It’s no secret that Hollywood hasn’t always been the most body positive place. In fact, even now, actors and other celebrities are often encouraged to stay as slender as possible. Actor Sarah Jessica Parker has always been in fantastic shape, but even she has been subject to scrutiny. In fact, a producer once sent her a treadmill and encouraged her to “get fit.” Yikes.

Parker, 57, has been praised for looking phenomenal in a bikini well into her 50s. But during an interview on Sirius Xm Radio Andy’s ‘My Favorite Song w/ John Benjamin Hickey,” she revealed something pretty startling and concerning: a movie producer once had the audacity to ship her a treadmill to ensure she’d be fit enough for an upcoming role.

They are planning an October start in New York on Eisner, a film that Bergman scripted and will direct, and which Lobell is producing. The comings and goings of familiar faces dominated the agenda as the market bid farewell to a beloved friend.
If the imminent closure of Focus Features International came as little surprise, the confirmation on the first day by parent company Universal still packed a punch.
Alison Thompson and her team have spent the market attending to outstanding business with partners while Sierra/Affinity, a potential sales agent of choice for the Focus slate going forward, took over Somnia and Oculus.
Elsewhere, an over-reliance on famous faces caused problems. Sales agents bemoaned the challenge of finding packages with the tiny pool of headline talent acceptable to buyers, at the expense of more affordable newcomers.
Johnny Depp has lost none of his lustre. The upcoming adventure Mortdecai was one of several new titles on Lionsgate International’s prestige slate alongside Gods Of Egypt and the Point Break reimaging. All had sold out by Saturday.

Exclusive: Mike Lobell, the veteran producer whose 14-years of persistence helped make the remake Gambit happen, is getting close on three other projects with strong elements. He has re-teamed with former partner, writer-director Andrew Bergman, on A Film By Alan Stuart Eisner, an ensemble comedy which so far has Project X‘s Oliver Cooper, Shirley MacLaine and Robin Williams attached, with Rob Reiner making a cameo. Eisner is a comedy dealing with a young man making a documentary to learn what happened to his family during WWII. He is out looking for financing. Gambit, by the way, ended up with Michael Hoffman directing a script by Joel and Ethan Coen. Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman star and CBS Films is releasing. Last night Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Cameron Diaz took to the red carpet for the UK premiere of their latest film, Gambit.
With Gambit, featuring a script by The Coen Brothers, Michael Hoffman continues his eclectic directing career with this story of a man looking to take revenge on an abusive boss with the help of the wild, unpredictable (and wonderfully named) Pj Puznowski.
With elements of farce and unexpected romance this film, a remake of the 1966 film with Michael Caine and Shirley Maclaine, has a fine cast and last night our guys Ben Mortimer and Colin Hart spoke to the stars of the film as well as the director and producer.

We're not sure of current exchange rate, but we'll guess that half a million British pounds is worth about a trillion in dollars.
What do you get when you mix a nebbish-y British art curator, a Texas rodeo queen, and a plot to steal half a million pounds from an eccentric millionaire? The plot for Gambit, CBS Films' remake of the 1966 movie of the same name that originally starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. Instead, it's Academy Award–winner Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz who plot to steal money from a rich art collector (Alan Rickman), who, at least in the trailer, prefers a more clothing optional approach to work. The first trailer shows Firth and Diaz plotting their scheme to sell a phoney Monet painting utilizing a unique group of characters played by Cloris Leachman and Stanley Tucci. Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the script, and it has plenty of that Coenesque charm.

The end is nigh! The currently shooting "The Bitter Pill," starring Channing Tatum and Rooney Mara, marks Steven Soderbergh's penultimate feature film, after which the curtains will close with his long-gestating Liberace biopic "Behind The Candelabra," which films this summer. The latter has now began filling out its cast, with Dan Aykroyd jumping on board to play the famed entertainer's long-term manager, Seymour Heller.
Despite being the flamboyant singer's manager for much of his career, Heller disapproved of Liberace's relationship with live-in lover Scott Thorson. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon are set to play Liberace and Thorson, and the script comes by way of Richard Lagravenese with the project to premiere on HBO in the U.S. before a theatrical unveiling internationally. Though it's been 12 years since we last saw a film from director Andrew Bergman (the man behind films like Stripteasee, It Could Happen to You and Honeymoon in Vegas), that's not stopping the filmmaker from amassing an interesting cast for a new comedy. Deadline has word that Bergman is reuniting with producer Mike Lobell (who was also behind those three aforementioned films) for a film called A Film By Alan Stuart Eisner, and Robin Williams, Shirley MacLaine and breakout Project X star Oliver Cooper are attached to star with Rob Reiner set to make some sort of cameo in the comedy as well. More below! Deadline says film follows a young documentary filmmaker with a burning desire to bring his family’s amazing and bizarre World War II history to the screen. Considering Reiner's role in This is Spinal Tap, I'm wondering if he has some kind of mentor role...

