Bobby Moore was one of the most famous English football players. From
1958 to 1971 he played for West Ham United football club. He played 108
times for the English national team, of which he was captain from 1964
to 1973. He won the World Cup with England in 1966 and was awarded an
O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). Moore retired in
the 1977, after six seasons with Fulham F.C. He died in 1993 due to
bowel cancer. The whole country mourned for him.

He was the captain of the England Soccer team that won the World Cup in
1966.
Charter member of the International Soccer Hall of Fame.
Besides West Ham United, he played for the following clubs: Fulham, San
Antonio Thunder (NASL) and Seattle Sounders (NASL).
In 1966 he became the first footballer to win the BBC Sports
Personality of the Year award.
He was detained for questioning by the Colombian authorities over the false accusation of theft of a £625 diamond and emerald bracelet on the eve of England's opening World Cup clash in 1970.
