Ridley Scott casts doubt on a new Alien film, suggesting that the beasts' time may nearly be up...
Ridley Scott was given the choice of directing follow-ups to one of two of his films a year or two back. He opted to continue the story he’d been telling in Prometheus with Alien: Covenant. In turn, that meant that he couldn’t direct Blade Runner 2049 himself, and that job went to Denis Villeneuve instead.

Delayed sequels have the unfortunate tendency of resolving the ambiguities that otherwise made the original films so appealing. Blade Runner: 2049 is one such film that could very well solve one of cinema’s greatest questions, for better or for worse.
When the original cut of Blade Runner was released in theaters on June 25th, 1982, it did so without a dream-like sequence depicting a unicorn. That sequence was later introduced in a director's’ cut and has increased speculation regarding the true identity of the film’s main character, Rick Deckard. Deckard is a law enforcement officer whose job it is to track down and capture rogue human-like androids (or replicants). The unicorn sequence seemingly ties together several plot elements from the film in a way that has caused many viewers to question whether or not Deckard is actually a replicant himself. With the new sequel ready to hit theaters later this week,...

“Blade Runner 2049” is gearing up for release on October 6, and with it comes 35 years of expectations and anticipation from die-hard fans of Ridley Scott’s iconic original. The director has assembled an enviable cast and crew, which combines franchise stalwarts and newcomers alike. If Villeneuve can stay true to the original atmosphere while crafting a unique adventure, he should have no problem making “Blade Runner 2049” just as much of a sci-fi classic for this generation as “Blade Runner” was for the last.
Here’s everything you need to know about the sequel before seeing it.

The media keeps throwing around the term "superhero fatigue" left and right, as if they want the genre to fail. But, why should it? Movies from Marvel Studios, DC, and Fox are still performing great, as fans clamor to watch sequels featuring the return of favorite characters and new solo-films that introduce new heroes on a yearly basis. In the process, superhero films have evolved into a number of different genres; just look at Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Deadpool and Logan for evidence. Besides, for the number of superhero films released a year there are dozens of spy thrillers, action comedies, and more young adult novel adaptations then you can count. Westerns ruled Hollywood for decades, with far more released a year than the current crop of superhero flicks, so why wouldn't this genre be here to stay as well?

[[tmz:video id="0_uin3zi50"]] Scott Eastwood was up to no good on his day off in Australia ... and he probably didn't even know it. The actor's in Sydney shooting "Pacific Rim" ... and on his day off Tuesday he decided to hit up Wattamolla Falls at the Royal National Park. Problem is ... it's illegal to dive from that cliff. If authorities decide to go after him, Scott may have to pay a fine ... which we're guessing won't be a problem.

Scott may not be a "lonely lord" after all. The father of three was spotted out to dinner with rumored new fling Megan Blake Irwin on Friday at Nobu in Malibu. On Saturday, Disick, 32, took Kourtney Kardashian and two of the couple's three kids - Mason, 6 and Penelope, 3 - to an Italian restaurant for what might have been an early Mother's Day celebration. Toddler Reign was not seen during the Saturday outing. Disick, who still appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians", recently bought a home in Calabasas, California, so he could be closer to his kids following his split from Kardashian.

Scott and Stiles are back on the same page in Teen Wolf's latest eventful episode, and they've a mission to accomplish...

5.15 Amplification
The wolf pack is back! Or the two werewolves, werecoyote, kitsune and human gang. But wolf pack sounds better.
Amplification unfolds like an Ocean’s Eleven heist, although with considerably more skull drilling. Dr Valack wants to amplify Lydia’s abilities, which doesn’t seem too bad in theory, but as Deaton points out, the operation could kill Lydia and potentially the rest of the town if she screamed loud enough. Thankfully, Scott has a plan. It’s good to see Stiles and Scott back on the same page, bouncing off of each other. Scott may be the leader, but Stiles is his right hand man. Director Ridley Scott makes the most of an excellent script and a first-rate star for a scintillating sci-fi trip to the red planet
Proving conclusively that it really is all about the writing, Ridley Scott’s most enjoyable film in years reassures us that the creakiness of Prometheus, the cack-handed contrivance of The Counsellor and the sheer stodginess of Exodus: Gods and Kings were genetically rooted in their respective screenplays. Scott may not have the best eye for a decent script (he thought A Good Year read like a charming Russell Crowe vehicle), but when the right words are on the page he can visualise them like no other. From the creative back and forth of Hampton Fancher and David Peoples on Blade Runner, through the genius of Callie Khouri’s Thelma and Louise screenplay, to this terrifically crowd-pleasing adaptation of Andy Weir’s book by The Cabin in the Woods creator Drew Goddard,...

