The only major studio tentpole in official selection at next month’s Cannes Film Festival, Solo: A Star Wars Story is also bound to be the Riviera event’s hottest ticket. Disney today dropped another look at the Ron Howard-directed origins story that traces the beginnings of smuggler, ace pilot and charming scoundrel, Han Solo. Alden Ehrenreich plays Han, who in the “Crew” clip above meets Wookie Chewbacca for the first time.
Deadline broke the news earlier this month that the movie will world premiere in Cannes. It’s got an out of competition Special Screening and will bow at the Palais before it begins global release on May 23 overseas and May 25 domestically. The major studios have scaled back somewhat on showy — and pricey — Cannes premieres in recent years, but the stars aligned timing-wise on this one which should give a nice jolt to the proceedings.

“I have a really good feeling about this,” says Alden Ehrenreich as the titular space smuggler in the newest trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The new look at the Star Wars spin-off comes in the wake of the announcement that it will make its global premiere at Cannes on May 25 — news that Deadline broke last week.
As opposed to the first teaser, the new trailer gives us more to chew on when it comes to the story. Of course, it gives us the space swag of Han Solo in the early days of his smuggling career, but it also gives us more of the other characters played by Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton, and, of course, Donald Glover who plays fan-favorite Lando Calrissian.
Giving off some Western vibes, it feels like Solo is clearly going to be a heist film. This is tipped off when...

Coming as somewhat of a surprise this morning, Disney/Lucasfilm has revealed the official title for Star Wars: Episode VIII, giving fans a title treatment/teaser poster to enjoy as well.

We recently detailed the process through which Industrial Light and Magic recreated Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) and a young Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but a new video from ABC's Nightline has now provided a behind-the-scenes look at the amazing work that went into recreating the likenesses of the two actors. While the reception to the the computer generated faces (notably Tarkin's) have been mixed, there's no doubt that some great effort and attention to detail went into making them a reality! Be sure to watch the video and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Attention Star Wars fans: Felicity Jones and Daisy Ridley are not the same person! In a special public service announcement made through MTV's After Hours with Josh Horowitz, the star of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story humorously aims to make it clear that despite their dark hair, British accents and roles in Star Wars films, her and Ridley (who plays protagonist Rey in The Force Awakens), in fact, different people. The actress also makes sure to - once again - debunk the unrelenting theory that her character, Jyn Erso, and Rey are somehow related. Check out the funny PSA below! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Mads Mikkelsen's exact role in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was shrouded in mystery for quite a while, until it was revealed that he'd actually be playing the father of Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso, and would be instrumental in the construction of the dreaded Death Star. Because details on his character were kept under wraps for so long, Galen Erso was absent from the film's early promotion, but now he's finally been given his own poster courtesy of Star Wars Italia. Do you think Galen will have a substantial role to play in story? Just two weeks to go folks. We don't have very long to wait until Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters, and that means the TV spots and promos are starting to pour in. Many reuse a lot of the same footage of course, but this one does contain a few news shots and snippets of dialogue. Chirrut seems very confident that the force is keeping him safe, but it doesn't hurt to have a friend with a big-ass gun watching your back either. Empire's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story subscribers cover doesn't give us news looks at any of the characters from the film, but it does feature the thing they're striving so hard to gain possession of. Have a look, and see if you can spot the exhaust port Luke bullseyes at the end of A New Hope. As is always the case when a big release approaches, we need to be prepared for an onslaught of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story content over the next few weeks. This latest TV spot doesn't give too much away, however, and only features a few new snippets of footage. Plus, the guys over at StarWarsNews.net have taken note of the movie's official rating: PG-13 (obviously) for "extended sequences of sci-fi violence and action." Most likely nothing too extreme of course, but we can probably expect Rogue One to be quite a bit more intense that The Force Awakens anyway. Following the recent international trailers, we have these new TV promos for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and they feature even more new footage from the movie. Perhaps the coolest new shot sees one-time Imperial enforcer droid K-2So (Alan Tudyk) go back to his roots and take out a gang of Stormtroopers. Other droids in the saga (General Grievous aside) haven't really played an active role in battle, so it'll be interesting to see Kaytoo get into the thick of it with his Rebel team-mates.
