Co-directors Dominic Brunt and Jamie Lundy open their film on a moment of familial bliss, as a mother enjoys time on the beach with her two young children, Evie and Tony. As she leaves to put on dinner at their nearby home, she asks the children to not stay long on the beach. Her departure is followed by foreboding shots of the water and creepy whispering before the inquisitive Evie vanishes for a bit. She returns drastically changed, now reacting with violence and acting possessively over a strange item she found. Her altered self leaves the family shattered, as they are unable to cope with the young girl’s actions.

I am always very much excited when the film-making duo Dominic Brunt and Joanne Mitchell have a new film coming out. They have proved themselves again and again when it comes to horror and the variety of ways they can creep audiences out. From the often subtle but great zombie movie Before Dawn, to the at times brutal revenge thriller Bait to the bizarre but brilliant Attack of the Killer Babies. Next up, they tackle the werewolf subgenre with Scream of the Wolf.
Scream of the Wolf shows a new vampire movie being shot in an old abandoned house but with a full moon in the sky some of the cast and crew go missing and a wolf seems like the most obvious culprit.

Joanne Mitchell has racked up more than thirty screen acting credits over the course of a career that goes back thirty years – and Deadline reports that she is now making her feature directorial debut with a psychological horror film called Sybil! Filming is underway in Belgrade, with Rebecca Calder (Wrath of Man) starring alongside James Fleet (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Sacharissa Claxton (Sandman), Rupert Proctor (Notting Hill), Robyn Rainsford (Letters to April), and Jay Taylor (Red Tails).
Mitchell crafted the story for Sybil with Tracey Sheals, and even directed a 12 minute short version of the concept a few years ago. Dominic Brunt (the 2021 thriller Evie) has written the screenplay for the feature version of Sybil, which will be a twisted tale of a lonely mortician and her macabre quest for the perfect family. The Mortician’s life can be a lonely one. But there are always opportunities for love and revenge.

Zomblogalypse began life as a series of fifteen-minute episodes that ran on YouTube from 2008 to 2011. The tale of Miles (Miles Watts), Tony (Tony Hipwell) and Hannah (Hannah Bungard) three survivors blogging their way through the zombie apocalypse developed a cult following. The trio moved on to other projects before coming back to launching the feature version of Zomblogalypse in 2018.
After ten years of dodging zombies, Miles, Tony and Hannah are bored. Very, very, bored. Even a botched outing to find supplies doesn’t dispel that feeling for long. So what can they do to pass the time? Find any other survivors in the area, and make a movie about surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Attack Of The Adult Babies
Powerful politicians and businessmen crawling around in nappies. A small army of nurses in skimpy uniforms, overseen by dominatrices. Hapless thieves forced to break into a house where they really don’t want to be. Few horror comedies lay it on quite as thick as Attack Of The Adult Babies, and few make such a lasting impression on the viewer. For Coronation Street alumna Joanne Mitchell, who co-wrote, produced and starred in this frenetic satire, it was a welcome opportunity to cut loose and have fun with themes that are usually strictly off-limits. We asked her how it all began.
“We were actually filming our second movie at the time, which was called Bait, and I don’t know how it came about, we must have all been talking and then Dominic (Brunt), my husband, thought about this title and he said ‘Attack Of The...

If there’s one thing that Horror teaches us, it’s that Royalty, the Aristocracy, the Captains of Industry, the rich and powerful generally, are not like the rest of us. They are vampires or lizards; they prey on us, or hunt us for sport; they indulge in grotesque, shapeshifting, “shunting” orgies; they go canvasing for Parliament on Scottish Council Estates with their Nannies in tow… They are freaks and perverts, sadists and degenerates. And there is nothing they cannot get away with; or so it seems.
But maybe things are about to change. The horrible freaks are about to get… exposed, once and for all, in Grimmfest 2017‘s closing film, the Northern Premiere of… Attack of the Adult Babies
When two teenagers are forced to break into a remote country manor to steal Top Secret documents, they uncover a sinister world of sexual depravity and monstrous ambition, where powerful...