Of all the well-held criticisms levelled at Ridley Scott’s Prometheus a few years back, arguably the most vocal of the bunch was the way in which the ambitious sci-fi flick raised fascinating questions of human existence and our own creation. But such mesmerizing theories were soon bogged down by clumsy characters and blockbuster action set-pieces, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the lore of the Engineers and their connection to mankind have been lost in the ether.
Upon promoting The Martian at Toronto International Film Festival, Scott touched upon the overarching story of Prometheus 2, and how he plans to tackle at least some of those lingering questions with the anticipated sequel.

It seems that the older you get, the harder it is to make friends. In your youngest years, friends would be made for you through playdates. As you hit middle school and high school, everyone is always looking for a new friend. The same is true with all the people that are met in college or a first job setting. After that, as a grown adult, it’s slim pickings. But, for the characters in The Overnight, all it takes is a chance encounter in a park for a wonderful friendship to emerge (or so it would seem).
Alex (Adam Scott) and Emily (Taylor Schilling) are new to La, having moved from Seattle with their toddler son. Alex is concerned they won’t have any friends in their new neighborhood, but after their son starts playing with another boy, his father Kurt (Jason Schwartzman) insists they come to dinner that night.

I mean how it’s possible that Ridley Scott could have made such a stodgy flick, and one that’s utterly tone-deaf to modern sensibilities. While the end of the Soloways’ stay in Montauk seemed to signal the end of the affair between Alison and Noah, last week’s episode proved that, while the two may have tried to move on by being honest with their spouses, time had not dulled the affection the two seemed to feel for each other, nor had it lessened the desire for the affair’s continuation on either side. The matriarch of the Calaveras family let Scott (Tyler Posey) and his traveling companions go with one stipulation,“When you take the bite of an innocent, when you make a wolf of your own, when you do that – I will cross your border and come knocking at your door.” Well, that sounded like an acceptable bargain at the time, until Scott was forced to make a choice on last week’s episode of Teen Wolf and decide between letting Liam die, and holding onto him, with his teeth.
As a result, the new kid at school is going to also have to deal with becoming the newest member of Scott’s pack. "Teen Wolf" Season 3 is going to kill off at least one major character before the season finale. Who is it? While that remains a mystery, here is a ranking -- including everyone from Stiles to Danny -- of the death chances for each character on the show.
Note: This list takes some liberties in defining "major" characters -- anyone recurring and important to the main plots makes the list.
17. Danny
Everyone loves him and there's nothing to be gained, plot-wise, from his death. The most popular kid in Beacon Hills should live to break more guys' hearts next season!
16. Peter
They tried to kill him once before. It didn't stick. Not much point in doing it again, is there?
15. Coach
Isn't an arrow to the stomach enough for one season?
14. Scott
Can you even have "Teen Wolf" without Scott? The title refers to him, after all. Scott may face death...

When it comes sex, guns and explosions, Sullivan Stapleton (upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire) does it all as Sgt. Damien Scott on Strike Back.
In this interview, Stapleton discusses Scott “growing up” in the new season. When we first met Scott, he slept with just about any woman he met – including one who later tried to blow him up. Then in season 2, things changed when Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) went off the rails. Scott became the voice of reason. He also found a Ptsd soul mate in Rebecca (Lyne Renee). Unfortunately, that relationship was short lived. Now, Stapleton suggests that Scott may become a woman guy – but that doesn’t mean less sex.

