Friends, family and Hollywood figures gathered Sunday to pay tribute to Eddie Michaels at funeral services held at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles. The 49-year-old publicity executive, who died Thursday after a battle with brain cancer, was remembered as a professional who gave wise counsel to clients, a lifelong Angeleno who loved the Dodgers and Bruce Springsteen, but, above all else, a family man who treasured his time with his wife, Lorin, and two young children, 9-year-old daughter Dylan and 7-year-old son Matthew. One of the premier PR men of his generation, Eddie Michaels, succumbed last night in his lengthy battle with brain cancer and died at age 49. Michaels was surrounded at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by a coterie of industry friends, clients, his wife Lorin and his children, 7-year-old Matthew and 11-year-old daughter Dylan. To see a good guy go so young is heartbreaking to me today. I met Eddie when I had just moved over from Weekly Variety to Daily Variety. I was the Long Island kid who had upset the order of things by breaking film stories that were ordinarily the domain of L.A.-based trade reporters. He called me, riled about some story I’d broken on Allen and Albert Hughes, who didn’t want the details on a project out there because it was not at the studio where they’d made an overall deal, or at least...

The Producers Guild of America was sued Wednesday by its former membership director who claims he was wrongfully terminated after telling an outside investigator he witnessed the guild's executive director make "sexually charged comments" about a former employee.
Grant Stoner claims in the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that PGA executive director Vance Van Petten made comments about a former female employee as well as Stoner's wife, who had just given birth.
Stoner claims Van Petten called the former employee a "ho" and commented on his wife's breast milk at a staff meeting.
According to the lawsuit, Stoner claims he was fired not long after he spoke with an investigator looking into allegations of sexual harassment by Van Petten.
PGA spokesman Eddie Michaels said the guild had not seen the lawsuit and has no comment.
Stoner claims the firing has caused him to suffer emotional distress. He seeks unspecified damages, including for lost salary.
