Gravitas Ventures has picked up the North American rights to The Year Between from writer-director Alex Heller. The film will receive a theatrical and VOD release starting March 3.
Heller stars in the film, along with J. Smith-Cameron, Wyatt Oleff, Emily Robinson, Kyanna Simone and Steve Buscemi.
The feature, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, is inspired by true events and follows Clemence Miller (Heller), a college sophomore who is forced to move back home after having a mental breakdown where she is faced with a surprising diagnosis of bipolar disorder. The rest of the synopsis reads: “Upon her jarring return to the Illinois suburbs, Clemence will have to learn how to live with her well-meaning but frustrated family and find balance in a world that seems hellbent on thwarting her.”

Independent Entertainment have boarded M. Cahill’s “Porcupine” and will launch international sales at the Cannes Marche.
Vertical Entertainment have the North American rights and have set a summer 2022 release for the film, which was written and directed by Cahill.

Exclusive: Cinedigm has acquired North American rights to Coast, a coming-of-age drama starring Fatima Ptacek (Dora the Explorer), stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo (Cristela), Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Ciara Bravo (Cherry), with plans to release it day-and-date in theaters and on VOD on April 8. Vertical Entertainment and DirecTV have acquired the North American distribution rights to Matt Aselton’s “Lying and Stealing,” a crime drama starring Theo James and Emily Ratajkowski, the companies announced Friday.
The theatrical release planned for the sceond quarter this year. Voltage Pictures is selling international rights.
