Spivey created "Up All Night," the NBC comedy that starred Will Arnett, Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph. Spivey, whose other TV credits include "Saturday Night Live," "Parks and Recreation" and "King of the Hill," left the series in January after NBC attempted to transform the series from a single-camera comedy to a multi-camera series.
"Modern Family" recently added "Community" writer Megan Ganz and Stephen Lloyd.