Much to the dismay of ladies (and lady-wolves) everywhere, ‘Teen Wolf’ hunk Tyler is off the market. Congratulations!
Scott may be having some love troubles with Allison on Teen Wolf, but in real life, Tyler Posey is lucky in love! The actor, 21, is reportedly engaged to long-time girlfriend Seana Gorlick.

The couple has been together since Tyler was 11! If that’s not the most adorable thing we’ve ever heard, we don’t know what is. He opened up to Us Weekly in June about his lady love and how he knew she was the one:

"Teen Wolf" is back for Season 3, and everything is new. New school year, new tattoos, new werewolves ... And of course there are many, many new problems.
Trouble is not ephemeral in the "Teen Wolf" world, after all.
Double your werewolf, double your fun
Season 3 begins unpleasantly for Isaac, what with the electroshock resuscitation and desperate motorcycle chase and all. The scene -- while filled with lots of action and motorcycle goodness -- is more than a little confusing.
All we know is that Isaac is in trouble, and he's being helped by a mystery girl on a motorcycle. Behind them are two super-identical and super-creepy (and, because this is "Teen Wolf," super-hot) twins. Even when Motorcycle Girl crashes through a wall of glass, the Wonder Twins stay close.
Then they somehow merge into one Incredible Hulk-like werewolf. That's bad**s.
While Isaac and Motorcycle Girl do make it alive to the hospital,...

Michael Scott may be making his final appearance on The Office’s finale this week, but David Brent is ready for a comeback.
Ricky Gervais’ original office boss character is being resurrected – and he wants to teach you guitar. Well, not teach you, exactly. You’ll be teaching yourself. But he’ll be there. Gervais-as-Brent has launched a video teaser for a new series, Learn Guitar with David Brent, which will premiere May 20 on YouTube as part of YouTube Comedy Week. As longtime fans can see, music is still Brent’s passion.

Michael Scott may have been the star of The Office, but as my friend once put it, Jim and Dwight are the lifeblood. Without them, the show would never have been successful, or at least, not as successful as it is today. Their relationship is a major part of what keeps the show together and when it’s not there, the show suffers for it.
Even though they may be buddies now, at first, they were natural enemies. Dwight’s obnoxious personality annoyed Jim (and probably the rest of the office), and Jim would find clever ways to get back at him. He would scheme some brilliant prank and set it up just for Dwight, often laughing over it with Pam in the process.
These pranks are usually the biggest source of comedy in the show. Sometimes they’re as simple as putting things in Jell-o. Other times they’re...

This is a long episode of the podcast. It sort of had to be. Consider this: Scott Swan and I met when we were in high school. We moved to Los Angeles in 1990. For much of the time since then, we have worked together daily, sometimes for up to ten or twelve hours. It is safe to say that there is no other person who I have had more conversations with other than, perhaps, my parents, and even then, I think Scott may still be the winner in terms of sheer hours logged. I'd wager that about 85% of that...

The Expendables might have won the box office but it's nothing to brag about. Sly Stallone and Co. grossed $13.5M in its second weekend but traffic at the box office was slow. In fact this past weekend was the slowest weekend of 2012 so far. The conservative documentary 2016: Obama's America did better than all of the new wide releases (Premium Rush, Hit and Run, The Apparition). 2016, which has grossed $9.6M, is now the highest-grossing conservative documentary ever.

Showrunner Jeff Davis has done his homework. Just two days after Teen Wolf wrapped up its mostly stellar sophomore season on MTV with a pretty great season finale, he’s already teasing information about the jam packed 24 episode third season (double the fun of the previous two seasons), with Zap2It. So, let’s zap to the ten things you can expect from the third season. Don’t read this if you haven’t watched Monday’s finale, or the second season, unless you’re that guy.
1. Jackson’s eyes are blue for a reason. When he changed into a werewolf, his eyes didn’t turn yellow, like most wolves’ do. They were a bright piercing blue for a very specific reason, and it’s not just because Colton Haynes‘ eyes are so pretty that the special effects team couldn’t bring themselves to change them.

