Peter is actress Helen Mirren's good luck charm in that he wrote The Queen (2006), for which she won her first Best Actress Oscar, and the play "The Audience" (2015), for which she won her first Tony Award.
Began his writing career when he was head-hunted to write training videos on the strength of a student play (co-written with Mark Wadlow) he had staged at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Ranked #28 in the 2008 Telegraph's list "the 100 most powerful people in British culture".
He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2016 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to drama. He is a screenwriter and playwright.
