A day after a gunman killed four journalists and a sales assistant at the Capital Gazette’s office in Annapolis, a social media campaign is urging people to show their support by subscribing to the newspaper.
The campaign has attracted the attention of several high-profile figures, including former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who said that he would be subscribing and called on others to do the same.
“Some days, I don’t agree with the media. Some days, they are a fantastic sparring partner. But every day, journalists are strong allies of our democracy, shining a light into darkness,” Schwarzenegger wrote on Friday afternoon. “My heart goes out to everyone at @capgaznews. Join me in subscribing.”

CNN aired an interview with survivors of the Annapolis newsroom shooting on “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday evening, without censoring the f-word.
Anderson Cooper warned viewers that the emotional taped interview with Capital Gazette staff writers Phil Davis and Selene San Felice “contained strong language.”
The writers described the way the attack played out, with San Felice explaining how she witnessed her colleague John McNamara get shot. Cooper asked her if she remembered hearing anything and she said the only thing she remembered hearing besides the gunshots was McNamara saying, “What the f—.”
San Felice also used the f-word when describing her response to President Donald Trump’s tweet that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families: “Thanks for your prayers, but I couldn’t give a f— about them if there’s nothing else,” she said.
At least five people are dead and two more are injured...

You Axed for it, as Forry would say: the grade Z horror movie that launched a thousand bad puns is also an unbeatable party favorite. Idiotic island natives clash with condescending Anglo scientists, when a death curse initiates the hell- spawning of a horrifying, vengeance-seeking pagan demon-monster. Sounds great — but what we get is Tabonga, a walking rubber tree stump with knotholes for eyes and a permanent scowl on its teakwood face. The excellent, flawless scan allows us to appreciate the mighty Tabonga for what it is — absurd, lovable, awful.
