Hans Christian Andersen is one of the most famous authors of all time, and people worldwide have enjoyed his classic tales for centuries. He has written numerous stories, including The Little Mermaid, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and The Ugly Duckling. His stories have been adapted into movies, plays, musicals, and more by Disney, among others.

Many TV specials from our childhood, like Rankin/Bass’ Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1966), were based on popular Christmas songs. In 1974, Rankin/Bass produced yet another popular Christmas special, The Year Without a Santa Claus, based loosely on Phyllis McGinley’s 1956 book of the same name.