This week's "Teen Wolf" Season 2 finale was an unrelenting, action-packed episode -- almost every character experienced a dramatic change of direction, whether it was in terms of their alliances, their love lives, their enemies, or their actual identity. If you're like us, you probably had plenty of questions by the time the episode ended. Luckily, showrunner Jeff Davis has got all the answers as to what to expect from Season 3.
We can't give away too many spoilers, but we did grill Davis for every bit of information we could possibly squeeze out of him. He's almost finished breaking the story for the third season and will get together with his writing team very soon to begin work on the show. Season 3 isn't set to premiere until 2013, but hopefully these 10 tidbits will help tide you over until you can dig into the real thing.

There were a lot of big summer movies this year, some of which will be getting sequels, others will not. THR recently did released an article in which they break down what movies we'll see get a sequel and what movies won't.
One of the movies that's definitely going to get a sequel is Ridley Scott's Prometheus. I think we all knew it was coming, especially after how they ended the first film. They left it wide open! But Fox officially confirmed with them that they are indeed moving forward on it, but that they aren't rushing it. Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are both signed on to reprise their roles, and they hope to release the sequel in 2014 or 2015.
The studio is currently talking to new screenwriters to take over the project because Damon Lindelof most likely won't be available. Fox president of production Emma Watts said, "Ridley...

After the big reveal of the Kanima's identity last week, Teen Wolf was able to send things into overdrive with "Frenemy," taking the audience on an action-packed adventure that ended with yet another reveal - and a whole mess of new questions.
That's how this series rolls, and it's all the better for it. There's no slowing down, whether it's the 41 minutes of air time that seems to fly by while you're watching, or the plot of each season that seems to go down avenue after avenue before allowing the fans to realize what end of arc will actually look like.
Finding out the identity of the kanima was not good enough. Scott, Stiles and the gang had to figure out some way of keeping Jackson contained, and after that didn't work the boys had to face the consequences of containing a lizard-kid in the back of a van.

Teen Wolf: Watch the First 10 Minutes of Season 2
Thanks to an increasingly loyal fanbase and widespread sharing, the second season trailer for Teen Wolf shot up in views pretty quickly. The goal in mind was five million in order to "unlock" the first 10 minutes of the season premiere and through sheer force of will, those 10 minutes have just been released.
There were many questions left lingering at the end of season one and its bloody finale. Would Allison and Scott continue seeing one another despite the threat from her family? What exactly got Lydia and what will she turn into? How would Derek's ascendance to alpha wolf impact the other wolves, particularly Scott? The first 10 minutes of the season, a sea of skin and gore, flashes to almost every main character, giving a quick look at where they're at after the hiatus and answering at least one of the questions posed.

Did an earthquake almost derail the Prometheus production? What's the Prometheus creature like? Was Ridley Scott pissed that he didn't direct Aliens? Are there plans for a Prometheus 2 already? The elusive, legendary director reveals spoilers and more in the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter, and we have a sneak peek.
Video: What is 'Prometheus'? New Viral Clip Surfaces
In theaters June 8, Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce in a story of groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
That battle involves a terrifying creature, and according to Scott it grows and changes into at least four different forms in a way that Rapace calls "every woman's...

Aside from Alien, why do so few outer space horror movies succeed artistically or financially? Ryan takes a closer look…
Mention the words, “deep space horror” and the first film that springs to mind is probably Alien and its sequels. If you wanted to earn extra film buff points, you might mention It! The Terror From Beyond Space (1958) or Planet Of The Vampires (1965), two films which inarguably provided the template for Alien’s monster-on-a-spaceship premise.
Beyond Alien, has there really been another outer space horror movie, released since 1979, that has matched it in terms of filmmaking quality or box-office success? The answer, as the following examples illustrate, is no. Alien’s sequels were, of course, a success, but they were buoyed by the reputation of Scott’s original, and it could be argued that Aliens was based more in the action genre than horror.
Most other deep space horror movies have either been low-budget,...

This afternoon the Academy revealed the seven films that will be competing for Best Makeup at this year's Oscars and I'm happy to say that not one of them is Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, though I must also say I would have liked to see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 in there as Kristen Stewart's makeup at the end of that film was particularly effective and rather gruesome. In fact, it was the film's lone standout, but oh well. I actually had all but two of the films listed on my original batch of predictions. There were, however, several I had on my long list that didn't make the cut along with J. Edgar such as Green Lantern, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, My Week with Marilyn, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, War Horse, Captain America: The First Avenger, Big Mommas: Like Father,...

