarthy's brilliant deadpan delivery shines, making for a funny scene regardless.

Arriving unrated and with more than two hours of bonus features, The Heat is set to bring the laughs to DVD and Blu-ray October 15th from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Oscar Winner Sandra Bullock and Oscar Nominee Melissa McCarthy are a “dynamite duo” (George Pennacchio, Kabc-tv) in this outrageously funny comedy from the director of Bridesmaids, Paul Feig. Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) couldn't be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected...buddies. Following up his critical and box-office hit Bridesmaids, director Paul Feig has returned with another comedy, which despite the gender of said director, many have referred to again as a ‘female comedy’. Penned by debut feature writer Katie Dippold, and led by Sandra Bullock and Feig’s breakout Bridesmaids star, Melissa McCarthy, the humour in the film is certainly driven by that trio of very talented comedic women. But we don’t call The Hangover, for example, a ‘male comedy’, and if we’re approaching a point where we won’t define female-driven comedy by gender any more, it will be precisely because of movies like Bridesmaids and The Heat. And in that case, we’re going to need a more apt descriptor for them. So fine, call The Heat a ‘female comedy’ for now if we must, but let’s make sure we push that other f-word to the fore.

Exceeding everyone’s expectations for it over the weekend, Paul Feig’s latest comedy hit The Heat opened to just shy of $40m. in the Us, playing very strong against Disney’s holdover winner, Monsters University.
The film’s box office run is now running at north of $50m., and is sure to continue to do very well in the coming days and weeks. With its UK release still on the horizon at the end of the month, Fox have released a new clip from the buddy cop movie.
Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter.

The Heat Synopsis: Can by-the-book FBI agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) work with local detective Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) to take down a drug lord? Think Bad Boys meets Bridesmaids. The $40 million earned by "The Heat" during its opening weekend wasn't just a victory for funny women -- the financial windfall also represented a win for Boston. Only last summer's "Ted" had a bigger debut among movies set in the Massachusetts state capital.
To think it almost didn't happen. Written by Katie Dippold, "The Heat" was originally set in New York, but the production moved to Massachusetts for tax reasons.
"I was like, 'Let's set it in Boston and have fun with that,'" director Paul Feig told HuffPost Entertainment. For Feig, that meant putting a specific focus on the family of Boston cop Shannon Mullins (played by Melissa McCarthy).
"That was one of the funniest elements of Katie's script," Feig said. "When I was reading it, I felt all I could do was fuck it up by not casting it right. I was really kind of tense about how to do it.

As Boston P.D. detective Shannon Mullins in The Heat, Melissa McCarthy is good at police work, and even better at hurling profanity-spattered insults. Who knew there were so many different ways to suggest that you are going to pull off someone's body part and stuff it in another body part? We jotted down all of her major threats (ignoring generic "fuck-you"s) so you can memorize them and use them when your wordier Veep-spawned insults get too exhausting. (Spoilers for those who like their four-letter-worded dialogue to be a surprise.)“I hope it burns your fucking dick off.” “I’m gonna make you bend over, and then I am going to reach up into your pocket and get the keys to your house and then I am gonna drive over and kill you in your sleep.” “I’ve been thinking of ways to kill you for the last half hour.

Hoping to nab a drug lord (and get a promotion) FBI agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) heads to Boston to take a bite of crime. As a student of evidence and motive, Ashburn is the best at working a crime scene—and she never lets anyone forget it. Police officer Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), on the other hand, is so brash, foul-mouthed and uncouth that everyone in her precinct loathes her—and fears her. Director Paul Feig reteams with his Bridesmaids star delivering the first-female driven take on the classic buddy-cop formula that ruled the '80s. The resulting explosions of one-liners, car chases, and undercover silliness forge McCarthy into a new breed of lethal weapon. By the second act, Bullock...