Adult Babies gets an exclusive reveal at Horror Channel FrightFest Glasgow 2017, in anticipation of the event, actress / producer Joanne Mitchell – star of Before Dawn and Bait; and creator of Adult Babies – answers 10 scary questions…
When did your fascination for horror films begin?
I’ve been interested in horror since being a young kid. I liked to be frightened, whether it be reading a scary book, or watching one of the Hammer House of Horrors. But it wasn’t until my 30’s that I really became fascinated with the whole genre after making ‘Before Dawn’ and watching back to back movies at FrightFest!! The fans are so loyal and open minded and really know their stuff.
What was the first horror film you saw?
I’m pretty sure it was ‘The Thing’. If I remember rightly my brother and his mates had managed to get a copy and I snuck in!

★☆☆☆☆ Of all its numerous misdemeanours, the most heinous that Dominic Brunt's vile Bait (2014) commits is its attempt to convince you that it isn't the grim, misogynistic horror that it ultimately turns out to be. Its two female protagonists, Bex (Victoria Smurfit) and Dawn (Joanne Mitchell), begin the film as feisty, independently-minded individuals, running their own market stall selling organic tea and cakes and attempting to secure a loan to expand into a shop. They're well-drawn and smartly acted at first, with realistic lives and realistic aspirations that don't involve men and it initially feels refreshing to see a home-grown genre flick that seems rooted in the lives of women.
Sadly, the idea that they might be resourceful and capable enough to handle whatever a horror film might throw at them soon dissipates when they meet Jeremy (Jonathan Slinger), a sneering loan shark who begins extorting them, threatening them with...

A woman in her bra covered in blood? Tick. But director Dominic Brunt’s vicious thriller is more convincing than you’d expect, with characters of genuine depth
This impressively vicious thriller directed by Dominic Brunt (who played Paddy Kirk in Emmerdale for years) looks at first like straight-up exploitation nonsense with its opening shots of a bra-clad Joanne Mitchell covered in blood screaming in a bathroom as Victoria Smurfit (also gore-smeared and in her undies) climbs the stairs with a knife. But as the narrative rolls back to show how we got to this place, Bait reveals itself to be smarter and subtler than the usual genre workout. The two women, it turns out, are best friends who run a cake stall in a market and get suckered into making a deal with Jonathan Slinger’s exquisitely evil loan shark. You know he has to be vile early on...

White Settlers is the new film from West Midlands born director Simeon Halligan (Splintered); which begins with an English couple, Ed (Lee Williams) and Sarah (Pollyanna McIntosh), who are making a change in their life, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city to move to the quiet and quaint Scottish countryside, buying a worn-out yet workable house for a good price with plans to renovate it in their own time. They move in and on their first night begin to hear noises, while in bed, coming from downstairs. Their inspections initially find nothing more than an open door but we soon find that Ed and Sarah’s home is being invaded by a number of pig-mask wearing Scottish men. When Ed goes missing, Sarah attempts to escape the assailants and find her husband,...

UK thriller White Settlers is heading to Cannes, and Notanumber Productions have unveiled their international sales poster for the film, which will be screened to prospective distributors on May 16th.
White Settlers, directed by the Grimmfest film festival's head honcho Simeon Halligan, is a tense, nightmarish tale of a couple who escape from the fast-paced life of London to live in a remote cottage in Scotland. But, as they soon find out, they are far from welcome.
Written by Ian Fenton and starring Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman) and Lee Williams ("The Tudors") with a supporting appearance by Joanne Mitchell (Before Dawn), the film will be sold internationally by Metrodome.
An assured follow-up to Halligan's previous Brit horror Splintered, this new film should go down really well when it hits the festival circuit later this year.
Director Halligan said when providing us with the artwork, "Here's the first look at the...
