Donald Trump, in one of his first major acts as a lame duck president, has fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper.
The president said Monday that he has named Christopher Miller, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, as his acting replacement.
“I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately…..Chris will do a Great job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.”

Trump’s action signaled potentially months of turmoil during the presidential transition period, with other administration figures, including FBI director Christopher Wray and even Attorney General William Barr, reportedly cited as the source of the president’s unhappiness.

Director Jon M. Chu recently revealed that he had to back out of "Masters of the Universe," the He-Man franchise reboot at Universal Pictures, back in October due to his "G.I. Joe 3" commitments.
Now, Schmoes Know has published an apparent short list of potential directors that the studio has reportedly compiled. The names on that list include:
Rian Johnson ("Looper"), Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block"), Andres Muschietti ("Mama"), Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("21 Jump Street") and Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders ("The Croods").
This live-action film version of the toy line and animated series follows the warrior He-Man, the last hope for the magical land of Eternia which has been ravaged by the evil Skeletor.
At last report, scribe Terry Rossio ("The Lone Ranger") came onboard the project late last year to pen a new draft of the script.

A couple weeks ago, Jon M. Chu explained that he left the project due to his commitment to the third live-action G.I. Joe film, which he will be directing for Paramount. Now, the website, schmoesknow.com, is reporting that their source has a list of directors that are in the running for the gig, and a few will certainly surprise. Take a look. The names are pretty stellar in the Sci-Fi world and are as follows: Joe Cornish (Attack The Block), Rian Johnson (Looper), Andy Muschietti (Mama), Kirk DeMicco & Chris Sanders (The Croods) and Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street).