The last time Robin Williams made a live-action turn, it was Old Dogs — therefore, I can only imagine this next project being a guaranteed improvement. Said project, if you’d care to know, is A Film By Alan Stuart Eisner, which Deadline has pegged as the joining of Williams, Shirley MacLaine, Oliver Cooper (Project X)*, and Rob Reiner, the lattermost of whom is taking a cameo role.
Andy Bergman (The Freshman, It Could Happen to You) has written and will direct the film, which revolves around a young, aspiring documentarian trying to do his family’s World War II history justice via the power of film. (It’s a bit of a no-brainer that Cooper would take Film‘s primary spot. The rest is up in the air.)
The project needs a bit more before it can actually go forward, seeing as producer Mike Lobell has yet to actually procure the proper financing.

It was no surprise to hear this week that studios already have sequels like The Avengers 2 and Smurfs 3 in the works, but with Cannes kicking off, there are bound to be many more, new and exciting projects announced soon. D – Roman Polanski reunites with his Ghost Writer scribe Robert Harris for this dramatic feature based on the scandalous Dreyfus Affair, which involved the wrongful conviction of a Jewish French captain who was accused of treason in the late 19th Century and sentenced to death.

Last year writer-director Dee Rees won serious acclaim from critics for her compelling coming-of-age indie drama Pariah. Though made on a shoestring budget, the Brooklyn-set feature unfolded the compelling and subtly told story of an African-American teen, struggling to find her own identity amidst conflicting parental and peer pressure. Unfortunately, while it won honors within the indie community at Sundance and the Spirit Awards, Pariah was overlooked at the Oscars and Golden Globes, meaning Rees, her star Adepero Oduye and the film were cheated from some major and well-deserved praise and exposure. Happily, critics weren't the only ones who took notice of Rees' talents as Variety has announced producer Mike Lobell (Tears of the Sun) has attached her to his long in-development drama This Man, This Woman. Penned by Eyes Wide Shut scribe Frederic Raphael, This Man, This Woman centers on a divorced couple whose forced to confront their shared,...

With her star Adepero Oduye set to team with Steven McQueen for his next project, Pariah director Dee Rees is looking to what she’ll helm next. After directing one of last year’s most well-realized indies, she has is already developing a few, including a South-set thriller titled Bolo for Focus Features and another film called Large Print, which follows an insurance adjustor in their 50s. But now Variety has another one to add to her slate.

Director Dee Rees hasn't been in any particular hurry to follow up the acclaimed and excellent "Pariah," but she's not without options. Earlier this year it was reported she was writing a new film entitled "Large Print," about a recently divorced, mid-50s insurance adjuster, she's got a thriller called "Bolo" she's developing with Focus Features and she's working on a project at HBO with Viola Davis. Well, now her slate is beginning to get a little more crowded.
Variety reports that Rees has been tapped to helm the indie love story "This Man, This Woman." Penned by Frederic Raphael ("Eyes Wide Shut," "Two For The Road," "Far From The Madding Crowd") the film will center on a divorced couple, who are struck by tragedy and find themselves seated together on an airplane. They use the opportunity to figure out what went wrong in their relationship, and fall back in love.

Production begins today on Gambit, a caper comedy that stars Colin Firth as a London art curator who plans to con England's richest man into buying a phony Monet painting. To do it, he enlists a Texas steer roper (Cameron Diaz) to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII. Michael Hoffman is directing, Alan Rickman and Tom Courtenay also star, and it's Firth's first big job since winning the Best Actor Oscar for The King's Speech. And the script was written by Oscar winners Joel and Ethan Coen. Isn't Hollywood great, the way these things just magically come together? Gambit actually took a remarkable 14 years to get to this point, a case study on how impossible it is for producers to succeed without infinite patience and an inability to comprehend the word "no." These Don Quixote types are the only ones in the...

And we know that both of actors are quite busy these days – Cameron is currently starring in The Green Hornet and recently finished filming Bad Teacher, while Colin is promoting his new film The King’s Speech. But, who cares!

The filmmakers behind ‘Gambit’ made a move for Cameron Diaz… and have won the game.
Diaz will be joining Colin Firth for an art-world con job in the remake of the 1966 film, which will be directed by Michael Hoffman (“The Last Station”).
According to Deadline, the script is being penned by none other than Joel and Ethan Coen, so expect plenty of clever twists and turns… not to mention double- and triple-crosses, and perhaps some funny accents here and there as well.
Firth will be playing a London art dealer who’s looking to con a wealthy collector into buying a phony Monet painting. Diaz will be playing his partner in crime, a Texas steer roper he hires to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of World War II.