The Heat
Directed by Paul Feig
Written by Katie Dippold
USA, 2013
Melissa McCarthy is at a precipice in her career, at a point where audiences can embrace or reject her for her fierce, intimidating comic presence. Earlier this year, as one of the stars of Identity Thief, a grotesque and toxic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles rip-off, she came off as unpleasant because her character was so cruel and obnoxious that an eventual predictable emotional redemption felt false and unearned. The joy of her Oscar-nominated performance in Bridesmaids was not meanness, but an unexpected, gruff charm, compounded by the fact that she was, in every way, playing a supporting character, not the lead. So her new film The Heat, which she headlines with Sandra Bullock, is a major test. Is she funny and off-kilter as a lead, or best utilized in small doses?
The answer is the former, mostly. Although its first act is fairly spotty,...

This year moviegoers finally felt the full force of a star that went supernova two years ago…a major comedy star named Melissa McCarthy. She had accumulated small roles in film and TV, but the surprise Summer smash of 2011, Bridesmaids, made everyone take notice, even Oscar (she was a Best Supporting Actress nominee), when she stole almost every scene. Since then Ms. McCarthy’s kept busy doing a CBS sitcom named “Mike and Molly” (and has nabbed an Emmy) and last Winter she had an all too brief cameo in This Is 40 (you have to stick around for the end credits which included several unused takes that are a wonder of improvisation). But now we’re finally getting her in showcase movie lead roles (besides a very funny cameo in the otherwise dreary recent The Hangover III). This past February she co-starred with Jason Bateman in the surprise box...

It's a weird feeling, watching a comedy and everyone around you is laughing much more than you are. Fortunately, The Heat isn't one of those comedies I felt any measure of overwhelming displeasure for, but I'm at a loss as to what was making everyone laugh so hard. When you describe a scene in which Melissa McCarthy stops a drug dealer from running away by hitting him in the back with a watermelon I guess it sounds a little funnier than it seemed while watching it, but is watermelon tossing really that funnyc The Heat serves as the female answer to Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's The Other Guys, putting a gender twist on the buddy cop formula so familiarly found in the '80s with films such as 48 Hours and Lethal Weapon. Are you ready for "The Heat"? Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy put the pedal to the metal in this action-filled comedy from "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig.
Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is an FBI agent with a great professional track record -- and she won't let anyone forget it. Her boss sends her to Boston to head an investigation of a local drug lord, in conjunction with the local police; if she manages to snag the baddies and not alienate everyone she works with, she could get a big promotion.
Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) is the local detective working with Ashburn. The stakes are especially high for Mullins, because her brother Jason (Michael Rapaport) might be returning to his old drug-dealing ways now that he's out of prison. And guess who put him there? Mullins is one tough cookie. She's got a veritable arsenal in her refrigerator at home, a mouth like a drunken sailor,...

The movies hitting theaters this weekend are must-sees for those who protect, serve, and like to laugh.
The comedy "The Heat" and action-thriller "White House Down" both open this Friday, and feature cops on two very different beats.
"White House Down," starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, follows Capitol Police officer John Cale (Tatum), who has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service. While on a White House tour with his daughter, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is attacked by a heavily strapped paramilitary group. To ensure that the government isn't destroyed from the inside-out, Cale takes the country's -- and the President's (Foxx) -- safety into his own hands. Roland Emmerich's latest thrill-fest has been drawing comparisons to another White House terrorism-centric movie released earlier this year, "Olympus Has Fallen," and we're excited to see which one will ultimately come out on top with audiences.

I'm not very excited about Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock's buddy cop movie The Heat, but this Mondo commissioned poster created by The Dude Designs is actually kind of cool. I'm still not going to pay any money to see the movie though. Here's what director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) had to say about the poster in a statement:
"I am a huge fan of the work Mondo does so I was really pushing for them to do a poster for 'The Heat,' When they sent me their take I cracked up as they really nailed it."
Here's what the artist said:
"'The Heat' poster was an exciting design to take on. Galvanized by the awesome power of VHS cover art I set to work creating the ultimate 80s action buddy cop visual, drawing out the humor in an explosion of over the top action."

