ITV has greenlit a BBC Studios-produced series about Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne. “Inside the Duchy” (working title) will follow the Prince of Wales over two one-hour episodes to mark his 50th year as the holder of the title of Duke of Cornwall.
The producers said the series will give an unprecedented insight into the workings of the Duchy, the royal estate given to Charles as the duke, which generates £20 million ($26 million) a year in income. A film crew was embedded with the prince and staff and tenants of the Duchy, capturing the running of the estate.
The cameras follow Charles in his capacity as a landlord, farmer, and custodian of the land. In exclusive interviews, he explains how the Duchy is run to reflect his belief that economic development works best in harmony with the natural world and local communities.

Prince Charles will edit a special edition of Countryfile to mark the programme's upcoming 25th anniversary.
Filming for the episode, which will air on BBC One in March, has been taking place at the Prince of Wales's organic farm in Gloucestershire since September last year.
The heir to the throne will also be seen visiting a number of farmers and other external projects around the UK, including an inner-city school where children grow their own vegetables.
"It's our 25th anniversary - we were looking for a special way to mark that and [the prince] was very much up for that," Countryfile executive editor Bill Lyons told BBC News.
"We'd heard a rumour that Countryfile might have some viewers in very high places and as it turned out, Prince Charles was very warm to the idea of joining us."

Emmerdale actor Marc Silcock has revealed that the show's cast are already looking ahead to the 2011 British Soap Awards following their disappointing night at this year's ceremony. The Yorkshire-based serial was nominated in every category at last month's event, but its only recognition in the final results went to long-serving writer Bill Lyons, who won the 'Special Achievement' prize. Silcock - who plays Jackson Walsh on the programme - has now told Digital Spy that he and his co-stars are aiming to do better next year. Asked whether his screen love interest Danny Miller (Aaron Livesy) deserved a prize, Silcock replied: "Don't even get me started on the Soap (more)...