He's baaack. Michael Scott may have long since upped sticks from Scranton, but Steve Carell is nevertheless set to return to prime-time next year when he makes a cameo—kind of—in another long-running comedy hit. Which show is he set to guest star on? The Simpsons! Carell joins the laundry list of funny people who've crossed yellow-faced paths with the Springfield's infamous cartoon fam. E! News has confirmed that the former Office star (and new SAG nominee!) will play Dan Gillick, a neurotically high-strung accountant for mobster Fat Tony (Joe Mantegna) who is ultimately put in charge of the illegal operation when the big boss is called to jury ...

Angelina Jolie is set to play another strong female role in her next project. THR reports that Jolie has signed on to star in Gertrude Bell, a biopic of a pioneering figure in the Middle East in the early 20th Century. Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions is producing, and Scott may direct. The project is on his list of possible films to direct after Prometheus arrives in June. The screenplay is currently being penned by Jeffrey Caine. As of now, the project does not have a studio behind it, but that will likely change soon.
Here is a little background on this person:
Bell is described as the female Lawrence of Arabia for the impact the English woman had in the Middle East and her work in establishing what would become the modern framework for Jordan and Iraq. With a passion for archeology and languages, she wrote about her...

X-Men: First Class scribes, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, are in negotiations to write a sequel to Top Gun for Paramount and Skydance Productions. Variety reports that Jerry Bruchkheimer and David Ellison are set to produce. At this time there there are no official comments form Paramount and Skydance.
As you can expect, plot details are non-existent. It is not known yet if Tony Scott or Tom Cruise will be involved in the sequel at this time. Michael Scott may not have walked away with an Emmy, but fans of "The Office" were treated to a special surprise during last night's 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards (Sept. 18).
Some interesting new faces got to sit in the infamous "Office" interview chair and reveal what they hated most about their jobs.
We saw Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) hating rapists, sex trafficking and crimes against children -- somehow we don't think this is appropriate for "The Office."
Then Even Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) from "Game of Thrones" had a complaint to file -- in his native language. "I hate how no one ever rinses the horse heart bowl," he said. Surprisingly, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) followed suit, speaking in Dothraki.
One of our favorite appearances included Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) with a special delivery for Creed (i.e. crystal meth) and Kim Kardashian saying she's unfamiliar with this term "work." Then there was Cee Lo,...

As it’s confirmed that Ridley Scott really is on board for another Blade Runner movie, we look over what we know so far…
Last Thursday, the Internet was ablaze with the news that director Ridley Scott was set to make a new Blade Runner movie. Opinion has been divided so far over whether a prequel or sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic is a good idea or not, but one thing’s now clear – the story’s far more than a rumour.
On Friday, Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove, whose company now owns the rights to Blade Runner, revealed in an interview with the La Times’ 24 Frames blog that shooting could begin as soon as 2013, with the following year a possible window for release.
According to Kosove, Alcon were willing to press ahead on a 21st century Blade Runner without Ridley Scott’s involvement, though they were understandably enthusiastic about having him aboard.

According to Kosove, Alcon were willing to press ahead on a 21st century Blade Runner without Ridley Scott’s involvement, though they were understandably enthusiastic about having him aboard.

Pleased don’t judge me but I’m still watching One Tree Hill. Any chance you can reward my loyalty with some scoop on Dan Scott’s return? — Brianna
The TV Addict: Judge, who us? Surely you jest! After-all, despite threatening to drop the show on more than one occasion, we’re still watching Desperate Housewives. Which is why we’re going to acquiesce to your request for scoop and fill you in on a little secret: Dan Scott may have actually turned over a new leaf, or at least that’s what sources are telling us with regards to early episodes of the season that see Scott transform himself into somewhat of a slightly older and more out of shape version of the Caped Crusader, protecting his family from drug dealers and other slightly-less-than-upstanding Tree Hill citizens.