Paul Feig is a long way from his days playing small roles in TV shows like "Dirty Dancing" and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch." The "Bridesmaids" director and creator of "Freaks and Geeks" is now a singular force in Hollywood, serving up majorly funny (and majorly successful) comedies that are slowly convincing studios to give female audiences a break.
Feig's latest movie, "The Heat," stars Sandra Bullock as an FBI agent and Melissa McCarthy as her street detective foil. Though it's the filmmaker's first foray into action, there's still plenty of room for hilarity between Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) and Shannon Mullins (McCarthy).
We caught up with Feig the day of the movie's New York premiere, where he graciously spoke about his love of female comedies and why Hollywood has been stubborn about making more. He also dished about his upcoming female James Bond flick, "Susan Cooper."

There's plenty to love about writer-director-actor Paul Feig.
He's the guy behind short-lived but fiercely beloved "Freaks and Geeks" (R.I.P.) for one and he also gave us one of the most raucously funny and properly R-rated comedies in the last few years with Bridesmaids (2011), daring to show women behaving badly and being hilarious while doing it.
He's back this weekend with The Heat, his take on the buddy cop comedy, swapping out male bravado for the rivalry between two female cops: by-the-books special agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Detective Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), whose different styles clash almost immediately when they are forced to work together to bring down the bad guys.
We had the chance to sit down with Feig for a 1-on-1 talk about his guns-and-gals comedy, his influences and what he likes about funny people in danger.

Paul Feig’s The Heat hits theatres this weekend in the Us, and with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy leading the cast, things are looking pretty good for the comedy-actioner.
Feig’s last feature, Bridesmaids, was of course a huge hit for all involved, earning two Oscar nominations along with almost $300m. at the box office.
After catching the gala featurette for the film last week, Fox have released a new red-band clip, in which we get to see Bullock and McCarthy working together to get themselves out of a pretty sticky situation. And, as you can expect, this one earns its red-band rating and then some.
Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her...

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy play polar opposites in "The Heat," but it was clear at the movie's premiere in New York that the ladies are two very funny peas-in-a-pod off-screen.
The duo celebrated their buddy-cop comedy last night, June 23, at the Ziegfeld Theater, along with co-star Marlon Wayans and director Paul Feig, posing for pictures and hugging each other on the red carpet.
Bullock lived up the movie's name and looked hot in a black leather dress equipped with peek-a-boo cutouts. McCarthy looked chic in navy blue pants and matching blouse, accessorized with cute, strappy heels.
In "The Heat," Bullock plays uptight FBI special agent Sarah Ashburn who is paired with testy Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) in order to take down a ruthless drug lord. The problem? Neither woman has ever had a partner, let alone one they can't stand.
Check out photos of the premiere below. "The Heat...

Having found tremendous success with a female ensemble in 2011’s Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids, Paul Feig returns this year with another female-led blockbuster, The Heat.
This time around, we’re in for some action alongside the comedy, with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy taking the lead in the buddy cop movie.
The film recently had its red carpet premiere on our shores in the UK, and now Fox have released a new gala featurette for those of us unable to get down to London last week.

Following the brilliant success of his 2011 comedy, Bridesmaids, which was nominated for two Oscars, Paul Feig returns to the big screen this summer with The Heat.
The crime-comedy sees Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy starring in the leading roles, with Feig reuniting with McCarthy, who earned of the two Oscar nods for Bridesmaids. And after catching a new clip and two UK posters for the film last week, Fox have released another new clip, this time rather red-band in nature, so unsuitable viewing for work.

Obviously there’s nothing new about Paul Feig’s “The Heat”. It’s a pretty well-tread formula: two polar opposite cops (played by Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy) meet up, hate each other’s guts, but eventually come to respect one another and by film’s end, become friends. Been there, done that. Of course, most of those other movies were with guys. This one is with girls, with Bullock as the stuck-up/by-the-book cop and McCarthy as the foul-mouthed, street-smart cop. But then you gotta figure that that was the only way it would work, right? Can you imagine McCarthy in Bullock’s role? Not gonna work. Anyhoo. Check out two clips from “The Heat”. The first clip goes after the easy Boston accent (it’s weird, apparently), while the second clip has McCarthy going on a foul-mouthed rant that’s definitely Red Band. Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent...
