Chris Lomme was nearly born on stage in 1938 when her mum was playing a
role in "De Lustige Weduwe". Her parents were also actors but more in
the amateur environment. Her dad was an actor with the 'La Jeune garde
catholique" (co-founders of Antigone).
At the age of 20 she got the chance to play in "Schipper naast
Mathilde". Soon after her debut on television she signed her contract
with the KVS Brussels. She played in loads of plays from Shakespeare,
Tjechov, Claus or Becket ....
In 1991 she left the KVS and started to work as a freelance actress.
Highlights of her freelance career are Het Mens (Benno Barnard),
Masterclass (Maria Callas) and now 'Het licht in de ogen" a theater
play in 't Arsenaal.
Besides acting she is also busy with poetry and literature. Frequently
she reads from works of Belgian poets or writers.
De Kreuners, a Belgian band featuring Walter Grootaers made a song about her
once (titled "Chris Lomme"). In the lyrics there's also a reference to
her debut show, Schipper naast Mathilde (1955).
