Directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin, Kochadaiiyaan is India’s first Photorealistic Performance Capture film. It is an epic dramatisation of good versus evil starring South Indian megastar Rajinikanth who is cast as the archetypal superhero in a dual role. The film also features Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff and South India’s leading stars R. Sarathkumar, Nazzer, Aadhi, Shobana and Rukmini. With music by A R Rahman. The story, screenplay and dialogues have been penned by K S Ravikumar. The lyrics are by National Award winning lyricist Vairamuthu. The film is produced by Sunil Lulla & Sunanda Murali Manohar.

Chennai, March 10: Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil period-drama "Kochadaiiyaan" has been made on a budget of Rs.125 crore, says its producer J. Murali Manohar, who feels it can't be compared with "Avatar" or "Tin Tin" as these films are made on a larger budget.
"Kochadaiiyaan" marks the directorial debut of Soundarya, daughter of Rajinikanth. It is said to be India's first motion capture photo-realistic 3D animated film.
"Our film is made on a budget of Rs.125 crore and it took us two years. 'Avatar' was made on a budget of Rs.3,000 crore and was completed in five years, while 'Tin Tin' cost about Rs.4,000 crore and also.

Chennai, Nov 15: Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer "Kochadaiiyaan" is readying for theatrical release Jan 10, 2014, while its music is likely to be unveiled in December, based on the availability of its composer A.R. Rahman.
"Our co-producer Murali Manohar has zeroed in on Jan 10 as the release date of 'Kochadaiiyaan', which is inching closer to completion," the film unit's spokesperson told Ians.
'The film's audio is likely to be unveiled on Rajinikanth's birthday Dec 12 or on some other day in the same month. We have to check with A.R. Rahman on his availability," added the spokesperson.
The film was earlier scheduled.

Reports has it that the trailer of Kochadaiyaan may not be shown at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. This is the movie in which the superstar, the god father of Kollywood the one and only Rajhnikanth acted. There is a lot of speculation on whether it should be shown in Cannes or not.
