Writer Paul Mayhew-Archer has penned comedy drama But When We Dance based on his own experience of Parkinson’s. Here are the details:
Work has finally started on veteran comedy writer Paul Mayhew-Archer’s next project: But When We Dance, a feature length drama which was meant to go into production for the BBC over three years ago, but the pandemic threw the schedule into chaos.
Johnny Campbell is on board to direct from Mayhew-Archer’s script, while the BBC is currently finalising the cast.
The story “centres on two people with lots in common: a great sense of humour, a love of dance, and Parkinson’s,” according to Deadline.
Mayhew-Archer is probably best known for co-writing every episode of The Vicar Of Dibley with Richard Curtis. He has worked behind the scenes in BBC comedy since the 1980s, script editing shows as diverse as Steven Moffat’s Chalk to...

Jeremy Paxman took part in his first ever ballet class as part of his documentary looking into his life with Parkinson’s disease.
The former Newsnight presenter announced in 2021 that he was being treated for the condition. It was recently revealed that he was diagnosed after his doctor noticed him behaving differently on University Challenge.
On Tuesday (4 October), Paxman explored the condition in his one-off ITV documentary Paxman: Putting Up With Parkinson’s.
As part of the special, Paxman took part in a class for people with the condition ran by the English National Ballet.
Studies have shown that dance increases “fluency of movement and builds confidence” in people living with Parkinson’s.
Paxman was shown taking part in the seated and standing exercises while looking embarrassed
Asked if he’d enjoyed the class, Paxman said: “I did enjoy it, I enjoyed it very much. thought it’d be very embarrassing and it was.

From James Bond to Willy Wonka, Matilda to The Witches, we chart the big screen work of Roald Dahl...
Roald Dahl has often been referred to as one of the greatest storytellers for children in the 20th century. His books have delighted children for generations, with their dark and inventive sense of humour and their eccentric, dastardly adult characters.
Likewise, his written work for adults has just as much wit and creativity, and over the years, he also worked as a screenwriter on a number of projects, including TV work on Alfred Hitchcock Presents and his own anthology series, Roald Dahl's Tales Of The Unexpected.
Given how it doesn't even take the likes of J.K. Rowling and Stephanie Meyer five years to have their popular works adapted by Hollywood, there has inevitably been an extensive crossover between Dahl's written work and the big screen. His work...
